Induction and potential use of monosex populations of pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) in intensive farming
ŠVEJDA, Pavel
The aim of this study was to induce monosex populations of pikeperch using the method of direct masculinization and direct feminization in order to change sex and evaluate the production parameters and body indices of the treated groups of pikeperch. For direct masculinization, 17 -methyltestosterone was used at a dose of 30 or 50 mg.kg-1 for 30 or 60 days. For direct feminization, 17 -estradiol was used at a dose of 30 mg.kg-1 feed for 30 days. Individuals of pikeperch with TL = 51.52 +- 4.19 mm and W = 1.23 +- 0.26 g, FC = 0.9 +- 0.3 were used for the experiment. In the experiment, direct feminization achieved a sex ratio 98.3 % of females and 1.7 % of males. This is the first record of an almost all-female population induced with 17 -estradiol. The highest level of masculinization of the tested individuals was achieved in the group exposed to 17 -methyltestosterone at a dose of 30 mg.kg-1 feed for 60 days. In this population, 75 % of individuals with male genital tissue were found, of which 21.7 % were individuals whose testicular sperm could be used to produce an all-female population. In groups treated with 17 -methyltestosterone for 60 days, the presence of "neomales" and intersex (hermaphrodite) individuals was observed. The experiment revealed that the use of the hormones 17 -methyltestosterone and 17 -estradiol can temporarily cause growth suppression, particularly during and shortly after exposure of individuals to these hormones. However, it does not have a lethal effect on individuals in the doses we applied. The higher growth rate of pikeperch females was not confirmed in the test. Females treated with 17 -estradiol did not show higher weight gains compared to the control group. A significant difference in the achieved final weight was not observed between both sexes in the control group at the end of the experiment.
Jsou parmy obecné v době výtěru "jedovaté" pro ostatní vodní organismy?
ŠVEJDA, Pavel
This bachelor thesis deals with fish toxicity with the emphasis on the barbel (Barbus barbus Linnaeus, 1758). Its tissues and especially roe cause poisoning to human known as a "barbel cholera". Possible lethal effects of barbel the killer shrimp Dikerogammarus villosus (Sowinsky, 1894), the marbled crayfish Procambarus virginalis Lyko, 2017 and the round goby Neogobius melanostomus (Pallas, 1814) were examined in this thesis. Different types of tissues and early life stages of barbel were used due to the indistinct distribution of possible toxin in fish body. In addition, using a behavior test, where marbled crayfish were used as an experimental organism, we monitored possibilities of toxin detection by consumer. Our results suggest that there is no evidence of barbel lethal toxicity on chosen consumers. We also did not find evidence that crayfish are able to recognize flesh of ready and unready to reproduce barbel. To sum up, we did not find evidence that toxin which is present in barbel body affect given consumers. It can be given either their co-evolution (arms race) or their ancestors had never been susceptible on this toxin. Thus, there can only be a spontaneous effect of mentioned toxin on mammals or humans.
CONSUMER PROTECTION IN CZECH REPUBLIC AND EUROPEAN UNION
ŠVEJDA, Pavel
A consumer ´s protection is relatively young and dynamically developing discipline which blends with other branches for example the economy, the law, the business, the marketing etc. This graduation theses describes the consumer ´s protection in the Czech Republic in comparison with the European Union. The Czech Republic made a tremendous progress in adopting Union ´s norms in recent years, but still is behind stricter norms of the western countries. In the Czech Republic still dominates inexperienced and ignorance of the Czech consumers in relation to their rights. Accordingly to this, it is necessary to make other steps, which will inform much more the consumer about his or her rights. Higher informedness, stricter application of norms and the laws, and their verification in business use will lead to the existence of more perfect internal market of free trade.
Comparison of the effectiveness of ice skate training using the change of directional speed exercices and powerskating in the U10 category
Švejda, Pavel ; Novák, Dominik (advisor) ; Kregl, Jan (referee)
Title: Comparison of the effectiveness of ice skate training using the change of directional speed exercices and powerskating in the U10 category Goals: The main goal of this study is to compare the effectivity of ice hockey skating training using partial skating tasks and training with the usage of change of directions speed. 8 skating tests were used to compare these two methods in the U10 category. Methods: The method of quantitative analysis was used to compare the results in each test. A total of 13 players under the age of 10 years with an average training age of 4.73 ± 1.15 participated in the research. A total of three test measrurements were conducted. The first one taking place before any stimulation for both groups. The second, which followed six weeks of intervention using skating technique and agility exercises respectively, and the third, which followed a further six weeks of intervention when the groups were rotated. The measured times were tabulated and then statistically processed. Results: After the second measurement (POST_1), the group starting with the skating technique improved in 7 out of 8 tests. The group starting with agility skating showed improvement in 6 out of 8 tests. The most significant improvement for both groups was seen in the 30m backwards test, with the group...
Promotion of Innovative Entrepreneurship in Czechia: the Role of Science and Technology Parks
Marek, David ; Žížalová, Pavla (advisor) ; Švejda, Pavel (referee)
Czechia seeks to respond to the challenges coming with the development of knowledge-based economy. It builds up innovation infrastructure with the aim of filling the gap between research institutions and application sector, especially private firms. Tools lowering the barriers for the diffusion of technological progress include science and technology parks (STP). STP operate as a platform interconnecting actors involved in the innovation process, they initiate a knowledge transfer and provide specialized business services, all aimed at developing innovative entrepreneurship and research commercialization. Flood of new STP in Czechia draws attention to their particular characteristics and their efficiency. An extensive survey analyzes the role of Czech STP in innovative entrepreneurship development. The evaluation consists of two levels. The first describes the strategic profile of each of the parks and search for common characteristics. The other observes innovation activity of tenant firm separately for the period before and after joining the STP. In addition, the thesis discusses socio-economic context from which innovation infrastructure originates, and factors influencing its efficiency. Author distinguishes 4 specific types in the sample of 22 STP. Evidence of 78 tenant firms suggests a positive effect...
