This diploma thesis is focused on the arrivals of the first two wives of William of Rožmberk, namely of Katherine of Brunswick and Sophie of Brandenburg, to the domain of the latter. The arrival was a complicated procedure with a whole range of economic, social and cultural aspects and many people were involved in it as well. This work deals with a broad spectrum of related issues: first of all it examines, step-by-step, the whole process of courtship and it describes the wedding rite in general. The aim of the core section of the thesis is to describe some practical measures, such as staff and food supplying and accommodation capacities providing. The attention is also drawn to the invitation letters and written instructions given to the burghers and castel staff in respect of the guests' comfort and public security maintaining. The final part of the work deals with the journey itself of the two brides to Český Krumlov.
The Nuremberg Trial and Czechoslovakia

This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the Nuremberg Trial and its con- nection to the history of Czechoslovakia. In the introduction dediated the author on attitudes of particular powers leading to the establishment of the International Military Tribunal and their common negotiations. The author's goal was to make a complex, and if possible objecti- ve, view of the trial, that is why she applied her mind to work of prosecution teams and also work difficulties of the German defense as well. The main part of the thesis regards German aggressive plans against Czechoslovakia and the Czech indictment against former Reich Pro- tector Constantin von Neurath. The author analysed so called Hossbach's Protocol and a plan of the operation Fall Grün ("Plan Green"). The author also focused on a role of the Sudeten German Party in ruining the Czechoslovakian State and on the establishment of the Protecto- rate Bohemia and Moravia. In case of Constantin von Neurath the author focused on partly the Czech indictment and its detailed analysis, partly on Bering Neurath at the Trial and his cross examination. The analysis of charges against next former Reich Protector Wilhelm Frick a his behaving at the Trial follows.
Life and financial situation of Václav Budovec of Budov

This bachelor thesis deals with the life and financial transactions of Václav Budovec of Budov. The first part covers the descent, education, political career, property, and family relations of the above-mentioned aristocrat. The main part deals with the aristocrat's financial relations with debtors and it strives to outline the total of loans and their paying off. The final part describes the construction of his family residence. The thesis ends with a conclusion. The aim of the thesis is to entirely address the life of Václav Budovec and to reveal so far unknown information and facts about him.
Beginnings of the Czech educational system in the region German

IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE The diploma thesis describes the beginning of the Czech education system in a former district Německé Jablonné. The first part gives details about the district formation, territorial-administrative development and its decline in 1948. The second part focuses on the development of the Czech education system. Due to huge amount of data I have selected the most important moments, information and documents which happened between 1869 and 1945. This part also contains a chapter about the development of the education system from the border area followed by a short chapter about school chronicles. The third part lists all the schools which were opened between the First and the Second World War in Německé Jablonné district. The aim of the thesis is to describe the district itself as well as the development of the Czech education system during the time of its existence, focusing on the border area. The main aim was to find out what kind of schools were there, the number of students, school equipment, public events, trips, festivals and celebrations. The information was found in the school chronicles and other school documents, from the interviews with the local people and the teachers who have still been teaching at one of those schools. Wiliam Slavata of Chlum and Košumberk

This work dealing with the William Slavata of Chlum and Košumberk (1572-1652) is focused mainly on outstanding issues and blind spots associated with the life and career of the Czech aristocrat who became one of the leading figures of the Habsburg monarchy of his time. The content of the first part is a detailed description of Slavata's stay and activities in exile. Attention is paid to little-known facts relating to his participation in political talks on the future direction of the Bohemian Kingdom and the Habsburg monarchy in Vienna, Prague and other places and to Slavata's writings of constitutional and confessional apologetic nature, developed during his stay in Passau. Further, it endeavours to explain Slavata's ambiguous attitude to the process of White mountain confiscations, from which he gained despite his loyalty and service to the house of Habsburg, only a small profit. Finally, the author dealt with the Slavata's problematic relationship to the commander in chief of the imperial army Duke Albrecht of Waldstein and tried to discover the roots of their hostility and explain why Slavata became one of the most persistent critics of Waldstein.
War of 1866 in the Northern Battlefield

