The evaluation predation of pheasant nests in Prague and vicinity
Melecká, Radka ; Kušta, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tomáš, Tomáš (referee)
The graduation Theses deals with a predation of pheasants nests. The aim of this work was to observe predation of the nests in model areas in the neighbourhood of Prague. There were chosen two natural parks such as Draháň Trója and the natural reserve Údolí Únětického potoka which is located between Praha Suchdol and Únětice village. The intention of our work was to map an occurrence of pheasants predators and consequently evaluate the biggest risks of pheasants nesting. Within the evaluation of predation of the nests we have also set artificial pheasants nests located on the sunny places of bushes and arable land of mentioned locations. Interesting results were collected; concretely in the valley of Únětický potok was predated up to 35% of artificial nests and in Draháň as much as 85%. Between the main predators belonged the fox (Vulpes vulpes), martens (Martes spp.), pied mannikin (Pica spp.) and wild boar (Sus scrofa). Based on these results was made a conclusion that there is a suitable game management provide by the local hunting organization. We have made a recommendation to build up more interim and lasting covers feeding hoppers and bio corridors for pheasants. In the area of Draháň was recommended to apply for a special statutory exception to reduce predators on not huntable lands by catching trapping.

Cr(VI) adsorption to synthetic mixture of soil minerals
Pehová, Edita ; Veselská, Veronika (advisor) ; Tomáš, Tomáš (referee)
Due to its toxicity, the Cr(VI) is known as a substance with negative effects on the environment. Understanding of Cr mobility, speciation and its toxicity helps to prevent negative impacts of this contaminant in soils, natural waters and atmosphere. This diploma thesis deals with a mechanism of Cr(VI) adsorption on to mixture of selected soil minerals as quartz, kaolinite and ferrihydrite based on mineralogical and chemical composition of the real contaminated soil. Main goal of diploma thesis is to test the selected surface complexation model, the DLM (diffuse layer model), which could be able to capture the process of Cr(VI) adsorption in natural heterogenic systems like soils. Component additivity approach (CA) was tested. The adsorption experiments were performed with three different concentrations of Cr(VI) (10-4, 10-5, 10-6) as a function of pH at different ionic strengths. Obtained data were used for modelling of adsorption edges and for DLM testing. Results confirmed, that Cr(VI) adsorption in synthetic mixture of enlarged soil minerals, is controlled mainly by presence of Fe-(oxy)hydroxides. The mechanistic surface complexation models used for modelling of Cr(VI) adsorption onto synthetic mineral mixtures, based on real mixed ratios of representative mineral phases in soils, can be useful for prediction of processes responsible for transport and retention of the Cr(VI) in soils.
Effect of mineral fertilizer before sowing the embedding seeders yield poppy (Papaver somniferum L.)
Hrušková, Jana ; Cihlář, Pavel (advisor) ; Tomáš, Tomáš (referee)
Poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) is plant which is in Czech Republic cultivated and consumed for a long time. Czech Republic was the biggest producer of poppy seeds in the world. It is not true currently but Czech Republic is still one of the most important producers of poppy. Czech growers produce high quality poppy seeds but they had several problems during last years. For example fluctuation of price of poppy and bad weather condition. Those problems influenced crop. Those complications caused that growers of poppy try to have stable yields for good profit. Yield parameters, such as amount and quality of poppy seeds and volume of alkaloids, are the most important for growers. Amount and quality of poppy seeds are important for food industry and volume of alkaloids for pharmaceutical industry. The parameters are influenced especially by climatic and soil conditions. Growers are not able to influence climatic factors such as intensity and regularity of rainfalls, actual temperature and wind conditions. But they can influence other factors by good agrotechnical interventions. One of the most important parameters for good growth of poppy is volume of elements in soil, especially nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, calcium and microelements, boron and zinc. Except that things is very important good soil treatment, suitable technology, right term for sowing and choice of good seeds. For intensive producing of poppy seeds is very important protection against pests, diseases and weed. Like prevention is important good soil treatment and other things such as application of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides and seed dressing by fungicides. This work includes general overview about poppy growing focusing on influence of mineral fertilizers on yields of different variety of poppy. We did experiment, the goal of experiment was to find out influence of application of mineral fertilizers on poppy yields. We used two different variety of poppy and we evaluated influence of said factors. Subjects of observation were yield parameters, amount of plants on 1m2, weight of poppy, weight of capsules and HTS (weight of thousand seeds).

Analysis of market parameters of groundnuts in Mazowe district, Zimbabwe
Mbangani, Donald ; Kandakov, Alexander (advisor) ; Tomáš, Tomáš (referee)
Groundnut has been grown for many decades by small scale rural farmers in Zimbabwe as a means to boost their income. Production has been declining since the turn of the millennium due to many reasons which includes among others, having unsustained markets which has seen the country importing from neighbouring countries. The aim of the study was to investigate the availability and accessibility of groundnut markets in addition to analysing the factors influencing rural farmers marketing decisions with particular emphasis on prices. Literature sources and previous research suggested that women take a leading role in the marketing of groundnuts and market prices are highly seasonal. To fulfil the aims of the thesis, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in Mazowe district. A questionnaire was administered to 100 respondents from 10 randomly selected wards in the district. Key informant interviews and focus group discussions were also conducted to triangulate the findings from the main survey. Data capturing was done using SPSS version 20 and the analysis was done using MS Excel. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics, Friedman rank test and time series analysis. A Likert scaling technique was used to rate farmers perception on factors affecting price of groundnuts on the markets. Findings from the research indicated that groundnut markets are available in Mazowe district though the more lucrative ones are less readily accessible for rural farmers. Time series analysis of prices revealed that they are seasonal with the highest prices in April and lowest in July. The study concluded that three marketing channels are available in the study area and women play a significant role in groundnut marketing even though various constraints to marketing were cited.
