Joint custody - its assumptions, strengths and potential weaknesses in the light of psychology

This bachelor thesis deals with joint custody in relation to its assumptions, strengths and potential weaknesses in the light of psychology. The theoretical part provides insight into the context of the form of contemporary family, with the issue of divorce and its impact on all involved individuals and with different forms of parenting. The legislative grounding of post divorce child care and its possible forms in the Czech legal order is also covered. The psychological assumptions of joint custody of both the parents and the child are emphasized to a great extent. On the basis of these findings are drawn possible strengths and weaknesses of joint custody. Last but not least are presented different approaches to joint custody among a few selected countries. The final part of this thesis is designed as qualitative research project focusing on the evaluation of joint custody from the perspective of individuals who have personal experience with this post-divorce arrangement. Various psychological aspects of children's drawings

This diploma thesis focuses on the psychological aspects of drawings of preschool children from complete and incomplete families. In the theoretical part the child's drawing is described as one of the basic manifestations of the semiotic function and it emphasized its importance in the process of cognitive maturation. Drawing is also taken into consideration as a projective diagnostic method. In the research part we interpret drawings by children of different ages in the preschool period with an emphasis on cognitive maturity of the individual and family relations with consideration to the projective function of drawings. The results may lead to a better understanding of children's perception thanks to the interpretation of various drawings.

Problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder

Bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorders. It defines the term autism spectrum disorders, brief description and the prevalence. It also discusses the problem behavior, the definition and specific examples. Attention is also paid to the causes and role of this behavior for children. It describes the most common problem behaviors and interventions that work with it. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter devoted to applied behavioral analysis, which is working with problem behavior very successful. Briefly outlines the history of this therapeutic approach, its basic principles when working with problem behavior and possible negatives. Psychological burden of family caregivers of seniors with dementia and its aspects in the family system

Taking care of seniors with dementia in the home environment can prove itself difficult not only for the individuals burdened with the main caretaking, but it is also challenging for their close family relationships. There is usually some way of sharing the care in the families, where more family members are put into a caregiver's position. Based on the semistructured interviews with the family caregivers this paper describes the alterations of the family relationships and the forms of support between the family members, as well as the common conflicts and rejections. The issue is being described from the point of view of the caregivers with a direct, actual and long-time experience in the home caregiving. Also the data of the interviews has been shortly compared to the information retrieved from the anxiety, depression and burden inquiries, all collected among the respondents. Psychosocial situation of siblings of chronically ill children

Chronic illness of a child has an influence over the whole family system. Despite this fact healthy siblings have been overlooked by the majority of research. Some foreign studies declare that this population is in higher risk of developing psychsocial problems. The purpose of this thesis is to conduct a closer study on psychosocial characteristics of the siblings of children with diabetes mellitus type 1. The main concern of the theoretical part is the review of current literature dealing with the topic of siblings of chronically ill child and their families. The conducted research included quantitative and qualitative methods exploring sibling psychosocial problems and prosocial behaviour, self-esteem, siblings attitude towards illness and family functioning. The results stress out the important relationship between sibling adjustment, self-esteem and individual and family characteristics. The results also present the main themes connected with siblings feeling of fear, sadness and anger, with applied coping strategies and perceived rewards and costs of the illness for family. Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old)

in English Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old) This graduate work deals with the Fairy Tale Test and its application in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part presents characteristics of children in preschool, early school and middle school age. This section is concerned with importance of the fairy tales for children and emphasis is especially laid on fairy tales that uses the Fairy Tale Test. It presents the problems with children's diagnosis and introduces the Fairy Tale Test. The empirical part deals with the practical use of the Fairy Tale Test in the Czech Republic. Test was used in 60 boys aged 6-12 years from the capital city. The obtained data of children 6-7 years old was compared with data of another region. The data of 8-12 years old was compared with the CPQ and Questionnaire style education using correlation analysis. The data show that the Fairy Tale test is a good diagnostic tool with broad application also in the Czech Republic. Hopefully it will be soon standardized for the Czech Republic. Psychological and social aspects of healthcare personnel's work with a dying patient

The goal of this thesis, "Psychological and social aspects of healthcare personnel's work with a dying patient", is to examine the socially unattractive issue of dying. Despite the fact that dying is a natural process, we often treat it with contempt and concern. We inspect this topic through a prism of healthcare personnel view, who is in contact with dying and death on a daily basis. In the theoretical part, we have first described the concept of death from historical point of view and afterwards we have narrowed it down to psychological-medical view of dying. Next, we have introduced the area of lenitive care for a dying patient, which is closely related to the topic of euthanasia. Of course, in relation to euthanasia, we then talked about medical ethics. This way we have circled around the relationship between a medic and his patient, the specifics of their communication, and finally we have described the psychological stress of healthcare personnel, possible coping strategies and eventual defensive mechanisms. Bibliography also features current research, both domestic and foreign. Tthe personality of foster parent in the system of the substitute family care in the Czech Republic

Thesis deals with the personality of foster parents in the current systém of the substitute family care in the Czech republic. The theoretical part describes the current substitute care system in our country, the specifics of foster care and the role of psychologists in the mediation process and subsequent implementation of foster care for children. All of these topics are presented based on the study of professional domestic and foreign sources and are contextualized topic personality of foster parent. Psychological aspects of death and dying

This theses concern with psychological aspects of dying and death. Its purpose is to comprehend ideas of modern people concerning death and dying (eventually to gain some kind of mental representation of death). Theses consist of two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part concerns at first with death and dying and areas connected to those. Then it covers two quite new areas related to this topic, namely deaht in psychology and various explanations of death including their psychological explanation. The empirical part uses qualitative research (used methods are half-structured interview, free aassociations and marginally also analysis of a drawing) on people's conception of death, their explanation of death and feelings related to the topic, their fears and wishes. The findings are of qualitative character and they were obtained from 28 respondents. The results of empirical part could provide valuable psychological material in the area, that is even nowadays still concidered to be a taboo. They could deepen research in the area that, due to the overall aging of population, would be more and more valuable. Family constellations of Bert Hellinger - therapeutic and consulting method

Family constellations is a way of dealing with clienť s problems or issues, which can be used with individua! or group of clients. Author of this method is Bert Hellinger, german psychoterapist and priest. This phenomenological method of work has many similarities to several famous methods and approaches, for example Satir' s constellations, Moreno's psychodrama, Rieger' s island offamily. Iťs usually presented as controversial method. We tried to present its philosophy, its procedure and signify its position in Czech Republic. We wanted to :find out, which psychologicals or therapeutics phenomena can be seen during its process. Main importance of this work is in presentation of subjective evaluation and personal experiences of people, who actually attempted this method, to help them with their problems and personal development. Based on interviews with them we were looking for what does this method brings to clients, whether does it help, whether it is according to their opinion effective or not.
