The issue of energy-efficient home heating
Kollár, Ľubomír ; Hrnčířová, Michaela (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
Low-energy houses are becoming more common and requested. The Bachelor's thesis focuses on heating and ventilation of low-energy houses. The beginning chapters describe and explain basic principles of these buildings and basics of air-handling and heating systems. The main part of the work overviews contemporary heating and ventilation systems while pointing out their advantages and disadvantages. The work includes a design of heating and ventilation of low-energy house.
Carbon Capture Storage/Utilization
Šuráň, Michal ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of CCS and CCU. The main objective is a research of capture, transport, storage and utilization of carbon dioxide, specifically technologies associated with the combustion of fossil and biomass resources. The first part describes fuel transformations and subsequent separation technologies. The second part explains the transport of CO2. The third and fourth chapters refer to methods of storing and using carbon dioxide. The last section focuses on the issue of CO2 capture using biomass resources.
Design of syngas cleaning by wet scrubber
Musilová, Petra ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
Gasification is a process which produces gas of low heating value, however, generated gas contains several pollutants. This thesis is dealing with the issue of purity and cleaning of generated gas. Theoretic part of thesis consists of research, describing the very process of gasification itself, mapping of possible pollutants appearing during gasification and particular ways of purifying gas, looking in detail at wet scrubbing with several scrubbing liquids. Further, it looks into proposition of conditions for wet scrubbing and balance of scrubbing liquids. Next part deals with calculation of purifying line. Main goal of calculations, is to determine the length of the pipeline, transfering polluted gas from the gasifier to the filter for elimination of solid particles and wet scrubber. Key aspect of length calculation was the input and output temperature of the gas, determined by characteristics of the filter. Calculation for wet scrubber istelf is also included, to detremine if the output temperature of the scrubbing liquid after the passage of the gas needs to be modified by additional cooling or heating. For experimental purposes, syngas generated by gasification of biomass, is gathered from the atmospheric gasifier Biofluid 2. Experiment itself inquires into the purity of the gas before and after the passage through solid particles filter and through the wet scrubber. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the chemical composition of gas before and after wet scrubbing, the difference of composition of tar gathered from purified and nonpurified gas and using gathered data to evaluate the effectiveness of wet scrubbing.
Energy balance of biomass heating plant
Žmolík, Václav ; Šen, Hugo (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with a design of a biomass heating plant combinating a Rankin-Clausius cyklus and a CHP unit. The CHP unit fuel is a biogas and the boiler fuel is a wooden chip. The adapted CHP unit regenerates feed-water of the R-C cycles. This design is technicaly and economicalty compared with the Rankin-Clausius cycle without feed-water regeneration by the CHP unit.
Design of rotary regenerator
Riger, Rostislav ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with regenerative heat exchangers and their operational issues. The theoretical part explains rotary and fixed bed regenerators. Further it includes the most common issues we encounter in operation. Practical part presents a design of rotary regenerator which cools flue gas from wood chip boiler. Calculation contains stechiometry of flue gas and air, design of rotor, calculation of outlet temperatures, strength calculation, dynamic calculation and design of heat exchanger peripherals.
Boilers for solid fuel
Zezulka, Patrik ; Kudela, Libor (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the heating of houses with boilers for solid fuels. Thesis is divided into several parts. In the first part is dealt with most common solid fuels, their characteristics, composition and modifications for house heating. The second part is focused on solid fuel boilers, describes chosen boilers, their operation, their advantages and disadvantages. In the last part is economically assessed the suitability of selected solid fuel boilers for heating the model house.
Biomass use in district heating
Dlouhá, Kristýna ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the utilization of biomass in district heating. The introductory part of the thesis is dedicated to biomass, its division and ways of its utilization for energy purposes. The following section describes in more detail each of the technologies for power generation from biomass. In the third part, a few of our energy cogeneration sources are stated, they use previously mentioned technologies. At the end of the thesis there is a statistical overview of the utilization of biomass in district heating in the Czech Republic over the last 10 years.
Design of equipment to reduce emissions of solid pollutants
Barybina, Alina ; Sitek, Tomáš (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis consists of the theoretical and the practical part. In the theoretical part (chapters 1 and 2) the properties of PM, legislation in the Czech Republic, principles of separation of particles and different types of separation devices are described. In the practical part in the chapter 3, a design of a filtration system for separating PM from the flue gas from three biomass boilers was made.
Alternative pellets production
Janíček, Jakub ; Lisý, Martin (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis contains a review of possible technologies for the production of pellets and briquettes. Emphasis is placed on technology for the treatment of biomass for further use. Easy to biomass use is subject to the homogenization and adjusting to the wood chips, pellets or briquettes. The final part of thesis is concerned with energy and economic balance of a specific production line pellets.
Heat exchanger design
Tatýrek, Lukáš ; Kudela, Libor (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The designed heat exchanger is part of a cogeneration unit, which I am considering as a possi-ble alternative for acquiring electrical and heat energy during heating season. The objective is to compile research about usable heat exchangers, pick a suitable technology for flue gas water application, calculate and design a heat exchange surface, calculate pressure drops and pro-cess the enclosed drawing documentation of the heat exchanger. For calculations, the recuper-ation gasket plate heat exchanger was chosen. The design of gaskets is nonstandard as it has been made for higher than usual temperatures. The result of this work is a heat exchanger with uncommon dimensions with a very low count of plates.
