Differential diagnosis of ADHD and its key elements in distinguishing it from borderline personality disorder
Spálenská, Alena ; Šmotek, Michal (advisor) ; Čechová, Alena (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the issues of differential diagnosis of ADHD in general, and then focusing on the key elements for differentiating ADHD and borderline personality disorder. ADHD is a significantly underdiagnosed disorder in the adult population. One of the main causes is symptomatic overlap with other disorders, which are also often comorbid with ADHD. The current wording of the diagnostic criteria is also problematic, as it does not include all the symptoms of ADHD and, moreover, does not adequately reflect the specific manifestations of the disorder in adults. There are also as yet no objective measures by which ADHD can be diagnosed. Misdiagnosis leads to people with ADHD missing proper treatment that could alleviate the significant psychosocial impairments associated with the disorder. The theoretical part of this thesis summarizes the diagnostic methods for ADHD as well as the problem areas that make correct diagnosis difficult. The thesis also provides a summary of the diagnoses that are most often comorbid or confused with ADHD, along with the ways in which each disorder differs. The main focus of the paper is the differential diagnosis of ADHD and borderline personality disorder. In this paper we have identified key symptomatic overlaps as well as manifestations typical of...
Non-invasive lung ventilation in intensive care from the nurse's point of view
Čechová, Alena ; Juřena, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Máca, Jan (referee)
Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is a method that can provide a respiratory support during the respiratory failure and reduce the need for invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) with its risks and complications. However, the failure rate of NIV use remains high. Furthermore, intubation and invasive mechanical ventilation required after NIV failure shows to provide worse patients outcomes compared to their early intubation. While nurses are an integral part of management of these patients contributing to the NIV success, the thesis deals with the nurses' viewpoint of this problematics. In the research, there were involved general nurses and paramedics working in the field of intensive care, where the most of the patients indicated to this treatment are located in the Czech Republic. A qualitative research method performed by the semi-structured interviews has been used for this purpose. It focuses three main areas: 1) acquiring the knowledge and skills, 2) the most common problems and related troubleshooting and 3) the difficulty of caring for the patients with NIV compared to use of invasive ventilation. The research shows that most of the skills nurses need to care for these patients are gained by multiple clinical experience. On the contrary, the role of the school education is insignificant in this...

Basovníková, Eva ; Čechová, Alena (advisor) ; Řehořová, Irena (referee)
The diploma thesis The Intermediality of Signs in Electronic Communication: the Use of Emoticon as New Means of Expression provides the medial and semiotic view of electronic communication as non-verbal means of expression. In addition to that, it also tries to reveal its specific features. The diploma thesis presents emoticon not only as a feature of the Internet but it also refers to its intermedial dimension which is apparent in printed media. The purpose of the research is firstly set into the broader thematic context to familiarize the reader with the character of the Internet setting. Furthermore, he/she gets a summary of medial and sign conceptions. In the practical part the knowledge is applied when analyzing individual extracts which prove the intermediality of emoticon. The sign is presented in a magazine, comic, book and commercial where the unifying and different tendencies in its function are discovered on the basis of the medial opposition the Internet - press. The extracts reveal an emotional sign as original means of expression. On the other hand, they repeatedly present it as a stereotypically used myth. On the basis of this thesis the reader learns more about this communication phenomenon. Besides, it is easier for him/her to form an idea on cardinal principles of the signs' function in media.

The phenomenon of "Czech aesthetics" in reflection of the Czech aesthetic thought
Čechová, Alena ; Foglarová, Eva (advisor) ; Hlobil, Tomáš (referee)
century. Before that, F. Palacký dealt with the aesthetics history, although his "Přehled dějin krásovědy a její literatury" (1823) deals only with the world aesthetics history. Palacký was convinced about the fact that in the Czech setting it is not possible to talk about a development of any aesthetic theories. His work significantly influenced Czech aesthetic historiography because Palacký accepted the idea of development. In his opinion all man's endeavour is aimed to achieve humanity (much later M. Novák also thinks the same way). The need for recording history of the Czech aesthetics appeared not until a half of 19th century. The effort to make the national philosophy independent was the main condition for this need. Herbartians - F. Čupr, J. Dastich and J. Durdík - returned to aesthetic ideas of Tomáš Štítný ze Štítného whom they, by mistake, considered to be the original thinker and predecessor of formal aesthetics. Among Czech Herbartian writings we can find not only revivalist efforts, but also certain "cosmopolitanism", knowledge that Herbart's philosophy is the holder of the truth (Herbart's philosophy was important for Czech philosophical thinking mainly because of terminology). The name Štítný became "a milestone" in the Czech aesthetics history. It played an important role in A. Krecar's work...

The labour law disputes are highlighted as a typical example of a conflict. The third part describes possible solutions to the labour law disputes and then focuses on the presented method,...
