Production of cold
Soľár, Slavomír ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on description of cool production and properties of two basic cooling units. There are also included calculations for comparing these two units in term of consumption and operating expenses. Part of labour is devoted to applications of units in Czech Republic and rest of World, where the system of district cooling is used. It is also important to acquaint with legislation and regulations, which are related with production of cool and manipulation with equipments and refrigerants.
The heat dissipation efficiency of the steam generator Dukovany at low water levels
Veselý, Jakub ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to simulate the course of events during Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant blackout and to determine the optimal process of cooling down the cold branches of the primary circuit loops to secure the maximum amount of the primary fuel needed for the residual heat outlet so that the operating staff has as much time as possible for renewing the electric power supply. The first part of the thesis describes nuclear power plants built in the Czech Republic and in the world as well as reactor blocks whose construction is being considered. The detailed description of Dukovany’s steam generator is shared in chapter three. Following chapter summarizes blackouts that occurred at power plants around the world, events that might have led to blackouts in the Czech Republic, and it also describes current approach to blackout problematics at Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. Chapters six and seven contain the core of the thesis. That includes detailed description of a mathematical model explaining the behaviour of a reactor block during blackout as well as the analysis of the results found.
Osmotic power plants
Šikula, František ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
The main purpose of this bachelor thesis is a theoretical description and an analysis of osmotic plants, mainly their suitability for being used as an alternative source for energy making. In the first part of this thesis are explained elementary principles of converting osmotic power to energy. In the next part are presented main characteristic features of an osmotic power plant. This section consist of description of its potential location, of water pre-treatment and of membranes units. The last section of this thesis consists of a case study, which analyses a potential osmotic power plant located in Scotland. In this case study are summarized all assumed approximate costs of this power plant. In the conclusion was proved that nowadays osmotic power plants are not financially favorable.
Thermal degradation of the wood with the application of fire retardants
Woffová, Helena ; Poláčik, Ján (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis is applied on the area of wood burning and how retarders affect the process. The theoretical part is composed of research of chemical composition of wood and its processes that exist during wood burning. Also, impacts of these retarders on these processes have been analyzed as well as methods of the research. The experimental part contains applied termogravimetric analysis of chosen retardant and its evaluation.
Ranque-Hilsh vortex tube
Obrlík, Jan ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube is thermally-fluid device in which there is a conversion of the pressure energy of the incoming fluid stream to heat energy of two exiting streams without any mechanical parts. The first part of this paper deal with the basic distribution, applications and principle of the vortex tube, which is not fully understood. In the second part there has been carried out a search about performed experimental measurements. Based on this research is designed optimized experiment. The last part of work is the evaluation of the measurement, which was carried out on an industrial vortex tube.
Brown Coal Power Plants in Czech Republic
Šperka, Radim ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Špiláček, Michal (advisor)
The thesis describes brown-coal power plants in the Czech Republic. The first part discusses brown coal as a mineral raw material, its mining in the Czech Republic, the impact of mining on the environment and ecological territorial limits.. The second part deals with the Thermo-dynamic working cycles in the power plant. Also deals with various technological parts of brown-coal power plant, including equipment and procedures for the cleaning of exhaust gases. The last part describes the most important individual brown-coal power plants in the Czech Republic, their brief history, the technical parameters and the planned service life.
Analysis of the usability of a reduction-cooling steam uniton the principle of a vortex tube
Vintr, Lukáš ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of the thesis was to describe the current issues of the reduction-cooling station, vortex tube, comment on its use and the design a classic reduction station as the first case. The second practical part was an analysis or comparison of a reduction cooling station operating on the principle of a vortex tube with a conventional one. At the end of the thesis, the problem of determining the radius for the total number of pairs taken is explained. The problem is caused by the instability of potential vortex, which arises mainly because we want to take away matter, but we need to conserve energy. The assumption for the total number of pairs is that it will be more than 10 times higher than the standard variant of the reduction cooling station. From the principle of the vortex tube and the available results, it is clear that the device could be used only for cooling, not for reduction.
Shale gas extraction
Podhorský, Jakub ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis on Shale gas extraction describes extraction and world shale gas resources. At the beginning it provides introduction to the terms of geology and overview of historical evolution of extraction and crucial technologies that are currently used in extraction. Shale gas exploration and extraction development is briefly mentioned. Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing is then further described and also summary of the equipment is provided. Potential environmental risks associated with extraction or hydraulic fracturing itself are described. Subsequently world shale gas resources and potential extraction places are described. World technically recoverable resources are estimated at 7245 Tcf. Shale gas commercial production is currently underway in the United States, Canada and China.
Design of turbocharger
Streďanská, Alexandra ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
Diploma thesis focus on the design of turbocharger in SW MS Excel. For required flow and pressure ratio, the thermodynamics parameters were calculated for the turbocharger. From these, geometry was designed and the condition of mediums was calculated for each part of the turbine and compressor. At last basic characteristics of the turbine and compressor on varying the regime of engine operation the rotation was made and offered an idea about the working point position.
The flange gasket modification of TC SVO1 ion filter manhole on the VVER 440 NPP
Šnajdárek, Ladislav ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Šen, Hugo (advisor)
This diploma thesis is engaged in replacement of gasket ion filter used in the ion filter of continuous cleaning TC SV01 of rector coolant in nuclear power plants with VVER 440 reactor. Original nickel gasket is replaced by kammprofile gasket with expanded graphite. Calculation results are compared with each other and are described as suggestions for further calculation. The first part included a detailed description of the primary coolant water chemistry, along with a description of the function and structure of ion filter.
