Quantum aspects of particle physics models with extended gauge symmetries
Sýkorová, Kateřina ; Malinský, Michal (advisor) ; Beneš, Petr (referee) ; di Luzio, Luca (referee)
In this thesis, we study quantum aspects of the minimal renormalizable SO(10) Grand Unified Theory with the scalar sector consisting of 45 ⊕ 126 ⊕ 10C. It is an interesting candidate for a theory describing physics beyond the Standard model which has the potential to allow for proton lifetime prediction with Plank- scale-physics-induced theoretical uncertainties confined within the expected one- order-of-magnitude experimental proton lifetime improvement window. With the complete information about the numerical one-loop scalar mass spec- trum and analytical one-loop beta functions of all the dimensionless scalar cou- plings, we formulate consistency criteria that every viable region of the parameter space must satisfy; namely, we require the existence of a stable Standard-model- like vacuum, unification of gauge couplings and robustness of perturbative calcu- lations. Only narrow parameter space regions around symmetry breaking chains with SU(4)C × SU(2)L × U(1)R or SU(3)c × SU(2)L × SU(2)R × U(1)B−L intermedi- ate stages are demonstrated to be potentially realistic. Detailed analysis of the SO(10) Higgs model with 45⊕126 scalar sector indicates a preference for the for- mer option, mainly due to increased perturbative instability and phenomenologi- cally unsuitable values of energy scales predicted in the...
Analysis of experimental activities in chemistry textbooks for primary schools
Špísová, Klára ; Rusek, Martin (advisor) ; Beneš, Pavel (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to analyze experimental activities in chemistry textbooks for primary schools in the Czech Republic. The types of activities and their placement in the phases of teaching, cognitive demand are examined. The analysis includes the most used textbooks of chemistry - textbooks by Fortuna: Základy chemie 1, 2 and Základy praktické chemie 1, 2. Textbooks by Nová škola, Fraus and Taktik for 8th and 9th grade. All textbooks contain suggestions for practical activities, most of them are in the ZCH, FR and NŠ textbooks. Different types of activities are identified in the chemistry textbooks, such as independent student activity, observation of teacher demonstration, laboratory work, watching videos, pictures and solving problems. Independent student activity and observation of teacher demonstration are the most common. FR and T textbooks also offer interactivity through videos. Practical topics focus mainly on the exposure phase of the lesson. In terms of the development of cognitive operations, the tasks in the chemistry textbooks focus on lower-level operations such as memorization, comprehension, and application. Higher operations, especially the development of making, was mainly in the textbooks for grade 8. The textbooks published by NŠ had a balanced representation for both grades.

This thesis studies characteristics and technologies used in capacitive sensors. For the purpose of automatic testing of sensors was selected and assembled device LowRider CNC V3. Tested sensors are from materials: silver nanowires and copper electrodes. Device during automatic tests was causing certain level of electromagnetic or electrostatic interference on sensors. Copper electrode sensor responded more significantly to touch but also interference, in comparison with silver nanowires sensor. Results of thesis more closely describe responses by sensors to touch and advantages or disadvantages of automatic testing.
Automatic Modal Hammer
Bomský, Michael ; Čala, Martin (referee) ; Beneš, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design and then construct a solution to automate an impact hammer, which is used for vibration (modal) analysis of various mechanical parts. It is almost impossible with the hammer to achieve the same place of impact, speed and power when used manuály. With automatization of this process it is possible to achieve precise and repeatable results.

Kibble balance
Tomanec, Jakub ; Kunz, Jan (referee) ; Beneš, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis consists of three sections. The first section explains the revision of the international system of units (SI), which took place in 2018 at the 26th General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM). The second section explains the concept of Kibble balance and introduces some of the created projects. In the third section of the work, the prototype of Kibble balance was realized. The fourth section contains the measurements of the prototype’s properties of the and the evaluation of the measured data. In the last section, possible sources of uncertainty and their possible solutions were evaluated.
Increasing elementary science experiments' inquiry potential
Vydrová, Lucie ; Rusek, Martin (advisor) ; Beneš, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of research-based teaching and its application in chemistry education. In the theoretical part, the division, meaning and position of the framework curriculum in primary schools is presented. The next part deals with inquiry- based teaching, its definition, advantages and disadvantages that it can bring to chemistry teaching and education in general. The paper then focuses on motivation, its types, how it can be used in teaching and the factors affecting motivation. In the practical part, the findings from the previous chapters are used to develop two worksheets to support inquiry- based activities. They are designed to make it as easy as possible for pupils to understand the material themselves. The two worksheets are divided into two parts. The first is for the teacher, divided into several sections to make it easy to understand the teacher's necessary preparation for the lesson and the procedures and outcomes expected of the pupils. There is also a section of hints, called 'tip-cards', to help pupils if they get lost in the process. The second part is for pupils. The worksheet has been designed to support as much as possible the exploratory style of teaching and, more importantly, the independence of the pupils. Emphasis is also placed on linking...
Influence of hydration accelerators on zinc - doped cement mortars
Beneš, Pavel ; Šilerová, Iva (referee) ; Šiler, Pavel (advisor)
This work deals with monitoring the hydration of cement mortars and cement pastes made from CEM I 42.5 R cement doped with zinc oxide in an amount of 1 % wt. To eliminate the delay in the onset of hydration due to the presence of zinc oxide, the following accelerators were added to the cement mixtures in different proportions: calcium oxide, formic acids and calcium formate. Hydration was monitored using isoperibolic calorimetry. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of mixtures were investigated, namely the tensile strength after bending and the compressive strength after 7 days and after 28 days. The cement mortars were further subjected to additional analyses, such as porosimetry, DTA/TG and SEM.
Optimization of electrostatic simulation by utilization of distribution equations with emphasis on design of capacitance sensors of inhomogeneity distance
Mancl, V. ; Beneš, P.
This paper deals with the problem of optimizing the simulation of electrostatic fields with a focus on electrode setup simulations for capacitive sensor design. Several simulations were performed in Ansys electronics desktop software in Maxwell 2D and 3D module. The simulations were carried out on a sensor model with parallel plates, between which the movable inhomogeneity was placed. In the simulation, the inhomogeneity was modeled as an solid object. The proposed optimization consisted in replacing the inhomogeneity as an object by the equation of permittivity distribution in the space between the plates of the capacitor. The obtained dependences of the capacitance on the position of the inhomogeneity of the two models were compared together. Also the time required to complete the simulation was discussed. In addition to evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of the two modelling approaches, the paper describes a method for simulating a continuous gradient distribution of inhomogeneity permittivity.
