Selected ethical problems related to the treatment of people with mental diseases from the perspective of Christian ethics

The thesis deals with some selected ethical problems related to the treatment of people with mental diseases. The work views these problems from the perspective of Christian Catholic ethics. The text focuses on the situation in the Czech Republic. Firstly, it defines the basic concepts, describes the forms of psychiatric care and introduces the basic ethical, theological and anthropological bases. The work also takes into account the knowledge of sociology, law and especially psychiatry. The description of specific groups of mental disorders provides the necessary basis for ethical reflection in the dissertation. The selected ethical problems themselves are viewed in the context of the relationship of society, professionals and family towards the mentally ill. Christian ethics is based on biblical texts and contemporary statements of the Magisterium.
The Czech Bible Translations from the Beginning of the 20th Century up to the Present

The thesis deals with the Czech translations of the Old Testament, the New Testament or the whole Holy Bible, which where made between 1900-2010. It introduces the Scripture translators and their collaborators, the origin of particular translations, the reviews in press, responses to their editions. It only makes a general passing comment about the linguistic aspect of the translations, however it indicates trends, which influenced some of the translators in their work.
The Life and Work of Beatified Hyacint Maria Cormier OP and His Relationship to Czech Lands

The thesis briefly describes the life and work of beatified Hyacint Maria Cormier OP. Then the thesis deals with the recovery miracle, that resulted into the beatification of this Dominican. Finally it briefly mentions today´s respect to this saint in Bohemia. The thesis content covers several historic periods. However, the unifying motive remains in the person of H.M. Cormier.
