Sparta and Slavie between Wolrd Wars

Title: Sparta and Slavia in the interwar period Objectives: The aims of this work are the analysis of the history of Sparta and Slavia in the interwar period, the comparison of both clubs in individual aspects, the consolidation of published into logical cathegories and the discovery of new information and interesting facts about the topic. Methods: In this work I used historical methods. It is primarily a direct method, and then also progressive and biographical and statistical methods. Archival sources and contemporary literature were researched using these methods. Results: I managed to compare the sports side of both clubs in the interwar period and the impact of the clubs on the national team. I also mapped the development of the stadiums and the fan base. I also described the topic of professionalism. In all areas I complied the published literature, which I supplemented with additional information obtained from the study of archival sources. Contributions to the live and work of German-Bohemian artist Karl Krattner(1862-1926)

My work is mostly considering profesor Karl Krattner, who was one of the most brisk figures of the czech-german culture life at the end of 19. and the beginnig of 20. century. As a profesor at the Academy of arts he significanty contributed to the culture events in Prague and also became an important representative ofthe monumental religious painters. Profesor Krattner was a member of many art clubs such as Moderní galerie, certainly the most important one, Metznerbund, Club of the german artists in Bohemia and many others. There were many art clubs existing in Bohemia and Prague in that time and I focus on them in one of the chapters and the last chapter describes the situaton in the north of Bohemia where The Metznerbund became an important art club. The whole work is written as a historical excursion into the cultural world of the end of 19. and the beginning of 20. century.

Jiří Kotalík and the United States of America

The main focus of this diploma thesis is Jiří Kotalík, his relationship with the United States of America and projects in which he participated as the director of the National Gallery in Prague. To understand projects, it was necessary to clarify the broader circumstances, especially the relationship of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic to the United States of America and the cultural policy of both states. Therefore, the time frame was extended, both in the historical introduction and the first exhibition of American art in Czechoslovakia in 1947. It was also necessary to put into context the purpose for which large traveling exhibitions and other US cultural projects were organized and what reception they caused in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. The six largest exhibitions of American art, which took place in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in the years 1967-1990, were selected as a sample. In the end, other forms of cooperation of the National Gallery, respectively Jiří Kotalík with American institutions were indicated but also other forms of promotion of Czechoslovak art in the United States of America were indicated. Three (four) generations of sculpture family Kitzinger

Kryštof Loub, Tři (čtyři) generace sochařské rodiny Kitzingerů (diplomová práce), ÚDU FF UK Abstract This MA thesis aims to investigate and verify the current resources and literature about the Kitzinger family of sculptors, who created art in Litoměřice, Milešov, Prague, and Osek for three (even four) generations. Following the first chapter, which aims to critically evaluate the existing research about the family, comes a chapter entirely devoted to archival sources which reference the Kitzinger family. Through these archival sources, including not only contracts for specific works of art and the like, but also registry entries and others, I intend to present the family in their wider socio-cultural context. The greater part of the work is in the chapter focused on the so-called Milešov sculpture workshop (sometime before 1672-1688), founded by Abrahám Kitzinger, of the first generation of sculptors. This text describes and examines individual sculpture commissions conntected to the Kitzingers in northern Bohemia. Two more detailed chapters then focus on the sculpture commissions of Abrahám Felix Kitzinger, representing the middle generation in Prague (1691-1695/6) and then Osek (1696- sometime after 1701). The painter's life in Prague in the 17th and 18th centuries Tomáš Sekyrka For more than a century, the life stories of Prague-based painters in the Baroque era (which I define as 1620-1780 for the purposes of this work) have been a focus of research by art historians and other specialists. Research in this area was based to varying degrees on an analysis and interpretation of artworks and data offered by a multitude of written documents, primarily drawing information from the registers of Prague parishes (providing major dates in painters' lives), various official records of municipal authorities (corroborating, among other facts, the circumstances of painters' admission to the estates of Prague burghers or facts on property title, particularly ownership of houses), a wealth of accounting materials (about the relationship between those commissioning the artworks and the artists themselves, in particular the client's requirements and deadlines and artist's compensation). Nor did researchers neglect the unique manuscripts of the Prague painters' guilds (one in each of Prague's three towns), which provide membership lists and meeting minutes. Guild Book of the Painters of Prague since 1490

This bachelor thesis is dealing with second guild book of painters of Prague, which was created between 1490 and 1582. It updates the older edition written by doctor Chytil and adds new findings with special regard to characterization and analysis of the source. The first part generally mentions development of crafts and guilds in Czech municipality. Next chapter is dealing with the issue of painter`s guild in Old Town, its membership and organization from its origin to beginning of 17th century, in which the group underwent significant changes. Then follows analysis of the book, its external and internal features, that stresses above all palaeography and book`s structure. This part also contains the focal point of the whole thesis. In the last chapter lies the edition of guild`s book, which was made according to modern principles and was supplied with footnotes and name and location index.
