Gene Therapy and the Evolution of Cancer Treatment

The continued understanding of gene structure, function and how its product interacts in the human body has lead to new wave of ideas on cancer therapy. Gene therapy, which 20 years ago was just a dream is now a very real possibility and alternative to the conventional treatments. Three new methods of utilizing alternative gene structure and manipulating the body's response to induce a tumor effect are presented here. Immunotherapy is the induction of the human immune system against an unwanted antigen. Viral oncolysis is the utilization and manipulation of natural human pathogens against tumor cells. Gene transfer is the addition of deletion of vital genes responsible for cell growth and apoptosis.
The study of epigenetic regulation of gene HLA II. Clas within family relationships

Introduction: At our post-genomic era the studies of epigenetic regulation constitutes one of the tools for understanding the function of genes. Epigenetic regulation can directly control the temporal and spatial gene activity or silencing. The molecular basis of these regulations are DNA bases modifications, chromatin remodeling and RNA interference. At the same time, these mechanisms have a special way of transferring genetic information to subsequent generations called epigenetic inheritance. It has been proven epigenetic deregulation of certain genes as cause for many disease. For this reason, the study of epigenome HLA genes seems particularly important because these genes play a fundamental role in regulating the immune system. Aims: The aim of this work is to create a description of epigenetic modifications within families. It is an analysis of histone modifications and DNA methylation in the promoter region of the gene HLA DQA1. The aim was also to compare the differences in epigenetic modifications between alleles and compared the differences in these modifications between generations. Mentally-Retarded Children of a Pre-School Age and the Development of Movement Skills

The diploma work covers the issues of children with mental retardation in pre-school age aimed to the development of the movement abilities. It focuses on the relationships between the pre-school child with mental retardation and possibilities of developing its motor skills in context of an organized pre-school education. Theoretical part of the Diploma work indicates the development specifics of the indi- vidual due to mental retardation, describes mainly the movement development of the child with mental retardation, its specifics and possibilities of observation. It addresses the history and current stage of an organized pre-school care of children with mental re- tardation and within the issue, it points out the position of physical training / education within the educational process of the Kindergarten. Practical part proves on cases of children with mental retardation the uniqueness and typicality of development of such children. By the proposed possible motion activities and games for children with mental retardation attending Kindergarten, its aim is to em- phasize on the importance and ineligibility of intentional development of motor skills, and by that also of the whole personality of the child with mental retardation. The Teaching of English to Pupils with Special Needs

I will deal with educational methods used by teachers during the English language lesson taught in the classes attended by integrated pupils with specific learning disability in my diploma work. The aim of my diploma work is to describe which methods, styles of work and tools are used for education. I will present definition of specific learning disability, causes and symptoms; legislation relevant to integrated pupils with specific learning disability and methods and principles education of pupils with specific learning disability and symptoms of disability during the English language lesson in theoretic part of my diploma work. In practical part, I will present results of my study. This study will realize by using methods "sitting in on a class" and interviews with teachers at 10 primary schools in Prague, in the 4th and 8th grade by two lessons in the spring of school year 2004/2005.
Schooling for Pupils with Mental Disabilities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Diplomová práce je rozčleněna do šesti kapitol. V prvních čtyřech kapitolách jsem se pokusila o teoretický vhled do problematiky školství pro mentálně postižené v Severním Porýní-Vestfálsku. V páté kapitole jsem popsala konkrétní příklad fungování školství pro mentálně postižené v Severním Porýní-Vestfálsku, konkrétně v Dortmundu ve výše zmíněné škole. Šestou poslední kapitolu doplňuje závěr, ve kterém jsem zmínila nejdůležitější poznatky, které jsem díky této práci získala a které by mohly být zamyšlením pro naši speciální pedagogiku. První kapitola vytváří přehled základních pojmů, týkajících se školství v Německu a pojmosloví ze speciální pedagogiky. Pomáhá tak v lepší orientaci v dalším textu. Druhá kapitola přináší krátkou informaci o spolkové zemi Severní Porýní- Vestfálsko a stejně i o jejím systému školství. Nechybí pohled na možnosti vzdělávání pro žáky s postižením. Poslední její část se pak zabývá pohledem na definici a klasifikaci mentální retardace z německého pohledu. Třetí poněkud obsáhlejší kapitola pak seznamuje s legislativním rámcem školství pro žáky s mentálním postižením. The topic of this diploma work involves investigation of services provided in educational counseling institutions and evaluation of assessment methods used for pre-school and school aged children. The aim is to investigate and describe the assessment process, utilized assessment tools and methods and also to evaluate the quality of services provided by counseling institutions in the region of Jičín city. Family of a Child with a Mental Disability - Entry into the World of Adults

This diploma work is directed to the life of the family with a child with mental handicap in the time, when the child finished his compulsory school attendance and should enter the adult's world. Teoretical part pays attention to family and its function, since the birth of the child with mental handicap. Parts of parents, brothers and sisters and grandparents. Next part is about maturing a about problems of young people with mental handicap in this time. By the way of life story practical part shows lifes of four concrete families and their specifics in time, when their child enters the next life stages colled maturity. This 4 stories are able to compare with life story of a woman with mental handicap, who had gone throught this time 25 years ago. Main attention is devoted to the real possibilities and to the life perspectives of this families and of their children.
Social Welfare for Persons with Mental Disabilities - A Comparison of the State and Non-State Sectors

The aim of my thesis is to describe and compare sociál institutions for the mentally ill based on the institution founder. Parents' opinions on the quality of the services offered are dealt with as well. The theoretical part is focused on basic terminology, definitions, classifications, psychological specifications, education and training of the mentally disabled people. The core of my thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the comparison of the institutions based on their founder, where a questionnaire was used. The second part pursues the opinions of parents whose mentally disabled children regularly have daily or week-long stays in these institutions. In this part of my study I used interviews to gain my research material. I will use the information and knowledge gained during my study and the results of my thesis to improve the quality of my own work in the institution and also as enlightenment for communication with other people.

Specific language in region Choceň in three generations

The main aim of this dialectal bachelor thesis is to find out if characteristic features of specific dialectical group (severovychodoceska podskupina) are possible to find in ordinary language of native speakers, who come from Choceň. The work is divided into two parts and starts with theoretical part. The practical part is then focused on analysis of recordings of the dialectal speech. These recordings are made with three generations (old, middle and the youngest). The material is analysed from phonetic, morphological, syntactic and lexical point of view.
