The quality assessment of the town of Plzeň population forecast Abstract The purpose of this study is the quality assessment of the town of Plzeň population forecast and its suburbs from 1996 and the quality assessment of the town of Plzeň population forecast from 2003. The assessment is mainly focused on the age structure of the population. The main tools of the assessment are Keyfitz's quality index of prediction and the indication of the average deviation of the quality of prediction from 100 %. The results of the study show the impact of the time horizon on the error of the forecast, differences between the errors due to individual age structures and the importance of the population registration.
