Mortality for Certain infectious and parasitic diseases in the Czech Republic
Nguyen, Thuy An ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
This work deals with a group of diseases and causes of deaths called Certain Infectious and parasitic diseases, defined by International Classification of Diseases. These diseases are not the most common causes of death in the Czech Republic. It would seem infectious diseases are now under control. However, in recent years the number of deaths has grown and there are new threats that should not be underestimated. Therefore the work includes a chapter on current topics (antibiotic resistance, bioterrorism, emerging diseases). Part of this work also deals with the theoretical aspects of the emergence and spread of diseases, vaccination as an effective weapon against infection. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe the basic trend of mortality in the years 1994-2011 in the Czech Republic, where the number of deaths from Certain infectious and parasitic diseases has increased. The work showed mortality increased mainly in older age groups. It was also found that the bacterial diseases (especially other Septicaemia) are behind this increase. At the end effect of the revision of International Classification of Diseases and changes in coding practice on mortality for infectious diseases were discussed.
