Competitiveness of Czech republic within the context of Europe 2020 strategy

Bachelor´s thesis deals with examination, comparison and analysis of the indicators of Europe 2020 strategy and the Europe 2020 Competitiveness Index in the period of the beginning of strategy implementation in 2010 till 2016. Thesis is divided into two compact parts. First, the theoretical one includes explanation of the term "competitiveness", characteristics of the Europe 2020 strategy and methodology of weighing national competitiveness regarding the model Europe 2020 of World Economic Forum. Second, the practical one is divided into two articles. First article dedicates to observation and analysis of the causes of progress towards the strategy goals acheived by Czech republic and European Union. Second article is dedicated to analysis of the competitiveness of EU and Czech republic according to mentioned model and to comparison with the countries of Visegrád Group as well. The last pasrt of the thesis contains an outcome of the facts found, list of the tables, images and graphs.
Comparison of the economic development of Visegrad countries since 2000

The aim of this thesis is to compare the economic development of the countries of Visegrad four (V4) between the years 2000 and 2016 via the macroeconomic indicator of GDP. Text is divided into a theoretical and an analytical part. In the first part, the studied formation is described as well as the GDP indicator and the methodology of Eurostat, whose data are analysed in the second part. The thesis examines the economic development of the group mainly through annual GDP growth rate and GDP per capita indicators. Macroeconomic context is generally acquired from reports, data or publications of the national institutions of V4 countries. Synthesis of the findings showed that while the short-term economic development in the V4 can differ, from a long-term perspective the studied economies are edging closer.
Consumerism and Shifts in Consumer Behaviour in 21st Century

This bachelor thesis is concerned with consumerism and shifts in consumer behaviour in 21st century. The aim of this thesis is to define the issue of consumerism and consumer society, to identify the causes of its formation and the results it has on society. Furthermore, this thesis also addresses the changes in consumer behaviour in 21st century from the perspective of generations in the United States. Focusing on Generation Y, it observes the changes in behaviour and attitudes of its cohorts and the impact of this changes on consumerism nowadays. To identify these shifts it compares the consumer behaviour of Generation Y with other generations. The thesis also provides an overview of the future possible development of the consumer society. This bachelor thesis uses the methods of literature research, evaluation and comparison of secondary sources. The analysis of generations is based on the results of the social studies of attitudes and behaviour of its cohorts in different areas of life.

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the level of CSR reporting in Czech Republic and to provide theoretical background of social accounting process. The bachelor's thesis consists of two parts. Theoretical part of the thesis describes social accounting and methods of its application to enterprise's practices and summarizes theoretical background of corporate social responsibility. The second (practical) part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of 20 important firms' CSR reports. The outcome of this work allows the assessment of the current level of CSR reporting in Czech Republic
Corruption rate and economic performance

This bachelor thesis concentrates on the relationship between corruption rate and economic performance in a single economy. The main goal is to theoretically describe the term corruption itself ant to analyse its impact on the economic performance and effectivity. This thesis describes in the theoretical part the term corruption and its causes and consequences. In the practical part it concentrates on the correlation between corruption rate and basic economical indexes in the Czech Republic and chosen world economies, while the main question is, if higher corruption rate always necessarily leads to worse economic results and if corruption rate is one of the main causes, which differentiate developed and powerful economies from the others, or if its influence is insignificant. In the conclusion statistical methods are used to quantify the influence of corruption rate on economic performance.
Responsible approach in the ecological sphere on the example of the University dormitories

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the current state of the dormitories belonging to the University of Economics in Prague and consequently to suggest a solution, whose implementation will lead to an improvement of the current state of the environmental sphere. The thesis deals with the issue of electricity consumption and waste management. More specifically, the thesis looks into the municipal solid waste treatment that may be separated and hazardous waste, particularly the defunct light sources and batteries that should be ecologically disposed. At the same time, the thesis is focused on the possible ways of saving in the area of energy sources. In both cases, the thesis proposes a comprehensive list of improvements which might help lower the high energy intensity as well as reduce the ecological footprint which the dormitories leave in case of waste treatment.
Corporate social responsibility – social pillar

The main goal of this Bachelor Thesis is to introduce the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with a focus on social pillar in external and internal dimension of the organization. The Bachelor Thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains the general characteristics of the concept of CSR, clarifies the benefits and criticism, methods and areas of application, attitude of Europe towards Corporate Social Responsibility. Furthermore, theroretical part focuses only on the social pillar of CSR, introducing standards applicable in a given pillar and examining in detail the ways companies behave responsibly towards employees and external entities. The practical part is focused on the social pillar of CSR concept implemented in internationally operating company ABB. The work submits proposals for possible expansion of activities in the social field of CSR in ABB CZ by comparing the concept of the company in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Corporate social responsibility versus food waste

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to introduce the concept of social responsibility, to highlight the problem of food waste and to provide possible solutions. The work consists of two main parts - theoretical part and practical part. The theoretical part describes the historical development, definitions and the basic characteristics together with the three main pillars of the concept. The practical part focuses on food waste and provides an overview of the causes and consequences in the environmental, social and economic dimensions. At the same time, there are described steps made by Tesco towards the elimination of waste and possible improvements in the domestic market.

The main goal of this thesis is to introduce the concept of CSR and to describe the impact of socially responsible activities on corporate performance of IBM. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is concerned with introducing the concept of CSR, its key principles and studies dealing with the relationship between CSR and corporate performance. The practical part is concerned with introducing IBM's approach to corporate social responsibility, its key projects and the benefits of implementing the principles of CSR.
