Water quality and the assessment of anthropogenic pollution in the sediments of the Elber River oxbow lakes
Beranová, Lucie ; Chalupová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Havlíková, Petra (referee)
In this thesis, water quality and the assessment of anthropogenic pollution in the sediments of the middle course of the Elbe River oxbow lakes Kozelská and Vrť were studied. It is widely accepted that the oxbow lakes are extremely significant ecosystems, However, a large amount of contaminated material may deposit in these lakes. The pollution probably comes from industrial sources of contamination from the second half of the 20th century. In addition, the oxbow lakes show the development of the riverbed, and contribute to the stability of the river ecosystem. The research of Lake Kozelská was chosen especially to its proximity to the chemical factory Spolana in Neratovice, which used to be the biggest source of pollution of the Elbe River. The research included bathymetric measurements, regular observations of hydrological regime, monthly analysis of chemical and physical parameters of water in the period from December 2016 to November 2017, and marginally microscopic analyses of phytoplankton and zooplankton species too. The next part of this research included grain analysis and determination of metal and arsenic concentrations in the sediment fraction of 20µm using Aqua Regia leaching and total decomposition as well. Concerning water quality assessment, these lakes were characterized by higher...
Muddy floods phenomenon

Muddy floods phenomenon Department: Department of Physical Geography and Geoecology, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Zdeněk Kliment, CSc. Abstract: Muddy floods represent a movement of accumulated material from agriculture areas during floods trigerred by heavy rainfall (with intensity that exceed 30 mm/hour). Areas where moody flows occur are typical with steep slopes, loess, thalweg cultivation and growing crops with erosion dangerous. The most intense moody floods occur particularly in central Belgium, France, Netherlands and Slovakia. The moody floods are caused by growing suburbanization, enlarging area of farmland, tamping during agricultural mechanization or transformation grassed areas into cultivated land. Great attention should be paid to measures against erosion because water erosion with heavy rainfalls increase amount of accumulated material, what amplify negative impact of moody flows. The most suitable solution is combination of agrotechnological, technical and organizational measures. The negative consequences of moody floods are e.g. soil degradation, flooding up nutrients, carrying topsoil or transportation of accumulated material into populated area, where high economical and emotional damage may be inflicted. It is necesery to take floods triggered...
Iranian religious and conservative sphere on the web
Beranová, Lucie ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Stříbrná, Adriana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate and identify the present status of the internet as a platform for the presentation of conservative political and religious groups in today's Iran. In its first part, a brief historical survey is presented, suggesting that the internet was initially perceived by these groups with suspicion. The thesis then proceeds to explore how all of them have gradually embraced the internet as a tool to achieve their particular goals. In a detailed central section, the thesis explores the structure and content of the web presentation of important Shia institutions and clerics, religious students, the Revolutionary Guards, and influential conservative weblogs offered by individuals. The analysis of their content hopes to provide an insight into the methods used to target the audience and also to demonstrate the diversity of opinion and degree of internal strife among these groups and their supporters. On the basis of this research, the final part of the essay concludes that the internet is both a new and indispensable tool of analysis for current Iranian politics and society, providing a previously hidden insight into the immense diversity of opinion among pro-regime groups.

Beranová, Lucie ; Vltavská, Kristýna (advisor) ; Rojíček, Marek (referee)
The thesis deals with the analysis of the terms of trade and their impact on the aggregates of the national economy. The main goal was to identify issues of the terms of trade and describe their development from the point of view of total indices and indices for groups of the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) in the Czech Republic. In the thesis were used time series analysis and measurement of dependence between two quantities. The development of terms of trade indices was highly variable, and the resulting models do not describe too much variability. Total terms of trade index was the most influenced by groups Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials and Machinery and transport equipment. Gains (losses) from changes in the terms of trade influence the values of aggregates of national economy, their impact on the gross national income and gross disposable income decrease in time. There was also the international comparison of developments of terms of trade indices across the European Union, in the thesis. For this was used cluster analysis by SITC groups. The terms of trade index of the Czech Republic was the most similar to the terms of trade index of Slovakia. The contribution of the thesis is based on the detailed analysis of the terms of trade, which has not been performed before, and describe their relationship with other macroeconomic indicators.