This work deals with the events of the Jizera front, which significantly influenced the Austrian North Army campaign against the Prussian armies in 1866. On Jizera front has gradually formed so-called the Jizera Army Group, which was formed by the Austrian Ist Army Corps, the Austrian 1st Light Cavalry Division and Saxon Army Corps. This army group in parts gradually faced attacking Prussian 1st and Elbe Army. Under their pressure and due to new orders Jizera group had to retread to Jičín. There was a battle, in which get in almost whole Jizera group. The battle ended in the retreat and disintegration of this group. This had major importance and led ultimately to retreat across North army to Hradec Králové.
Švihov Castle

The state Švihov Castle is located in the eponymous town in the western part of Bohemia. Půta Švihovský built this unconquerable object in 1480 near the Uhlava river. Other owners of the castle include the Říčanští's from the town of Říčan in the 16th century, and then the Černín's from the town of Chudenic, who owned the building until the end of the Second World War. This castle was not only used as a home of the Lord, but moreover, it was used for agricultural purposes beginning in the 18th century. After the war, all the Černín's property was confiscated, and the castle has since been owned by the government. After the castle's submission to the government, numerous construction has been performed which continues to this day. The majority of the restoration took place under the direction of Břetislav Storm, M.A.E. Furthermore, in subsequent years, the castle has served multiple purposes such as archaeological and historical research, restoration and construction activities and also many movies have been filmed there. The castle has been recognized as a national cultural monument, and has been managed by the National Heritage Institute since 2002. Relations between Czechoslovak and French Freemasons, 1918-1939

At the same time when Czechoslovakia came into existence, Freemasonry started to establish and develop in that new country. Many new lodges were created all over the state, but the centre was in Prague. The independent Grand lodge The National Grand Lodge of Chzechoslovakia had existed since 1923 and the members were Czechs and Slovaks together. That system was involved in international structures in the interwar period. The thesis focuses on an analysis of relationship between Czech a French Freemanors inter two world wars. The two-way communication of members from both countries is analysed by visits, correspondence, giving an honorary memebership, etc. The other object of research is frequency of communication and its changes in time. The thesis also deals with three questions: if the succesfully cooperation of both countries was based on the Grand lodge or its individual members and if the relationship of the countries was at official or unofficial level and how many persons were involved. Hluboká Castle in 19. Century and Johann Adolf zu Schwarzenberg

The thesis deals with historicism in architecture using the example of Prince Johann Adolf zu Schwarzenberg and Hluboká (Frauenberg) Castle, which Schwarzenberg rebuilt. The thesis also focuses on Prince's journeys through the British Isles, where the so called Gothic Revival arose and where Schwarzenberg took a look at many buildings influenced by this phenomenon. The next chapter is concerned with the reconstruction of Hluboká Castle inspired by romantic historicism, which began shortly after Prince's return from the second journey and which created from the castle one of the most majestic family seats of nobility in the Habsburg Monarchy. The study deals with the conception of the castle as a "family museum", symbolism that can be seen in this "museum", other building projects influenced by Schwarzenberg's Hluboká and the relation between early capitalism and historicism in connection with Johann Adolf's entrepreneurial activities, too. It is also one of the tasks to describe all these facts in the broader context of the 19th century, whose circumstances caused the development of romanticism and historicism. The 4th Austro-Hungarian Economics Compromise

This thesis follows the course of negotiations regarding the fourth Austro-Hungarian economic compromise on governmental and parliamentary level during years 1895-1899. It mainly deals with their impact on domestic politics in Cisleithania (Austria) and Hungary, as well as on relations between the two parts of the Habsburg monarchy. It seeks to define and briefly describe disputed issues and reasons why negotiations ultimately failed and the economic compromise wasn't done the regular way.
