Tobacco products, their composition, adverse health effects and prevention
Faustová, Lenka ; Bártová, Jiřina (advisor)
Modern time pose heavy claims to people in career as well as in personal sphere; which move towards increasing one's stress. Not anybody can bear up against stress well, therefore people often "helps" themselves by smoking tobacco. The "help" often comes to a nicotine dependency, which seemingly fights against the stress. Children start smoking sooner and sooner. The score is ill-timed knowing about health hazards and recently growing busyness of their parents who spend less time with children and education becomes ineffective. This study should help you to get compact view of tobacco problem, its impressions and incidence to organism and shows some possibilities how to give up smoking. It also affects nonsmokers preventively.
Active old age and depression
Šťastná, Eva ; Bártová, Jiřina (advisor)
In my work I deal about problems connected with active old age and the depression in the old age. I tried to prove the relation between the incidence of depressions and the following factors: hobbies and activities, religious faith, education and loneliness. The research was carried out by filling in a questionnaire by three different groups of seniors. The target group in general was established by persons in the age category of 60-90 years of age. The three specific sub-groups as mentioned above consist of a/ persons living in retirement homes, b/ members of the club of seniors, c/ accidentally chosen seniors, visiting offices of a general practitioner and of a private gynaecologist in the town of Česká Kamenice. The results of my research, as far as the whole of the target group is concerned, proved the association between the incidence of depressive symptoms and the three chosen factors: hobbies and activities, education, and loneliness. Most evident of all was the association between being lonely and the incidence of depression, then between the achieved level of education and the incidence of depression. Less expressed was the relation between depression and practised hobbies. The religious faith proved to be a factor without any influence on the incidence of the depression. Regarding the fact, that...
Bottled versus tap water: factors influencing drinking water
Bayer, Jakub ; Bártová, Jiřina (advisor)
This study compares factors influencing tap drinking water compared by those enviromental factors affecting bottled water. Local village water well is compared by bottled water Dobrá voda. Problems are supported by worldwide background research evaluating bottled water contamination and toxic substances leach from plasticizers. This comparaion weights possible contaminants of tap water and bottled water drawn from alike hydrogeologic regions. Borehole in Bilsko village and bore Dobrá voda is located in similar hydrogeologic area supossing identical composition of soil and therefore similarity in water mineral and toxic content. Data obtained from others studies are evaluated with respect to our own findings. Aim of the study is a review of current trend and circumstances affecting consummation of bottled water in the household.
Characteristics of ion structure of bottled water and comparison with water delivered throught common water supply
Krištůfková, Jana ; Bártová, Jiřina (advisor)
Tap water or bottled water from any natural source is not never just pure compound H2O, but always in terms of the original complex in water solutes. It is not only important to the absolute amount of each more or less solutes, but also the specific values of the ions and water give unique characteristics. Long-term consumption of water as the high ions, and with very low amounts of ions is unfavorable to the organism effects. This work describes the effects of these ions on human health and analyzing the ion content in various types of bottled water and water distributed through the public water supply. Finally, a comparison of ion composition of bottled water with tap water with current legislation and the recommendations National Public Health Institute.
Natural and man-made UV radiation, positive and negative health effects
Skočdopolová, Hana ; Bártová, Jiřina (advisor)
The issue of UV radiation ( especially that which comes from the sun ) and its possible harmful effects affects virtually the entire population . Without sunlight would not be a no life on earth , abundance of sunlight but can also kill . enough to show data on the incidence and mortality rates of malignant melanoma and other types of skin cancers ( squamous cell carcinoma , basal cell carcinoma ) . In the population still remain quite often misconceptions about the effects of solar rays , especially with regard to their health benefits in terms of promoting immunity ( while scientifically proven effect is quite the opposite ) . Another view is misguided the idea of the health of sunbeds , which are , God knows what reason , considered safer than sunlight. In doing so, it is only commercially viable devices benefiting from the popularity of fashion trends " brown sound " bodies. Finally, it should be mention misconceptions about the amazing effects of antioxidants with which the sun " healthy" and " Easier " , and after reading the information leaflet soon one gets the feeling that although although a tan, is for him the medicine even so vitally important. Due to these and many other customary erroneous information is still necessary public truthfully inform the appropriate recommendations and proper...
Mucosal immunity in upper respiratory tract diseases and autoimmunity diseases
Fundová, Petra ; Tlaskalová - Hogenová, Helena (advisor) ; Prokešová, Ludmila (referee) ; Bártová, Jiřina (referee)
Mucosal immune system comprises not only the major compartment of the immune system but also important interface with the outer environment. It is responsible in maintaining an intricate balance with the danger and non-danger stimuli of the outer world by employing specific anatomical features and unique functional mechanisms. Mucosal immune system has been long understudied, perhaps due to the limited accessibility, and its biological importance is thus still underevaluated. However, it has become evident that it is important to study mucosal immune system not only in local mucosal affections but also when uncovering pathogenic mechanisms and novel prevention strategies of organ specific autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes. Thus, the first, more clinically oriented part of this thesis is focused on mucosal immune system of the upper respiratory tract in disease conditions - in nasal polyposis (NP). Because there is a substantial accumulation of eosinophils and neutrophils in the most frequent type of NP, we investigated and described increased expression of chemokine receptors CCR1 and CCR3 in NP versus nasal mucosa. Both innate immune mechanisms as well as homeostasis of epithelial cells may participate in NP. We have documented increased numbers of iNOS-positive and insulin-like growth...
