Svárovská, Eliška ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Bittnerová, Dana (referee)
My thesis is in the field of social and cultural ecology, which examines the relationship between nature and society. I focus on mediating this relationship through research on selected nature trails found in the Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area. In the theoretical part, I describe the protection of nature and landscape, then I focus on the Jizera Mountains where the research took place. I mention the three-phase learning model related to the trails, as they are meant to educate us, and I also discuss interpretation. Finally, I describe the phenomenon of nature trails in general. In the empirical part, I mention a subchapter on mobile QR code technology and present the application Stepping Off the Trail for visitors of the nature trails. In the following subchapters, I focus on evaluating the nature trails using a methodology I have devised. I evaluate both verbal and non-verbal elements, focusing particularly on a comprehensive evaluation that includes an overview of interpretive panels and the thematic integration into the environment. I also examine how the nature trails present the concepts of nature and its protection as a whole, related to the learning model, and I include the five principles of proper interpretation set forth in the Methodology of Principles and Methods of...
Building Act: public interest or public conflict? The process of creation of the Building Act from the perspective of key stakeholders with focus on care for public interests
Voldřichová, Magdaléna ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Špecián, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the process of preparation of the new Building Act, with regard to negotiation and balancing of public interests, specifically on the protection of nature, landscape, environment and cultural values. The thesis examines both the legislative process of adopting a law and the representation of the specified public interests in it. At the same time, the thesis reflects the outcome of the procedure, respectively whether and how the protection of the above-mentioned public interests will be treated in Act No. 283/2021 Sb. The research is conceived as an explanatory case study aiming not only to understand the phenomenon, but also to thematize the relationships of the involved stakeholders. The key sources of data for the research were written materials and expert interviews. The main finding is that the legislative procedure was legal and in accordance with procedural requirements, despite not fully standard. The legislation is also legitimate, adopted by legitimate political representation with eligible expert backing, and there are mechanisms for the protection of the selected public interests included. Key words: building act, legislation, legislative process, public interests, conflict of interests, decision-making process

Main topic of this thesis is the process of converting the most valuable parts of PLA Křivoklátsko into a national park. The thesis covers the timeline since the start of this debate up to end of 2022 and includes all the conflicts, which transpired during that time. I'll try to identify the exact reasons why the idea wasn't yet realized, including the points of view of all interested parties. This thesis comprises of two parts, denoted as a "theoretical" and "empirical". Because the case study is focused on the expert discussion in the field of nature protection, the theoretical section of this thesis deals with defining and explaining the terms that are relevant for this research, specifically in the areas of sustainability, sustainable area development, nature and its parts, the differences in approach to protection of nature, and the significance of protected areas with regards for the benefits they provide for nature and society. The empirical part of this thesis contains independent research. I used the case study method for the purpose of this thesis, which is suitable for this type of research. All collected data were subjected to Frameanalysis. First, I explore the evolution of the problem since the conception of the idea about instituting the national park Křivoklátsko, up to a present...

Artificial intelligence in the light of social science
Paukertová, Dominika ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Novák, Aleš (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of artificial intelligence, which is viewed through the lens of social science. Specifically, it seeks to answer the question of whether social science has been able to anticipate the future in the case of artificial intelligence. In order to answer this question, a combination of the methods of symptomatic reading and hermeneutics is used in the following paper. These consist of reading the selected literature in order to find deeper meanings that may have seemed hidden at first glance. For the analysis I have chosen Ulrich Beck, Anthony Giddens and Niklas Luhmann as representatives of the social sciences, as each of them deals with the relationship between society and nature and thus their holistic worldview can be assumed to includes the topic of artificial intelligence. The thesis first deals with artificial intelligence itself, its development, types and threats. It concludes the first part by defining three selected areas of current risks, namely: the ambiguity of what AI actually is and is not and people's unclear ideas about it, the possibility of text and image manipulation, and finally the problem of outdated data and biased code. Before the analysis itself, I briefly introduce a few concepts from the social science literature for better...
Knowledge and attitudes of secondary school pupils on global climate change
Lacinová, Ludmila ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (referee)
These days, the global climate change is not only a very frequently discussed topic, but above all a threat to the entire planet. In 2009 Johan Rockström published the concept of the nine planetary boundaries that humans ought not to breach if they wish to preserve a safe space for human activities and avoid dangers of global significance. Nevertheless, three of these boundaries have already been breached and are currently in a critical state. The climate change is one of them and its breach is very serious. That is why this master's thesis is dealing with this important issue, which needs to be tackled on the global as well as the individual level since everyone's contribution, though small on the global scale, is necessary and it is vital that all take part in solving this global problem. The thesis is therefore focusing more specifically on the individual level, namely, the knowledge and the attitudes of high school students as regards the global climate change. The master's thesis is divided into four parts - the theoretical, the methodological, the empirical, and the discussion part. The crucial part of this master's thesis is the empirical part, which includes quantitative research in the form of a questionnaire survey among the pupils at selected secondary schools with different...

The last section of the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on development projects to be realized in the vicinity of the park and marginally it also deals with strategic materials. The aim of this thesis is an attempt at a comprehensive description of the Parukářka phenomenon and an exploration of this public space as an actual place, as well as a construct of meanings and values attributed to it by its users/actors. The empirical part of the thesis seeks to answer the research question of the significance of this relatively preserved natural area in urban space, both in general from different points of view and from the perspectives of its contemporary users/actors. For this reason, the qualitative research...

Müllerová, Eva ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Lehečka, Michal (referee)
The Master thesis' central theme is the phenomenon of Overtourism. It compares its status in three large-size specially protected areas: The Krkonoše Mountains National Park, Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area and Třeboň Basin Protected Landscape Area. Based on interviews with representatives of the protected areas administrations and with tourists, the thesis aims to describe and analyze central conflicts of a nature- based active lifestyle and nature protection, as well as to identify the impacts of increasing tourism on the fragile ecosystems of the protected areas. Increased attention is given to the differences between pre-pandemic and pandemic situation. The empirical research combines several methods: semi-structured interviews with both sides of the conflict, participant observation in the field and the analysis of materials such as relevant legislation and regulations of tourism. This thesis hopes to contribute to the state of knowledge by its thorough description of the issue in the three analyzed areas; and by creating a typology of tourists coming to the protected areas which could be applied in future tourism management. Based on its conclusions, the thesis also drafts measures for future tourism management of given areas designed to mitigate the conflict situation.
