Masaryk's Criticism of Marxism as Ideology and its Contemporary Significance
Bednář, Miloslav
Masaryk's criticism of ideological essence of Marxism elucidates not only Marxism as such, but its contemporary "post-modern" version as well.
Havlíček's Liberal Democratic Conservatism, the Czech Idea of Statehood and the Unpolitical Politics
Bednář, Miloslav
Karel Havlíček was the most influential disciple of František Palacký. Havlíček's liberal conservative theoretical position had a solid philosophical foundation in the reform nature of the democratic tradition of the Idea of the Czech Statehood. He emphasized the paradigm of the U.S.A. as an inspiration for modern democratic politics.
The Czech Republic and the Problem of Freedom of Europe in the European Union
Bednář, Miloslav
In a flagrant contrast with traditional directions of the modern Czech statehood and its politics, the EU emphasizes its allegedly irreplaceable Euroopean identity in an evident opposition to the U.S. by its obsolete stress on so called European Social Model which means, first of all, a centrally distributed socialist management, supplementing civic liberties by the rule of commanding bureucratic control and administration.
Philosophical Significance of Masaryk's Concept of Religion and of His Account of the Meaning of Czechoslovak History
Bednář, Miloslav
Masaryk's concept of religious democracy is an appeal to uniting and individually irreplaceable feeling of life and world from the point of view of eternity, an appeal to think and act on the basis of such a feeling. The purpose of philosophy, according to Masaryk, is to mark out the religgious ground of human.
Philosophical Origins of Masaryk's Concept of Democracy, Political Action and the Czechoslovakian Idea of Statehood
Bednář, Miloslav
T. G. Masaryk grasped history in terms of philosophy as a non-linear motion of the creation of democratic civilization. This appears to be a consequence of philosophical and religious basis, more precisely of ontology and cosmology, both rooted in and creating a sort of Natural Law.
Masaryk's Philosophical and Political Challenge to Present and Future
Bednář, Miloslav
Globalization and globality are in the light of Masaryk's thought phenomena understandable from democratical and non-ideological points of view. On the other hand, the lasting significance of Masaryk's philosophy of religion as a concept of life-world in terms of democratic view of life seems to be all the more valid showing the present neo-Marxists ideologies unteneable.
The Posttotalitarian Syndrom as a Problem of Philosophy and Political Philosophy
Bednář, Miloslav
The coming to term with the communist totalitarian legacy is being made significantly difficult by refusal of influential intellectual strands in western democracies to cope with their overwhelmingly compromising burden of both Marxist, socialist and, primarilly in political EU conceptions, even fascist and Nayi past.
Vorovka's Concept of Masaryk's Philosophy
Bednář, Miloslav
Karel Vorovka's theoretical starting point shifted from a strict rejection of philosophical interference with science to a more conciliatory position - however, it is still insuficient since it approaches philosophy from outside.
The Significance of Palacký's Philosophical Renewal of theIdea of Czech Statehood
Bednář, Miloslav
The Idea of Czech statehood created on its Hussite stage an elementary and rudimentary form of humanitist Idea. This Idea, however, prevailed later in its considerably deficient Franco-German version of continental European liberalism on the European scale after 1848. Palacký as the leading Czech historian, philosopher and politician of the 19th century strained after an Austrian takeover of the key principle which represents the Idea of Czech statehood. This principle consists in morally anchored recognition of plurality as an alternative option to the impass of materialist and power-uniform liberalism.
Czech philosophy of politics and democracy at the end of 20th century
Bednář, Miloslav
Should the Czech Republic become uniquely enriching member of democratic civilization, the Czech view of world must be again firmly based on irreplaceable self-understanding of her history, present and future.
