Competence 4.0: self-assessment of competences related to the 4th industrial revolution in selected students from the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science of Charles University
Beneš, Jan ; Sieber, Martina (advisor) ; Šafr, Jiří (referee)
(in English) The master's thesis addresses the topic of measuring competencies associated with the 4th industrial revolution or Industry 4.0 among a sample of bachelor students from the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Arts at Charles University. The aim of the thesis is to create and test a model of competencies related to the 4th industrial revolution. A sub-objective is to compare the self-assessed competency levels among the sample of bachelor students based on faculty, study program, and academic year. The thesis includes a focus group and a questionnaire survey, in which a total of 863 bachelor students from the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Arts participated. The model of competencies related to the 4th industrial revolution is tested using confirmatory factor analysis, and differences in the levels of individual competencies are analyzed among the sample of students using parametric and non-parametric methods. Confirmatory factor analysis with WLSMV estimation demonstrated that the hierarchical model of competencies is in good agreement with the collected data (CFI = 0.973, TLI = 0.967, RSMEA = 0.055, SRMR = 0.058), and it can be applied in measuring competencies. The results of comparing self-assessed competencies indicate that there are no statistically significant differences in the...
Heart in Sepsis
Harazim, Martin ; Matějovič, Martin (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee) ; Kula, Roman (referee)
Sepsis is the most common cause of death in hospitalized patients. It is a very complex and heterogeneous effort of the body to defeat microbial agents. A worldwide effort remains to understand this process more and develop effective treatment strategies to improve the survival of septic patients. This paper focuses on only a tiny slice of the septic condition - cardiomyopathy occurring during sepsis. This still needs to be explored area to comprehend and raises more questions than answers. My work seeks to answer some of these questions. At the same time, it aims to outline the pathophysiological facts that lead to this clinical entity and discuss in more detail the diagnosis and possible therapeutic interventions. The section dedicated to the actual research focuses on specific options for early diagnosis and influencing mortality during sepsis, especially concerning the administration of beta-blockers. This bachelor thesis focuses on influencers of children, advertising, and persuasion, mainly in the internet environment and on marketing and sociological-psychological strategies affecting the child population and others. It deals with the ways that marketers use to persuade clients to buy and to communicate. Part of the thesis is an essential description of influencers targeting children, an analysis of selected social networks, and making money on social networks. Imagination and Poetics: Means of Expression of British Progressive Rock in 1967-1977
BENEŠ, Jan
The topic of the thesis is the interpretation of some key means of expression of British progressive rock music, from its heyday at the turn of the sixties and seventies through the period of search and experimentation in the mid-seventies to the onset of punk and the change in the arrangement of the aesthetic standards of rock and the breadth of popular music in general. The work primarily deals with the ways in which the British progressive rock scene communicated with the public, i.e. the analysis of content components such as the themes of the compositions and the related graphic and visual presentation of the key musical works of the time. The work tries to trace and describe the connections between the individual expressive means of progressive rock in the British music scene, i.e. literary, musical and visual means, including innovative ways of communicating with the audience in the form of concerts and theatrical elements of the presentation.
Soccer
Beneš, Jan ; Lidický, Bernard (advisor) ; Babilon, Robert (referee)
The purpose of this thesis was to design and implement an association football (soccer) match simulator and to compare the resulting implementation with other programs of similar function. A model after which both out eld players and goalkeepers play in an association football match was designed. It is possible to run the program in an interactive mode, whereby the players of one of the teams are controlled by the user, or to spectate a match of arti cial intelligencies. Included in the simulation are the physics of the football and deflections off the crossbar and the posts.
US Strategic communication towards Islamic state
Truchlá, Jana ; Beneš, Jan (advisor) ; Riegl, Martin (referee)
The main topic of my bachelor thesis is illustration of public image and strategic communication towards ISIS of two US most recent presidents Obama and Trump. In the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis I will outline the basic description of the Islamic state as a terrorist aggressor and the threat of the West as opposed to US protective policy and leadership in the World Anti-Terrorist Coalition. In this part of thesis I would primarily try to depict the main concept of strategic communication, its forms and the differences between the notions strategic communication and propaganda. In the main part I will describe the activities and the ways of formulating US strategic communication actors to explain the individual steps during the war against ISIS for the relevant audience - US citizens. In particular I will concentrate on official political strategic communication of the US Presidents which I will demonstrate on the particular examples - presidential press conferences and releases. Among digital media, I will focus on using the Twitter social network as a phenomenon to implement diplomacy through tweets. The key point of the work will be a determination of the priorities of strategic communication in the timeframe of Obama's and Trump's term in office. Choosing this specific timeframe...
Procedurální generování měst
Beneš, Jan ; Wilkie, Alexander (advisor) ; Křivánek, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis proposes a novel method for procedural generation of urban street networks. A simple traffic simulation, based on observations made about the social-geographic nature of cities, that is able to drive the temporal evolution of city road networks by creating new major roads, as well as a modified generation algorithm for minor roads, are described. The presented method is highly automated.
Analýza výsledků modelování částicových jevů v počítačových hrách
Novotný, Jiří ; Boldyš, Jiří (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee)
The main subject of this thesis is to design a method that is able to compare the outputs of a manually set up particle system with a video template of a simulated particle phenomenon. For the sake of simplicity, this work is focused exclusively to smoke effects and its comparisons. Specifically, descriptors depicting the color scheme of the examined input videos are proposed as well as the shape descriptors and time variability descriptors, which are based on the image segmentation method called Alpha Matting. This method is able to distinguish foreground objects from the background, while the foreground objects are described together with their transparency. Video template recordings captured specially for the purpose of this work are included. At the end, the resulting method is supported by an example of the gradually improving smoke effect simulation. Three virtual characters in a quarrel: an interactive model
Babor, Petr ; Brom, Cyril (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee)
In computer games, with the ambition to tell a story are often cut-scenes, passages of games, where the player does not play, but only follows a part of the narrated story. This fact distract player from playing. These passages should be integrated as much as possible in the game itself. The goal of our work is to design, implement and test a model for creating cut-scenes with dynamic development and limited user interaction possibilities. We restricted the model to a situation where three characters arguing and we implemented it for the Pogamut platform. We use animations and emoticons as means of expression, characters do not speak by natural language. Movement is ensured by the steering rules from the project Steering Library. Dramaturgy and synchronization of scenes is controlled by a stochastic finite state machine. We made an experiment where the test subjects watched the generated cut-scenes and compared them with hand-made to evaluate the work. The results confirmed the assumption that the quality of generated scenes do not reach handwritten ones. However the test subjects still perceived them positively, because of the ability to influence their development. Implemented parts of the model can be used to create games and educational programs with social theme. Theoretical design of the model can be...
