BAKALÁŘSKÉ PRÁCE Jméno, příjmení: Anna Kristina Fürstenzellerová Vedoucí práce: Mgr. Bc. Jitka Sýkorová Title: The Use of Craft and Creative Arts in Occupational Therapy Abstract: The bachelor thesis addresses the topic of Arts and Crafts in occupational therapy. Arts and Craft are linked with the profession from its beginnings. Craft activities were one of the first meaningful occupations the occupational therapists ever used in their work. These activities were also the first occupations expertly analyzed by occupational therapists. As the society evolved, the role of arts and crafts in occupational therapy changed. Today, the use of Arts and Crafts in therapy is a controversial topic that divides occupational therapists. Some see Arts and Crafts only as a historical part of the profession, outdated and anachronistic, and refuse to use them in their work. Others feel their potential and try to find ways of purposefully including them in their patients' rehabilitation plans. The bachelor thesis presents a view of Arts and Crafts as a therapeutic tool. It charts the inclusion of these activities in the history of the profession and describes the current situation. It also identifies the problems that occupational therapists face when including these activities in their therapy. The aim of the study...

This bachelor thesis deals with a translation of the manual for the evaluation tool "The Chedoke Arm and Hand Activity Inventory (CAHAI)". Creating a translation draft of the CAHAI manual is this work's main goal. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge about cerebrovascular accident (CVA), and its consequences. Next, the theoretical part deals with a function of the upper limb and the testing of the upper limb in occupational therapy. A part is also dedicated to a summary of the evaluation manual of the CAHAI. The process of translating technical and academical texts is also discussed. In the practical part, the author describes the realization and the method of translating. The secondary goal of this work is to perform a pilot study with 3 patients after cerebrovascular accident using the Czech translation of CAHAI-13. For that reason, the practical part also contains case studies. The thesis contains case studies with a diagnostical part i.e., case studies do not have a plan and process of therapies. The result of this thesis is the Czech translation of the CAHAI and an evaluation of CAHAI's usage in research. Keywords: cerebrovascular accident, function of the upper limb, testing of the upper limb in occupational therapy, translation method, The Chedoke Arm and Hand Activity Inventory

The bachelor thesis explores balance and cognitive disorders in the context of physiotherapy. Balance disorders and cognitive impairment are important risk factors for falls. The aim of the thesis is to provide fundamental information based on available evidence in literature and briefly outline the importance of physiotherapy in patients with balance and cognitive impairment. In the practical part of the thesis is presented a detailed case study of a physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient with balance disorder and cognitive impairment due to encephalopathy. The treatment focused on application of techniques which are beneficial for improvement of the balance as well as cognitive functions. At the end of the therapeutic intervention patient have improved stand and gait balance as well as coordination of motion and cognitive performance and also there was a significant reduction of fatigue and fall risk. We used standardized assessments methods to measure the effect of the treatment: The Tinetti Balance and Gait Test, Berg Balance Scale, Montreal Cognitive Assessment and Barthel Index for Activities of Daily Living.
Problematic Areas in the Everyday Life of Patients with Huntington's Disease. Subtitle: A Suggestion of Compensatory Strategies in Coping with Cognitive Impairment
Sýkorová, Jitka ; Zemánková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Sládková, Petra (referee)
This diploma thesis explores problematic areas of patients with Huntington's disease in their performance during activities of daily living (ADLs) from the perspective of patients and their caregivers. The aim of the research was also to assess a possible correlation between cognitive impairment and the patient's performance in ADL. Twenty-five patients with their caregivers met the selection criteria for the research. There were used standardized assessment methods available in Czech: the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) and the questionnaire for caregivers called Bristol Activities of Daily Living Scale (BADLS-CZ). The statistical analyses consisted of methods of the nonparametric statistics, qualitative analysis was processed by data categorizing. Caregivers reported more problematic areas in ADLs which was significantly confirmed in the statistical hypothesis testing (p <0,05). A significant correlation was seen between the results of the questionnaire and the results of the MoCA assessment (rSp = -0,620; p <0,05). For various reasons, patients with Huntington's disease did not mention as many problematic areas in performing ADL as their caregivers. Therefore, it is appropriate in clinical practice to supplement the assessment of the patient's...
