How bussiness cycles infuence property crime?
Havlíková, Iveta ; Lahvička, Jiří (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This thesis aims to look into a relationship between business cycles, which are represented by unemployment, and property crime. I used daily data for years 2005-2010 from Prague. Models for seven different types of crimes (Pickpockets, pilfering of motor vehicle, car theft, pilfering of shops, pilfering of restaurants and two kinds of burglaries,(flats, houses) were used to help to examine this relationship. Positive impact of unemployment on property crime was not proven. On contrary there is negative and signifficant effect of unemployment on car thefts and pilfering of shops. One percentage point growth of unemployment causes decrese of car theft by 1,2 cars for one milion inhabitants per day and by 0,32 shops for one milion inhabitants per day. Also a negative impact of state holiday and different impact of climate contitions were proven.

Cinert, Vojtěch ; Houdek, Petr (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The thesis analyses whether the students of economics reject utilitarian behavior less than students studying various fields than economics. The testing was carried out on the moral dilemmas of so-called "trolley problem". Data was obtained through on-line questionnaire, mainly from students of different universities. The results of the research point out, that in 2 cases out of 6, the students of economics and technical fields reject utilitarian behavior less. The dilemmas are both medical framing. The influence of self-selection was not proved. It is possible, that the studies of economics have an influence on evaluation of the utilitarian behavior.
What is the value of trust? How decline of trust influences bets into lotteries of Sazka company.
Vaněčková, Markéta ; Lahvička, Jiří (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This thesis reveals the gradual development of trust decline and calculates the impact on amount of bets into two big lotteries, which are run by companies SAZKA (CZ) and TIPOS (SK). Both companies got into financial problems during 2011. The analysis was conducted on data gathered from lists of winners since 2008 (2009) to February 2012 using difference in differences method for particular games. Austrian lotteries were used as a control group. Results for game Sportka (Sazka) shows slight decline since the problems were published by media. For Euromiliony (Sazka) the decline is small up to announcement about inability to pay out prizes. After this both games showed large slump in bets: 70 % for Sportka and 54 % for Euromiliony. The drop has been decreasing up to the end of the monitored period. Loto (Tipos) decreased by 1 % and Euromilióny (Tipos) increased by 27 %. All results are significant at 1 % level. Difference in results is probably due to different character of problematic period for each company and due to state ownership of Tipos.

All these results confirm the hypothesis. Only hypothesis that income has positive effect on coupon usage intensity remained unconfirmed.
Analysis stowaways in Prague public transport
Jarolímová, Monika ; Bartoň, Petr (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis is examinig whether it is worth it for Prague public transport's passengers to travel without a valid ticket and will address the factors that affect making decisions to buy a ticket. In particular the amount of recourse for a ride without the ticket, the probability of being caught by an inspector, the price of the short-term tickets and the implementation of SMS fare. My research is based on the dates in the time period from August 2005 to April 2012. The theoretical part is based on Crime Economics and on the Tsebelis's game theoretical model. After estimating the model using the ordinary least squares method, it was proved that the probability of being caught by an inspector has a greater impact on the number of free riders than the amount of the fine.
Consequences application uniform policy of ECB on euro area countries
Skrbek, Ondřej ; Babin, Jan (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee)
The main goal of the bachelory thesis is to verify impact of common monetary policy of European central bank with motto "one size fits all" on the credit growth in the Euro area. It means uniform settings of interest rate EONIA, which values I compare with country-specific policy rate based on Taylor rule. Panel data are included in the range of 2005-2011 for 4 countries with different economic maturity: France, Germany, Ireland and Spain. Using the OLS estimation I can confirm negative effect. It means, that lower interest rate, then the country-specific one, is pressing on the credit growth of countries in euro area and thereby negatively affects the economy of the state.
Great Britain and European integration process in the sixties years of twentieth century
Návrat, Martin ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis depicts the economic and political reasons leading to Britain having changed approach towards EEC in 1960s. The analytical research provides inquiry into an influence of the integration on a rate of growth of British GDP, using the set integration index and predicts the development of GDP in two alternative situations. Penn World Table and Geospatial and Statistical data Centre were used as source for data example. The outputs of econometric analysis indicate that positive influence of level of integration on British GDP is proved as statistically temporarily important. The prediction shows, that keeping membership in EFTA would have led to 915 USD p.c. lower GDP in 1998. The thesis also discusses some of the limits of the analysis.

Halíř, Jan ; Kovanda, Lukáš (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The topic of this work is role of rating agencies in financial crisis. It differentiates consumer and corporate credit rating agencies. It shows the system of their work and failures and it's impact to the scenario of crisis. The work before and during the mortgage crisis and following financial crisis in USA. It summarizes the impact of securitization a structuralization to crisis, problems of FICO score and it's using. On the other hand It shows other interferences (mostly governmental). It shows that these interferences had bigger and direct influence on the crisis than regulated doing of rating agencies. Considering indisputable influence of credit rating agencies on the crisis and it's possible prolonging, I must claim that CRa's can't be blamed as the main cause of the crisis, but only as an amplifying factor.
