Attempt to analyze the impact of CNBs foreign exchange interventions on the Czech economy
Kos, Oldřich ; Babin, Jan (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
This bachelor thesis - Attempt to analyze the impact of CNBs foreign exchange interventions on the Czech economy - analyze the impact of CNBs foreign exchange intervention executed between November 2013 and December 2015. I used econometric models based on the ordinary least squares method and data of Český statistický úřad, Česká národní banka and Ministerstvo práce a sociálních věcí. The results of these models proved, that foreign exchange interventions had positive impact on GDP a unemployemt. On the other side, failed to achieve 2% inflation target.

Vázler, Lukáš ; Komrska, Martin (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
Bachelor thesis analyzes the factors that have an impact on unemployment in selected regions of the Czech Republic. As a reference regions are selected South Bohemia, South Moravia, Usti and Karlovy Vary in the period 1999 - 2014. Estimation of an econometric model was based on the panel data for the four regions with 64 observations. Bachelor thesis examines the influence of of ecomic and socioeconomic factors on the general unemployment rate and registered unemployment rate. The thesis confirms the influence of gender, education and unemployment benefits acting in the expected manner. However, as regards health and age, initial assumptions were not confirmed.
Irrationality in the decision- making of an individual as an economic entity in the territory of the Czech Republic
Böhm, Tomáš ; Zeman, Martin (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The main objective of this thesis is an in-depth analysis of the decision-making process on issues of economic nature for individuals in the Czech Republic. The degree of rationality occurring in consumer behavior is evaluated based on lessons learned. The theoretical section is concerned with the economic aspect of the decision-making process, which mainly includes knowledge of neoclassical theory, whose basis is the cardinal and ordinal concept of utility maximization. Subsequently there are introduced the alternative approaches to decision making, focusing on the subjective aspects of human reasoning. Using the mutual synthesis of these approaches, the author draws a term behavioral economics, specific elements of which constitute a substantive content of the whole work. The practical section verifies the hypothesis that the decision-making contradicts the theory of rational individual conduct. Data collected through the questionnaire is subjected to analytical procedures by which the stated hypothesis was verified.
Influence of social politics on fertility rate in specific regions of Czech republic
Dvořák, Josef ; Melzochová, Jitka (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
Thesis is focused on relationship between fertility rate and tools of state support. The goal is to reveal relationship between these two factors. Partial goal is to discover specific effects of tools of state support in specific regions of Czech republic. I have aimed on research at national level and also specific regions between years 1993-2014. In order to find these relationships I used method that compares differences in development of the fertility rate. After that, I set up regression model solved by method called fixed effects. For specific regions analysis was used OLS method. Model was able to explain more than 80 % of variability. This results can be used for predicting of citizens behavior, when some changes in family allowances occurs. Main finding is, that most motivating tools are parenting allowances and child benefits.
The effect of investment in tertiary education on gross wages in the region Prague
Diessner, Daniel ; Chytil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The aim of this work is to determine whether and how higher education affects gross wages. The theoretical part focuses on the theory of human capital, especially investment in education. The theory posits that a higher investment in human capital leads to higher yield, higher wages. The validity of this concept will be tested on the group of respondents who entered the labour market at the turn of millennium. Concentration of candidates with tertiary education in this period has risen considerably, which could cause an imbalance in the labour market. The practical part is based on the work of Mincer (1974). I used Mincer Earnings Function as a basis to build regression model. Partial aim is to prove the declining rate of return on investment in tertiary education using Mincer Equation.
The analysis of price elasticity of demand for beer
Hromadníková, Kateřina ; Mirvald, Michal (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The thesis analyses price elasticity of beer demand. Hypothesis about inelastic demand is tested first for nationwide level and then on data of specific brewery. Elasticity was determined by regression analysis, specifically by ordinary least squares with all variables expressed in logarithmic form. Consumption of beer is the endogenous variable and price of bottled beer (price of one hectoliter of beer in case of brewery), average gross income and price level are in the role of the exogenous variables. The hypothesis about inelastic demand was successfully proved. Price elasticity estimates range from -0,66 to -0,2. In case of specific brewery price was not significant. On the other hand, average gross income seems to be the significant determinant. According to income elasticity beer seems to be luxury good in case of specific brewery and necessity in case of nationwide level.
Relevance of leading indicators: the example of the global crisis in the US
Nečasová, Petra ; Slaný, Martin (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
Bachelor thesis is focused on composite leading indicators of economic cycle. Concretely examines indicators compiled for the United States in the period from 2000 to 2013. The theoretical part provides a comprehensive view of the indicators produced by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Economic Cycle Research Institute, The Conference Board and the Federal Reserve System. In the practical part I analyze these indicators and examine their relationship with the Industrial Production Index. Composite Leading Indicator, Weekly Leading Index and Leading indicator predicted the crisis the best. At the end of the practical part, I create my own composite indicators, based on the metodology used by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Analysis of religiosity impact on the size of international trade of Visegrad Group countries
Mikolaj, Dávid ; Melzochová, Jitka (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The Bachelor thesis is engaged in the analysis of the impact of religiosity on the quantity of international trade of Visegrad Group countries. The core hypothesis of thesis is the assumption that act of sharing the same religion belief affects the level of trust between business partners and hence the number of traded goods as well due to the same culture, traditions and background. This relationship is examined using a gravity model including religious variables, which is composed of panel data of 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010. The analysis confirms the positive impact of Judaism, Islam and Buddhism, while Jewish culture proved to be the most important of the three. On the contrary, sharing the Catholic belief among trading partners has the negative effect on international trade. Neither Hindu nor Protestant religion plays vital role in business relationship. Further, thesis presents and confirms the significance of the infidels and the index of economic freedom in the issue of exports of the Visegrad Four.
Cost-effectivenes analysis of achieving energy savings in OPPI subsidy program in SME and big corporations
Malcánek, Jan ; Macháč, Jan (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
A high consumption of energy worldwide and a high environmental burden is a burning problem today. The Energy Union is one of the policies aimed at fighting this high energy consumption in the European Union and its dependence on energy supplies from outside the E.U. Its goal is to decrease energy consumption in the member states of the European Union and stop energy supplies from outside the E.U. Within the Energy Union, whose member is also the Czech Republic, the OPPI subsidy program was created, whose goal is to achieve the objectives of the Energy Union. This program started in 2007 in all regions of the Czech Republic except Prague and was terminated in 2015 when all the statistical data was collected. This data was used in this Bachelor's thesis to create a model which evaluates all the aspects of this subsidy program and his effectiveness. The hypothesis regarding cost effectiveness reaching energy savings with a different rate of subsidizing small and medium enterprises on the one hand, and big corporations on the other is accepted, and additional recommendations for better targeting in future subsidy programs are added. These recommendations are based on collected statistical data confirming that the effectiveness of drawing subsidies is influenced by three aspects: the region, company size, and the particular call for a subsidy program.
