Presence of heavy metals in vicinity of the roads in Brno

Diploma thesis deals with the risk assessment of metals in soils near roads in the city of Brno. For samples collection has been chosen twenty-five localities which were divided into five groups depending on the traffic load, in order to compare the impact of transport on the risk of soil contamination with metals. In the soil samples were determined levels of six hazardous metals (Cd, Hg, Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu). Lead, zinc, nickel and copper were determined by the flame atomic absorption spectrometry (F-AAS), cadmium by the electrotermic atomic absorption spectrometry (ET-AAS) and mercury by the advanced mercury analyzer AMA 254.

Risk Management Related to the Implementation of Smart Technologies

The author of the diploma thesis deals with the risks associated with the implementation of smart technologies in the production process. The purpose is to analyze, describe and evaluate the current situation in Industry 4.0 in the Czech Republic and abroad. Subsequently, corrective measures will be proposed to improve the current status. The output of the thesis is a proposal for risk management in the implementation related to the automation and digitization of the production process.

Dangers of Intentional Misuse of Transported Hazardous Substances and Objects

This diploma thesis elaborates on dangers of intentional misuse of transported hazardous substances. Introduction part is about legislation which determines conditions for hazardous substances treatment and their transportation. There are several types of transportation, they are described in separated chapter. Road transportation dominates in Czech Republic. Focus is put on motivation factors for misuse of hazardous substances. Factors increasing risk of misuse of hazardous substances follow. Based on it, suggestions for precautions and means to lower the risk were created. Separated chapter is dedicated to methodology for determining attractiveness of hazardous substances. To map situation in Czech Republic, I did survey in several companies. Results are summarized in last chapter.

Ways of Reducing Risks to the Environment in Connection with the Activities of Business Entities

The diploma thesis focuses on voluntary tools that the business entities by using them can try to reduce the negative impact on the environment which may arise in connection with their activities. Attention is paid on the Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) on the basis of which environmental review and identification of indirect environmental aspects of the selected company is carried out. The result is proposed measures on indirect environmental aspects and an assessment of the appropriateness of the introduction of EMAS into the practice of the company Technické služby Jeseník.

The thesis includes theoretical information which is also support for risk analysis process of crisis communication. The goal of this work is the design manual of crisis communication, which will be used when an extraordinary event in the company in order to support decision making in communication during a crisis.

Utilization of Czech and European Transport Information Systems for the Road Transport of Dangerous Goods

The topic of my thesis is an application of Czech and European transport systems for shipping dangerous articles by road transport. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one is pointed to importance of effective legislation in the Czech Republic and the European Union, which is dedicated to shipping the dangerous articles by road transport. Also it regards to risks of accidents and possible ecologic impacts to an environment. This part compares the amount of traffic accidents in the Czech Republic and states of the EU in a frame of ADR. It shows the risks related to shipping the dangerous articles by road transport. The closing part belongs to important elements of safe transportation of dangerous matters. The second part of the thesis analyses current state of shipping information systems in the Czech Republic and in the European Union. There is the analysis, the suggestions for improvement of the systems´ efficiency and its application in the Czech Republic. The closing part belongs to my own project of shipping information system.

Dynamic Risk Management in Municipalities

Dynamic risk management is not a much-resolved issue at municipal level, although the consequences of these risks can be very serious for the municipality. The Municipality mainly focuses on situations that are called extraordinary events and the hazards of common activities, mainly associated with the running of the village, are usually neglected. The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the current state of this issue, which deals with approaches for dynamic risk management, municipalities, methods suitable for risk analysis and the possibility of using software tools in this area. Based on an analysis of the current situation, a general model for dynamic risk management at municipal level is created. The output of the thesis is the above-mentioned general model and its verification in a particular municipality. Additionally, the financial difficulty associated with the implementation of this model is presented.

The concentration of particulate matter in the air of selected areas of the city of Brno and its health risks

Tato práce se zabývá znečištěním ovzduší pevnými prachovými částicemi v lokalitách města Brna. V teoretické části je pojednáno o možných zdrojích prachových částic, o chemickém složení a velikostní klasifikaci polétavých částic a dalších fyzikálně-chemických charakteristikách. Další část je věnována zdravotním rizikům prašnosti. V této souvislosti práce pojednává o anatomii dýchacího systému a účincích prachu na něj. Jsou taktéž rozebrány zdravotní efekty prachového znečištění, včetně uvedení možných nemocí respiračního a kardiovaskulárního systému, jejichž může být prach příčinou. V praktické části byl proveden sběr prachu. Byly vybrány celkem čtyři lokality, kde byly prováděny odběry vzorků. Následně byly stanoveny koncentrace polétavých částic PM10 a PM2,5. Dále byly u vybraných lokalit stanoveny koncentrace těžkých kovů a polyaromatických uhlovodíků vázaných na prachových částicích. V závěru bylo provedeno srovnání s legislativou a stanovena zdravotní rizika.

This thesis analyzes the risks of global and local business environment . The paper shows the actual state of the environment and the associated risks . The risks greatly influence the success of businesses and it is necessary to know them and understand how to respond . Inaction against risks can lead to bankruptcy of the company . In the practical part is an analysis of the certain company. The result of the analysis is to evaluate the state of the company and choose the right strategies to achieve goals.
