The past and present of Liberec choirs Cum decore and Cum amore
Procházková, Eliška ; Bělohlávková, Petra (advisor) ; Pecháček, Stanislav (referee)
This bachelor thesis concerns two related Liberec choirs: Cum decore and Cum amore, also known as Potěr (Spawn). This paper offers insight into their history from 1991, when the original choir was established, up to April 2023. The aim of this thesis is to gather all relevant pieces of information spread across many sources into one document. These pieces of information are to be classified systematically with regard to their chronological order and their topic. The outdated data are to be updated. The period of existence of the choir or choir departments is divided into four main stages of development. The first stage refers to the period when there was the original choir which had been led by Ludvík Lukuvka. The second stage describes the first six years after Čeněk Svoboda became the main choirmaster. The third stage corresponds to the school year 2007/2008 as it is when the choir was divided into its two departments: Cum decore and Cum amore or Potěr. The fourth stage lasts from then up to the school year 2022/2023 and each of these two departments is described in its own section. Every stage contains information on the number of the members, repertoire, projects, uniforms and support specialists of the choir or.choir departments. The main and the secondary choirmasters are introduced...
Folk songs from Študlov and their use in school and extracurricular music education
Hrnčiříková, Marie ; Pecháček, Stanislav (advisor) ; Nedělka, Michal (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to collect and analyse folk songs from Studlov and to propose their use in school and after-school music education. Thanks to the collectors and their musical notations, it is possible to analyse individual songs and thus look for connections in the folk music of this Wallachian village. Through these sources, I have created a songbook of Studlov folk songs for the purposes of music education and the preservation of traditions. In order to be able to extract as much information as possible from the multitude of songs for their analysis, I have divided them into several groups according to their content. The categorization helped to further research and clarified the weight of folk song in certain areas of the lives of the original tradition bearers. Finally, I have adapted a few selected songs, especially for the purpose of after-school music education. The aim of the arrangements is to engage listeners who do not prefer folk music with this genre. Another product of this research is a methodological material in which I have processed Wallachian customs in such a way that they can be used in music education lessons at primary school. By confirming the hypothesis about the peculiar musicality of the inhabitants of the area, deduced from the character of folk songs, we can...
The cantata and oratorio works of Jan Hanuš: musical-historical context and pedagogical use
Novotný, Vít ; Pecháček, Stanislav (advisor) ; Aschenbrenner, Vít (referee) ; Valášek, Marek (referee)
The thesis consciously builds on previous literature devoted to the life and work of Jan Hanuš, a significant 20th-century Czech composer. It focuses on his cantata and oratorio works, which form a distinctive part of the author's legacy. The thesis aims not only to study the defined area of interest from due theoretical perspectives, but also to intervene in relevant related practical fields: the field of artistic interpretation and the field of music pedagogy. The first, theoretically focused goal is to map the entire defined area of Hanuš's output in the context of musical and social development during the 20th century, in the context of related music by other Czech composers, and in the context of Hanuš's personal compositional development. The second goal is to bring one of the selected works, Poselství: svědectví o smrti Jana Palacha (The Legacy: A Testimony on the Death of Jan Palach) from 1969, to a world premiere in the symbolic and social context that the work deserves. The third goal is to create didactic material that uses the specifics of the studied area of Hanuš's work to bring the musical language of contemporary artificial music closer to today's students of general music education. All these three sub-goals combine into a more general objective that reaches beyond the scope of...
The past and present of Liberec choirs Cum decore and Cum amore
Procházková, Eliška ; Bělohlávková, Petra (advisor) ; Pecháček, Stanislav (referee)
This bachelor thesis covers two related Liberec choirs: Cum decore and Cum amore (inicially called as Potěr) and their history (from 1991, when established, up to this day). The aim of this paper is to gather all relevant pieces of information spread across many sources, classify them systematically (with regard to their chronological order and their topic) and update the outdated data. The existence of the choir(s) is devided into 4 main stages of development. The first stage refers to the period when the (original) choir was led by Ludvík Lukuvka. The second stage describes the first 6 years after Čeněk Svoboda became the main choirmaster. The third stage corresponds to the school year 2007/2008 as it is when the choir separated into 2 departments. And lastly, the fourth stage lasts from then up to this day and each of these two departments is described in its own section. Each of these stages offers a description of the conditions, under which the choir (or choir departments) worked for that period of time - such as how the numbers of the choir members changed, what their repertoir consisted of, what projects they involved in (the projects are sorted into smaller groups based on their similarities), what their dress-code looked like and which people had a supportive role there at that time....
Reverend Father Karel Bříza - friar, liturgical music composer, organist, organ builder and teacher
Náměstek, Vít ; Pecháček, Stanislav (advisor) ; Nedělka, Michal (referee) ; Brož, Jaroslav (referee)
This dissertation presents a complex look at the life and creative legacy of an eminent personality of sacred and liturgical music living in the second half of the 20th century, Rev. Father Karel Bříza (1926 - 2001). His name has become known especially in the field of post- conciliar liturgical music thanks to his composition of the nationally widespread and timeless Czech Mass Ordinary - a piece that is imprinted on the minds of believers as an inseparable part of the Catholic liturgy throughout the Czech lands. Apart from this Ordinary, however, Karel Bříza authored many other musical works, ranging from shorter hymns to extensive collections of the so-called Czech Masses. Each of the more than seventy pieces is analyzed in this dissertation, with a brief discussion of the main musical characteristics and distinctive elements of the particular piece. A catalogue of Bříza's musical works is included as an appendix. The present work also provides a complete and systematic overview of organ-type instruments single-handedly built by Bříza, including images and descriptions of the current state of each individual organ masterpiece still in existence. As part of the portrait of Bříza's life, obtained largely from authentic accounts of living relatives and associates, as well as from personal...
