Data Extraction from Product Descriptions
Sláma, Vojtěch ; Očenášek, Pavel (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
This work concentrates on the design and implementation of an automated support for data extraction from product descriptions. This system will be used for e-shop purposes. The work introduces present approaches to information extraction from HTML documents. It focuses chiefly at wrappers and methods for their induction. The visual approach to information extraction is also mentioned. System requirements and basic principles are described in the design part of the work. Next, a detailed description of a path tracing algorithm in document object model is explained. The last section of the work evaluates the results of experiments made with the implemented system.
Analysis of Fingerprint Spoofs Made from Various Materials
Sláma, Vladimír ; Drahanský, Martin (referee) ; Kanich, Ondřej (advisor)
The goal of the work is production of fingerprint spoofs from various materials and develop- ment of algorithm, that analyzes them. Production of fingerprint spoofs is based on casting using printed circuit board (PCB) and other molds. For fingerprint spoofs these materials were used: Herkules, plasticine, Funny gummy, wax, Moody putty and liquid latex. For analysis of the differencies between spoof and the real fingerprint Harris detector was used and then the difference score is counted based on points of interests found. Results are compared with evaluation from VeriFinger software, that can measure matching score of two fingerprints. In most of the cases, the results have same trends when compared.
Influence of vehicle geometry on tire durability and fuel consumption
Sláma, Vladimír ; Langer, Aleš (referee) ; Bilík, Martin (advisor)
Goal of this thesis is to study influence of vehicle geometry on tire durability and fuel consumption. To find out the results, a series of tests in real traffic was performed on different vehicles with different settings of front axle geometry. Data was processed in order to determine the influence. It was proven that geometry influences the tire durability significantly. Influence on fuel consumption is also possible but other factors can affect the consumption more.

Family policy in the Czech Republic and services of care about children in the pre-school age
Sláma, Vladimír ; Munková, Gabriela (advisor) ; Kotous, Jan (referee)
v anglickém jazyce Family policy in the Czech Republic and services of childcare for children of pre-school age This master's degree thesis deals with family policy, in particular with the institutional provisions of childcare services for children of pre-school age, their legislative framework and potential future development. The goal is to find out whether the current legislation of childcare services sufficiently reflects the needs of parents, given demographic developments and the existing socio-cultural and economic context. The first chapter characterizes the current context of family policy in the Czech Republic: We are experiencing rising fertility rates, while people realize parenthood at later stages of their lives. In addition, opinion polls show that 50% of families desire an egalitarian family model with an equal distribution of childcare responsibilities between both parents, thus allowing for the professional development of each. In reality, however, women usually lower their professional ambitions and stay at home taking care of the children. The second chapter suggests that the discrepancy between the desired and the actually practiced family model is a result of existing family policies in the Czech Republic, which prefer the model of the father as the breadwinner and the mother...
Islamophobia and Czech public space. Reception of cartoon affair
Sláma, Vojtěch ; Slačálek, Ondřej (advisor) ; Bíba, Jan (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis will define the concept of Islamophobia on the basis of foreign and Czech literature. Starting point will be, inter alia, Pavel Barša's concept of the "new xenophobia" as well as a comparison between the historical anti-Semitism and contemporary Islamophobia by Matti Bunzl at the same time reflecting the arguments of critics of the concept, as they were presented by Robin Richardson. Following will be a discursive analysis of two Czech media resources: webportal Eurabia, which was the main representative of the Czech Islamophobic rhetoric in the period (2006) and a leading newspaper Mladá Fronta Dnes. The analysis will monitor the ways in which the Mohamed cartoons controversy was thematized, applied characteristics and means of expression. At the same time the thesis will confront the analysis to more general issues stemming from the dialogue with theoretical conceptualizations of Islamophobia: Can we define the analyzed sources' language as Islamophobic? Does Islamophobia actually falls into the definition of "new xenophobia", or is it only a successor of "old" xenophobia? Finally it will attempt to define whether and why the cartoons affairs is symptomatic for the Czech Islamophobia. Keywords islamophobia; new xenophobia; Muhammad cartoon crisis; discourse analysis
Intensity Normalization of Raman Spectra by Means of Various Internal Standards
Sláma, Vladislav ; Mojzeš, Peter (advisor) ; Procházka, Marek (referee)
The work deals with the testing of selected inorganic anions as internal standards for intensity normalization of Raman spectra. Using the concentration and temperature series of aqueous solutions of PO4 3- , (CH3)2AsO2 - , NO3 - a SO4 2- , impact of the spectral changes of the standard bands for reliability and accuracy of the intensity calibration was studied. Temperature and concentration series of the anion Raman spectra are then used to test normalization by means of the bands of stretching and deformation vibrations of water molecules. In addition, reliability and robustness of the calibration procedures exploiting different spectral parameters present in the Raman spectra of standards was tested. Results of the study reveal possible sources of artifacts and misinterpretations arising from insufficient understanding of the standard behavior due to changes of the physical and chemical parameters, or due to improper calibration procedure applied.
Creation and Validation of Pressure Loss Model for Steam Turbine Control Valves
Sláma, V. ; Mrozek, L. ; Tajč, L. ; Šimurda, David ; Hála, Jindřich
In this paper, a creation and a validation of the pressure loss model for the specific and widely used design of the steam turbine inlet control valve assembly called an L-valve is described. This model is based on a wide range of experimental measurements on the valve model installed in an air tunnel and it is validated by numerical simulations using the commercial code. The results of experimental measurements as well as numerical simulations are shown. Furthermore, differences between experimental and numerical results are discussed. According to the results, the pressure loss model in the form of a smart and effective procedure for calculating the valve assembly pressure losses and choosing an optimal valve sizes has been created.\n

Structure and selforganization of aggregates of photosynthetic molecules
Sláma, Vladislav ; Mančal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Duffy, Christopher (referee) ; Veis, Libor (referee)
In this work we demonstrate how quantum chemistry (QC) methods and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations can be used in combination with Frenkel exciton model (FEM) to obtain optical and excitation energy transfer properties of complex molecular systems from the molecular structure. The combination of QC and MD methods with FEM provides a powerful tool to study and explain molecular level processes, which are out of reach of the standard FEM parametrization. We use these methods to study and explain molecular mechanism of excitation energy transfer in rylene dyads, especially to explain observed fast excitation energy transfer in dyad with orthogonal arrangement of transition dipoles, where standard approach predicts no excitation energy transfer. On a fundamental level, we relate FEM to configuration interaction method of QC and propose extension of FEM, which accounts for interaction between excitonic manifolds. We investigate effects of this interaction on the optical properties. Inspired by the core features of FEM, we propose new concept of artificial light harvesting antenna based on fluorographene, with design principles inspired by natural light harvesting complexes. We use structure based methods to investigate its excitation transfer properties. We also introduce a new general method for treating...
