Information systems in medicine with a focus on scientific information in clinical practice and biomedical research

The dissertation deals with information systems in medicine with a focus on scientific information. Topics are treated from the perspective of a user, whether a scientist or a doctor in the clinical practice. Attention is therefore devoted to information sources, search tools, the ability to communicate and share scientific information, and current methods of analytical and synthetic processing of published medical literature, both at the level of value-added information services and at the level of automatic text processing. -- The topics mentioned above are divided into separate chapters. A large portion of the text devoted to new information sources is added to an overview of traditional biomedical databases. Further, current trends in biomedical information searching are described. Next, current possibilities of communication and sharing of scientific knowledge via the Internet and applications and services of Web 2.0 ar listed. Particular attention is paid to scientific information for clinical desicion-making support. -- The dissertation newly presents a comprehensive classification of biomedical information resources supplemented by illustrative examples. Digital libraries with open access in science and research area and identification and metadata description of their objects

Thesis is devoted to the analysis of open accessible digital libraries in science and research and, at practical level, thesis puts Czech national metadata sets prepared within research and ETD digital libraries development in the Czech Republic. The second chapter presents terminology issues in digital libraries area and general models of digital libraries - "Kahn-Wilensky" architecture and Reference Model Open Archival Information System (OAIS) with special regard to institutional repositories. The third chapter contains the survey of development and current state of open access to information in science and research and its main resources including initiatives of its support. The fourth chapter presents selected systems of open access electronic archives or digital libraries in science and research. Included are selected systems and services in computer science, economics, library and information science, social science, the specific British system of internet resources Intute, digital libraries with citation services and ETDs digital libraries. The fifth chapter presents the outputs of research - Czech national metadata sets for ETDs description and communication with added issues of persistent identifiers of information entities. 3

Classified information as one means of legal restrictions on free access to information in the Czech Republic

Tém atem rigorózní práce, která aktualizuje a doplňuje diplom ovou práci autora, je zm apování a zhodnocení postavení institutu " u ta jo v a n ý c h in fo r m a c í" ve sm yslu zák o n a číslo 412/2005 Sb., o o chraně u ta jo v an ý ch inform ací a o b e zp e č n o stn í způsobilosti, jako jed noho z nejvýznam nějších současných nástrojů zákonného omezení svobodného přístupu k informacím v České republice. Na konkrétní problém y, nepřesnosti a n edostatky této problem atiky je nahlíženo z n ěkolika zorných úhlů. Na p říkladech z praxe jsou pak jednotlivé sporné otázky a možnosti jejich řešení dem onstrovány a vysvětleny. Rigorózní práce je rozčleněna do tří částí. První část je věnována aspektům obecného přístupu k informacím, druhá část pak možnostem jeho zákonného omezení, zejména při uplatnění zákona číslo 106/1999 Sb., o svobodném p řístupu k inform acím . Část třetí, která je pro účel práce stěžejní, pak obrací svou pozornost k institutu utajovaných informací. Ve všech částech je poukázáno na historický vývoj, popis a analýzu současného stavu. Dále pak jsou jednotlivé aspekty a hlediska problem atiky detailně analyzovány a dem onstrovány prostřednictvím praktických příkladů.

Ostrava City Information Centre as a learnig organization

The doctoral degree work deals with selected theoretical chapters of Learning Organization with its own corporate culture in the process of change in information society. Development is defined, the main ideas are identified, described is the implementation of a diagnosis, the benefits and potential risks to the organization of learning and its corporate culture. Mentioned are the ethical disciplines, factors of quality and success. The phenomenon of learning organizations is described in practical examples in the last chapter of the work. Benefit is the practical orientation in the process of analysis, review and set new business strategies and the change management of the company.

Regional function of libraries in Pilsen region

Hlavním tématem rigorózní práce je výkon regionálních funkcí v Plzeňském kraji. Celý text je dělen na dvě části. První, teoretická část se věnuje jak metodické činnosti v českých knihovnách před rokem 1989, jehož součástí je i zákon č. 53/59 Sb., o jednotné soustavě knihoven, tak novému krajskému systému knihoven ČR, který vychází ze zákona č. 271/2001 Sb., o knihovnách a podmínkách provozování knihovnických informačních služeb. V textu je dále popsána definice a krátký vývoj regionálních funkcí, jejich struktura a financování. Z teoretické části vychází praktická část o výkonu regionálních funkcí v Plzeňském kraji. Na analýzu stavu knihoven a poznatky z počátků zavádění výkonu regionálních funkcí navazuje hodnocení dalších let výkonu regionálních funkcí, která byla financována ze státního rozpočtu. Zásadním mezníkem je pak změna financování výkonu regionálních funkcí a z toho vyplývající důsledky. Závěr práce je věnován výhledům do budoucna. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Research Group Collaboration Using Information and Communication Technology: Situation in Selected Groups in the Czech Republic

Dissertation Mgr. Ilona Trtíková Research Group Collaboration Using Information and Communication Technology: Situation in Selected Groups in the Czech Republic Abstract The dissertation deals with collaboration within research groups and with their environment using information and communication technology. A qualitative probe research was conducted to see how the collaboration works, at what levels, what kind of information and data is shared with the use of what software tools and services. An overview of available types of collaboration software was made. Semi-structured interviews were conducted in selected research groups on the basis of which the patterns and tools for collaboration were established. The grounded theory method was chosen to process the data collected from interviews and analyses. The result of the thesis is the research cycle with marked activities in which cooperation is taking place in the studied groups. This documents the state of usage of information and communication technology in research collaboration. It was found that information and communication technology does have an impact on research work in the whole scientific cycle in the studied research groups. Information Support of Project Teams

The aim of the diploma thesis is to outline the possibilities of information support of project teams by an Informational Specialist. The theoretical part introduces different project management methodologies and further specifies the individual project phases as seen by PMBoK methodology. In the chapters focusing on each of the phases of a project, all necessary input sources as well as all output documents that are essential for the project to move on to its next phase are defined and elaborated on. This part is followed by a description of possibilities of information support for working with information sources and creating output documents with regard to competencies, which an Information Specialist should have. Key in this respect is the third and the fourth chapter, including specific proposals on the possibility of information support of a project team by an Information Specialist. The practical part is focused on the role of an Information Specialist in the implementation of a specific project in a company - in particular, a major financial institution on the Czech market. While the theoretical part is based on the study of literature, the practical part is mainly based on personal consultation with a Project Manager of the company.
