Study of the possibilities of hydrogen recovery from generator gas by steam reforming
Imrichová, Anna ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis studies the possibility of generator gas being used as a source of hydrogen with the help of steam reforming. In the first part, gasification, as a method of producing generator gas, and steam reforming, including studies devoted to the production of hydrogen by similar methods, are researched. Then following experimental part is aimed to verify the assumed influence of selected parameters on the increase of hydrogen in the gas by steam reforming. These parameters are: the degree of calcination of dolomite, as the used catalyst, and its amount, the temperature in the catalytic filter and the amount of steam during gasification. The results are graphically processed and confirm the expected increase of hydrogen depending on the temperature and degree of calcination. At the same time, there are no big changes using different amounts of used catalyst and steam.
Heat exchanger design
Los, David ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a heat exchanger for the use of residual energy from flue gases from fireplace stoves. Part of the work is a brief description and overview of heat exchangers used in industry, including a chapter on flue gas exchangers. The work also includes a simple conceptual design of the heating circuit of a family house and the following choice of heat exchanger type. The conceptual design is followed by the design of the geometry of the exchanger, the determination of the size of the heat exchange surface and the calculation of pressure losses. The thesis also includes drawing documentation.
Energy saving study for family house
Procházka, Vojtěch ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This final thesis deals with the design of measures against heat loss of a family house. These losses depend on the quality of the elements that are used to prevent unwanted heat escape. In the first part, the basic characteristics of these elements and a description of heat sources for a family house are mentioned. In the next part of the work, heat losses are calculated for a specific house and measures leading to their reduction are proposed. Finally, an economic evaluation of the proposed changes is carried out.
The computation of nuclear power plant heat exchanger
Fialová, Ludmila ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
The theoretical part of my thesis analyses the topic of heat exchangers in nuclear power plants. A summary of each nuclear power plant’s circuit and its main is conducted. Furthermore, the term heat exchanger is introduced. The function and elemental construction of some significant types of heat exchangers is analysed. Their function in nuclear power plants is also described. In the computational part of this thesis, values describing parameters of the heat exchange, the heat balance of the exchanger and its main construction dimensions are calculated for a particular heat exchanger – tube and shell condenser.
Nuclear power plant cooling system analysis
Kopřiva, David ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of cooling of nuclear power plants. It briefly covers the currently operating reactor types and the currently used cooling methods of nuclear power plants. The thesis is mainly focused on the use of dry cooling, so the possibilities of dry cooling and their current use in the world are mentioned. The second part of the thesis is focused on the calculation of indirect dry cooling system. The air flowing through the dry coolers cools them. The air flow is caused by the natural draft of the cooling tower in which the dry coolers are located. The calculation of the tower natural draft and the flow losses are part of this work.
Effect of a Tension on Pressure Drop Across the Flexible Bank of Polymeric Hollow Fibres in Crossflow
Kroulíková, Tereza ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Dančová,, Petra (referee) ; Hnízdil, Milan (advisor)
Pressure drop, such as the heat transfer rate, is an important parameter in heat exchanger design. Its values also determine the required pump performance for given medium. Several empirical relationships defined for calculating the pressure drop over a bank of tubes have been preserved from the last century; however, these relationships are based on measurements performed on large rigid tubes, thus, they do not include flexibility of thin fibres, and the pressure drop values calculated by the model might not reflect reality. This dissertation thesis discusses the air-side pressure drop of a bank of hollow polymer fibres, in particular, the effect of the tension in said fibers. Therefore, other possible effects of influence, such as random fiber pitches and fiber length differences, were minimized. A special device was made for tensioning the hollow fibre heat exchanger in order to measure the pressure drop. A set of measurements was performed, and the measured values were analysed and compared to two empirical models. At the end of the thesis, two model proposals for two geometries, namely for heat exchangers with a staggered design and dimensionless pitches of 2x2 and 2x3.
Possibilities of using hydrogen in the energy sector
Holík, Michal ; Lisá, Hana (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes hydrogen energy and gives the reader an introductory look into the world of hydrogen technologies. The first part describes the production of hydrogen from fossil and renewable sources. The second part deals with the possibilities of processing and use of hydrogen in energy. The third part represents the specific application of its use.
Power to gas system
Urbánek, Štěpán ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with Power to Gas system and its subcomponents. The first part of this thesis is research of the Power to Gas subcomponents. In the second part a balance model of the Power to Gas system is developed based on the traced technical parameters from the first part. The third part deals with traceable implementations of the Power to Gas system and the last part is the design of the system for home implementation.
Waste gas combustion
Krček, Robin ; Lisá, Hana (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of using waste gases as fuel. The first part is focused on the production processes, properties and composition of selected waste gases. The following part is an overview of the methods used in the treatment and removal of pollutants from the gas. Finally, technologies that generate electrical, thermal or mechanical energy by burning waste gases are summarized.
Design of a heating system for a house
Peřina, Petr ; Kalivodová, Markéta (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the proposal of a suitable heating system for a family house. The first part contains an overview of different methods of heating. The second part is focused on the calculation of heat losses and heat demand of a particular family house. In the third part, various heat sources are designed and compared for this object. At the end of the work, these proposals are evaluated and a suitable source, which would be advantageous to replace the existing one, is selected.
