The influence of central serotoninergic and dopaminergic activity on nutritional and metabolic parameters

THE INFLUENCE OF CENTRAL SEROTONINERGIC AND DOPAMINERGIC ACTIVITY ON NUTRITIONAL AND METABOLIC PARAMETERS MUDr. Ludmila Brunerová SUMMARY Introduction: Neuromediators dopamine and serotonin play a significant role in homeostatic and hedonic regulation of food intake, may exert direct metabolic effects and particularly serotonin influences affectivity. Their central activity could be quantified by functional tests. Common regulatory mediators of metabolism and affectivity represent an interesting research goal. Aims of study: The first aim was to describe the relationship between central serotoninergic activity measured by citalopram challenge test, affectivity, preference of macronutrients in food and metabolic profile in healthy men. The second aim was to confirm the use of sublingual apomorphine test as a functional test for assessment of central dopaminergic activity. The third aim was to reveal the relationship between central dopaminergic activity measured by sublingual apomorphine test, preference of macronutrients and metabolic profile. Neuroimmune and endocrine correlates of stress response and dissociation in affective disorders

Depression and other mental disorders are the leading cause of disability worldwide and their burden has increased considerably over past decades. However, advances in psychopharmacology of psychiatric disorders are not in measure with this negativ trend. As a result, a large body of researchinpsychiatryandneurosciencestries to furtherourunderstanding of pathophysiologicalmechanismsunderlyingmooddisorders andothermentalillnesses in order to improve the efficacy of current treatments and to identify new therapeutic agents. According to current evidence, stress-related pathways and inflammation processes are directly involved in thedevelopment of depressive disorder andseveral other psychiatric conditions.Thestudy of the effects and consequences of stress exposure requires an interdisciplinary approach,taking into account specific aspects of the "inputs", such as chronic stress and traumatic experiences, and related psychological processes, with the crucial role of dissociation. Innate and acquired navigational abilities of animals are often used for purposes cf study of neural mechanisms and modeling of cognitive functions. Detailed analysis of behavior allows Berger understanding of some brain structures, such as the hippocampus, entorhinal and posterior parietal cortices, and their role in these phenomena. Most of behavioral tasks involved stable environment, although the world surrounding us dynamically changes every minute. The thesis aimed at extending the knowledge of behavior of laboratory animals in mobile environments and the involvement of brain structures in processing of dynamit information.

Závěr Naše výsledky tedy ukazují, že ve stabilním zdravotním systému zneužívání návykových látek není hlavní příčinou násilného chování u schizofreniků. Prevence zneužívání návykových látek tedy není dostatečnou strategií к redukci násilného chování u těchto pacientů. К jeho redukci by spíše mohly přispět terapeutické intervence cílené na zvládnutí impulsivních stavů a poruch osobnosti, které se v současnosti jeví jako hlavní příčiny násilného chování schizofreniků (Nolan et al., 1999; Nolan et al., 2003). Zavedení psychoterapeutických technik, cílených na tyto charakteristiky, jako je například kognitivně behaviorální terapie zaměřená na zvládání zlosti, už ukazují slibné výsledky u pacientů s PTSD, psychotickými poruchami a poruchami psychického vývoje (Chemtob et al., 1997; Novaco, 2003). Terapie atypickými antipsychotiky, která podle současných poznatků zlepšuje kognitivní fungování u pacientů se schizofrenií (Bilder et al., 2002) , by mohla vést к redukci útoků, vznikajících na základě špatného pochopení situace.
