Role of the army in the state at the time of transition : case study of civil-military relations in Egypt

In connection with the events of the Arab Spring in 2011, the region of northern Africa in particular underwent significant political changes. One of the states in which widespread protests caused the overturn of the authoritarian regime and subsequently established the democratization process was also Egypt, whose case is profoundly analysed in the second part of the thesis. Generally speaking, the thesis is concerned with the analysis of civil-military relations in states characterized by the low political culture. In the first place, it focuses on societies undergoing democratization process where the military traditionally maintains strong position within the state and hence often assumes the role of the leader of the transition. Therefore, the principal objective of the analysis constitutes the role of the army at the time of transition to democracy. At the same time, the thesis poses three research questions aiming partly at the military position, partly at the motives determining the willingness of the military to intervene. In the second part, the thesis analyses the given case through five defined factors which it subsequently examines in two levels: conceptual and interventionist. Crisis Communication of Prague ZOO after the Floods in the Years 2002 and 2013: Comparative Study

The Bachelor thesis ‚Crisis Communication of Prague Zoo after the Floods in the Years 2002 and 2013: Comparative Study' concerns with the analysis of the principles, tools and the messages used in communication campaigns of Prague Zoo in connection with the floods in the years 2002 and 2013. Firstly, the theoretical framework is defined based on the description of particular key elements, principles and phases of communication process. Additionally, the thesis shortly discusses the phenomenon of volunteering and philanthropy in the Czech Republic. Focusing on particular communication campaigns of Prague Zoo, the above-mentioned elements are further analysed with respect to the context of the situation during which both campaigns were carried out. It concerns with the content of the messages, roles of the communicators, tools used in the campaigns, communication aiming at stakeholders or the techniques of addressing and organising volunteers. In the conclusion, the effectiveness of both applied crisis communications is compared and the analogy, progress or changes therein are identified.
The Issue of Application of the Western Model of Democracy: a Case Study of the Political System of Argentina

The Bachelor Thesis "The Issue of Application of the Western Model of Democracy: a Case Study of the Political System of Argentina" concerns a Western conception of democracy and its application on non-Western states. Firstly, based on compilation of various definitions of a democratic regime, the consequent conditions guaranteeing democratic system in a state are assessed. Regarding the political system in Argentina, on which the paper focuses as an instrumental study, it examines specific factors that largely influence the final form of the political system. The factors included are historical development, evolution and description of political parties, constitutional system and last but not least socioeconomic conditions. Consequently, the paper analyses the political system of Argentina according to abovementioned preconditions, in compliance with which the democratic character is evaluated. In the conclusion, the thesis discusses applicability of Western system to non- Western countries, whilst in the case of deviant form of applied political system it defines the causes considerably influencing its present imperfect form of adopted system.
