Number of working persons with higher educational attainments substantially up in all regions

In the course of twenty years, the number of workers in regions of the CR with tertiary education grew rapidly. At the same time, the number of workers with basic education and practically all regions decreased significantly, as did the number of workers with secondary education without maturity. However, the structure of employment by the level of formal education completed differs significantly from one point of view.

Rapid growth in women's education

In the Czech Republic, the level of formal education is growing rapidly. In the age group aged 25-64 over the last ten years the population stagnated, but the number of people with tertiary education has increased by more than half a million. The number has fallen sharply persons of this age category with basic education and especially with secondary education without Maturity (taught). This is reflected in the current supply and demand situation in a number of professions

High employment keeps increasing numbers of older workers

The total number of workers is influenced by the exceptional increase in the number of employees aged 60-64. Since 1995, their number has increased by 154 thousand. To nearly a quarter of a million in 2015. Recently, the number of workers aged 65+ has grown, reaching 108,000 in the past year. And this trend continues this year.

The number of hours worked in the Czech Republic is one of the highest Throughout the EU

The usual weekly working time in the main job reached 40.4 hours last year. It differs, in particular, from the position of respondents in employment and the type of activity being performed. The Czech Republic ranks fifth in the number of hours worked across the EU.

Prague Measured to Have the Lowest Long-Term Unemployment Rate of All Regions in the EU28

The recent growth of the Czech Republic economy has brought beneficial effects on the development of the long-term unemployment rate. In 2014 the share of the unemployed for over one year in the total labour force attained 2.7%, i.e. by 0.3 p. p. less than in 2013. Differences among regions of the Czech Republic have still remained high. In the EU28, however, the long-term unemployment rate in respective NUTS 2 areas is completely different.

Share of the Self -Employed in Total Employment in the Czech Republic is One of the Highest in the EU28

Total employment in the Czech Republic is affected by the self-employed in a significant manner. The percentage of the self-employed, i.e. employers and own-account workers is fifth highest in among all EU Member States. There are higher shares in Greece, Italy, Romania, and in Poland, only.
