Digital Image Processing of Cross-section Samples
Beneš, Miroslav ; Zitová, Barbara (advisor) ; Matula, Pavel (referee) ; Pelagotti, Anna (referee)
The thesis is aimed on the digital analysis and processing of micro- scopic image data with a focus on cross-section samples from the artworks which fall into cultural heritage domain. It contributes to solution of two different problems of image processing - image seg- mentation and image retrieval. The performance evaluation of differ- ent image segmentation methods on a data set of cross-section images is carried out in order to study the behavior of individual approaches and to propose guidelines how to choose suitable method for segmen- tation of microscopic images. Moreover, the benefit of segmenta- tion combination approach is studied and several distinct combination schemes are proposed. The evaluation is backed up by a large number of experiments where image segmentation algorithms are assessed by several segmentation quality measures. Applicability of achieved re- sults is shown on image data of different origin. In the second part, content-based image retrieval of cross-section samples is addressed and functional solution is presented. Its implementation is included in Nephele system, an expert system for processing and archiving the material research reports with image processing features, designed and implemented for the cultural heritage application area. 1
Removal of noise from digital photos
Hošek, Lukáš ; Machek, Pavel (advisor) ; Beneš, Miroslav (referee)
The goal of this work is to study and implement most frequently used algorithms for noise filtering. The results should be tools for: filtering additive noise - study and implement at least two nontrivial algorithms; removal of image defects caused by defective pixels on image sensors ("hot pixels").
Comparsion of the concept of exile prind magazines on example of Svědectví and Listy magazines
Beneš, Miroslav ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Končelík, Jakub (referee)
This thesis starts with the introduction of the general historic moments of postwar Czechoslovakia. Attention is paid to the February 1948, Prague Spring and the events of August 1968. These dates established two waves of emigration from Czechoslovakia. In this context, there are presented personalities of Jiri Pelikan and Pavel Tigrid as leading personalities of exile. The analytical part focuses on the comparison of Tigrid's Svedectvi and Listy published by Jiri Pelikan. Analysis is based on important events in postwar history. The thesis is mainly focused on the different perceptions of the Prague Spring and the Velvet Revolution in 1989.
Database of conservator reports with text searching and image retrieval
Beneš, Miroslav
The goal of this work is to design a database of conservator reports with text searching and image retrieval. Conservator report documents the process of artwork restoration. Database would represent a knowledge base, which could be used as a information source. Database could also make use of acquired experiences for restoration of other artworks. Several small samples are taken from artwork's surface. They are analysed and two pictures are taken. One in white light, the other in ultraviolet light. The co-occurrence matrices of various displacement vectors are computed from these images. Several features are extracted from the matrices. The feature vectors of images in database and query images are then used for similarity comparation.

Selected issues of public licences
Beneš, Miroslav ; Holcová, Irena (advisor) ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee)
Selected Issues of Public Licenses The aim of this master thesis is to present certain issues which are connected with free and open source software public licenses, analyze them and provide sufficient solutions. The main reason for choosing the topic was a lack of czech literature in a forementioned area despite of growing importance of open source software industry. The thesis is composed of seven chapters (apart from the introduction). The first chapter characterises basic frame of computer programs protection by means of copy- right (or droit d'auteur more precisely) in the Czech Republic. Chapter two defines the public license and attempts to evaluate its legal enforceability. Several examples of public licenses are analyzed and the ideas behind free and open source software movement are presented. The proprietary license is mentioned as opposite to public license. The third chapter focuses on open source software development and its questionable aspects. It deals with a problem of author plurality in a first part of the chapter. The second part looks at an international element in open source development and provides rules for determination of the governing law that should apply to licenses and other legal relations. The next three chapters discuss the selected issues of public licenses. The...
