Female coping strategies with anger
Kolářová, Anna ; Junková, Vendula (referee) ; Štětovská, Iva (advisor)
This thesis focuses on anger coping strategies, with emphasis on experiencing and expressing anger by women. First part surveys theoretical resources, especially anger in cultural framework and connection between anger coping and health. Based on theoretical background, BARQ questionnaire (Linden et. al.) and Czech version of STAXI (Stuchlíková, Man, Spielberger 1994, 2003), we designed a pilot questionnaire ANDO. Our goal was to design a questionnaire with better ability to register unhealthy anger coping mechanisms and gender differences. Using factor and cluster analysis, we established 9 subscales of strategies for coping with anger (4 of them are measuring anger coping strategies considered unhealthy) and derived preliminary standards for the questionnaire (n=212). By the means of ANDO questionnaire we measured differences and relationship between two generations of Czech women. Our sample consisted of pairs of mothers and daughters (nm=41, nd=41). We wanted to verify, whether the change of social climate in Czech Republic influenced female anger coping strategies. And also if there is a connection between mothers and daughters anger coping style. We found, that mothers incline to anger-avoiding strategy more than daughters (p<0,01). On the other hand daughters tend to use the support-seeking strategy...
Psychotherapeutic care for adolescents failing in difficult situations.
Bauer, Jiří ; Gillernová, Ilona (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee) ; Dobrovská, Dana (referee)
The central motive of this dissertation thesis was to find an effective method of helping young people approaching adulthood manage difficult situations - which they were unable to deal with - through psychotherapeutic care. Their failure was most often demonstrated by their unsatisfactory results in school performance or duties given at training workplaces. Although the causes were different, the outcome was the same for all of them: a proposal to suspend them from their secondary school or their training college. In theoretical solutions as well as in research and its applications it seemed useful to refer to many influences and their combinations that enter the life of each individual. Therefore it is very difficult, even impossible to exactly identify the causes of a beginning of a crisis of a maturing adolescent. All involved examined persons were nevertheless faced with a mirror of their own testimonies through the results of psycho-diagnostical tests, artefacts and discussions with their parents, teachers, vocational trainers and especially with themselves. And together with them, we were searching for a way out from their crisis. The theoretical solutions explain the key concepts and their relations directly to psychological research and its application into the therapeutic care. They describe a...
