Thesis Title: Birds in Kralovska obora Stromovka as an educational topic Author: Bc. Adéla Řezníčková University supervisor: PhDr. Ing. Silvie Svobodová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The thesis explores the utilization of Královská obora Stromovka, an urban park, as a suitable location for organizing excursions and environmental educational programs focused on birds. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of zoological topics, specifically bird- related subjects, within the curriculum framework and examines their treatment in textbooks. Furthermore, the theoretical section provides a characterization of the chosen location from both historical and current perspectives, along with an overview of bird protection regulations in European and Czech legislation. The concluding portion of the theoretical part outlines excursions as an educational method and environmental education program. The primary objective of the thesis is to develop, implement, and evaluate an environmental education program that integrates students' theoretical knowledge of birds and principles of environmental education with practical learning in a natural setting, allowing students to connect with their local environment. Three excursions were proposed and conducted, each taking place during a different season. To gather feedback,...
Teaching geology from the point of view of the general public
Lacina, Martin Jakub ; Jedličková, Tereza (advisor) ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (referee)
Within the didactics of natural sciences, research on personal attitudes primarily focuses on the attitudes of direct participants in education, namely students and teachers. The opinions of the general public are often overlooked, even though they play a significant role in shaping students' attitudes. As part of a master's thesis, a questionnaire survey was conducted focusing on the attitudes and opinions of the general public towards geological sciences and their education. Additionally, students from the first and second year of secondary school and teachers of natural science subjects, were approached. The collected data was evaluated using selected statistical methods, which allowed, among other things, the comparison of responses from different target groups of respondents. A total of 727 respondents participated in the questionnaire survey (414 respondents from the general public, 201 students, and 112 teachers). The results indicate that the attitudes of the general public are generally positive. Geology is not considered a difficult and boring subject. Despite all three groups rating geology as an unpopular subject, they regard geological sciences as part of general education. Enthusiastic and motivated teachers, mineral and rock samples, field trips, and excursions are considered the...
Inductive Tasks Focused on Internal Geological Processes in the Biology Education at the Lower Secondary School (ISCED 2)
Nováková, Miroslava ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Svobodová, Silvie (referee)
The diploma thesis is devoted to inductive tasks in the teaching of biology education at the lower secondary school (ISCED 2) with a focus on internal geological processes. In the theoretical part, the inclusion of the teaching of geology in the framework of the curricular documents of the Czech Republic is elaborated, and it also contains a summary of the forms and methods of teaching often used in the teaching of natural history, including didactic principles. For the empirical part, the goal was defined to positively influence the students' attitude towards the teaching of geology through author-designed inductive tasks focused on endogenous geological events. As part of the first questionnaire survey, pupils' attitudes towards natural history and specifically towards geology and its subthematic units were ascertained. The students identified the lithosphere and plate tectonics as challenging and unpopular topics. Inductive tasks were therefore designed on these two topics from endogenous geology. The tasks are processed in the form of preparations for the lessons, including supporting didactic materials, author's solutions, etc. The tasks were verified in the classroom on a sample of two classes selected from the primary school, a total of 52 pupils. A subsequent questionnaire survey revealed a...
Use of an Online Escape Game in the Teaching of Biology at Lower Secondary School
Vopatová, Eliška ; Svobodová, Silvie (advisor) ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the creation and use of educational online escape games in the teaching of biology at the lower secondary school. As part of this thesis, an original online escape game dedicated to the curriculum about carnivoras called Escape from the carnivoras pavilion was created. Based on the theoretical presentation of the activation methods of teaching, the escape game is defined as a unique teaching method. Creation of this game is based on the principles of escape rooms as well as the specifics of educational escape games. Accompanying materials were also created in order to use the Escape from the carnivoras pavilion escape game as a comprehensive learning tool. These materials were a worksheet and a questionnaire for self-assessment of pupils. Together with the game, these were included in the teaching block in two seventh grades of lower secondary school. Its implementation provided space for an overall evaluation of the escape game based on the observation of the pupils' activity and their feedback. Testing the created online escape game in my own teaching proved its functionality from a technical point of view and didactic potential despite minor flaws in the game structure. Subsequent research among 110 teachers outlined the possibilities of further use of the designed...

Post-mining Nature and Living Conditions in Kladno Region and their Perception by Pupils of the Basic School
Krausová, Jana ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
9 ABSTRACT The time of coal and drilling rigs is over. Town citizens, children and especially youth are losing awareness of its recent history as time passes by. This thesis aims to contribute to prevent from losing of unity of town citizens, the town and its problems. Its goal is to create and to document on the sample of pupils of primary schools a level of knowledge of history and development of the town and the region. To reach this goal it was processed and evaluated a knowledge survey whose results formed the basis for the development of an educational program. Its goal was to acquaint students with the state of the landscape of its region, which was affected by coal mining and the subsequent development of heavy industry, to let them realize what phases the town had to go through to become the town they live in, how profitable was mining of coal to the town and what consequences it brought. Some consequences were positive and some were negative. In the introductory part of this thesis in order to introduce the main issue, the brief evaluation of the development of the region and also the description of the consequences of the mining process is placed. Geology of Golden mountains
Buryánková, Radka ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
This bachelor work is summary of the available geology and mineralogy information on geology and mineralogy of Golden mountains area. Rychleby Mountains are situated in the north of Moravia and Silesia. The mountain belongs to the Lusatian (lugikum) and the Silesian region (moravosilesikum) from the regional geological division of the Bohemian Massif. There isn't uniform view at a more detailed breakdown of the studied area (see e. g. Pouba 1962; Kachlík 2003). However representation of rocks of different age and character in all sub-units Golden Mountains are very varied. Highly metamorphosed rocks of Proterozoic age are among the most common rocks of this area. Dating all the rocks in whole region is problematic due to the high degree of metamorphism and the absence of fossils. From the mineralogical point of view is best explored Silesian part of Golden Mountains with the remains of a large number of mines and quarries in the crystalline limestone, deposits of iron ore, graphite and uranium.
