The Importance of Sauna at Pre - School Children at Kindergarten

The aim of this thesis is to verify the contribution of sauna bathing of preschool age children which is run on the premises of kindergartens. The theoretical part deals with definitions of the relevant terms. It looks into the history and classification of sauna, describes the health benefits and its positive impact on child organism. One part concentrates on particularities of sauna in preschool age and the following methodology of sauna bath for this specific age group. The practical part evaluates the results of mixed methods research, which has been done in three kindergartens in South Bohemia. The worked out results presented in the dissertation are based on the interviews of the kindergarten teachers and children who took part in sauna bathing. Next there are the results of direct observation of sauna bath and the outcomes of a survey which was directed to the parents of the children who took sauna.
