The transformation of commercial function and its perception by residents in Prague 2

The aim of the diploma thesis is to detect and explain changes in functional use and structure of retail and services and its perceptions by residents on a case study of Prague 2. During the period 1989 - 2013 in Prague 2 and in representative types of its streets was studied the transformation of commercial and residential uses, retail and service structure and residential perceptions. By analyzing of available data in Prague 2 was shown that in the context of the processes affecting the post-socialist city increased the importance of commercial functions and structure of retail and services changed. The dynamics of changes in the streets differs based on their hierarchical position. In the streets diversified level of the external appearance of establishments at present. From structured interviews with residents of representative streets revealed that changes were perceived diversely and their satisfaction with the retail and services structure in neighbourhood was evaluated positively and negatively. The transformation of the structure and distribution of retail and services in post-socialist city - case study of Chodov

This thesis deals with transformation of the structure and distribution of retail and services in the post-socialist city. The aim of thesis is to detect changes in the structure and distribution in retail and services on the case study of Chodov. With the economic transformation after 1989 was changed the structure and distribution markets and services in the city. The topic has been previously studied on the example of large cities. It has been shown, that even in a small town like Chodov, the structure of retail and services was changed, number of establishments increased and new were founded. The distribution of retail and services was also changed in Chodov, retail and services began to be decentralized and they expanded into all parts of the town, in the town center number of retails and services further increased. The reason for these changes could have been change in the ownership mode of the businesses, a price liberalization, the growth of private businesses, an arrival of foreign investors and the change of consumers' behaviour.
