Perception training in tennis
Mrázová, Kristina ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Malý, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Perception training in tennis Objectives: The main goal of this paper is to assess the impact of perceptual-cognitive training on the development of anticipatory skills in expert and novice tennis players. Methods: The result of this paper was obtained using an experiment based on the test-retest method. It is a randomized controlled trial in which the intervention groups underwent three weeks of perceptual-cognitive training in addition to the test and retest process. All parts of the experiment (test, perceptual training, retest) were based on watching edited video recordings of tennis serves using the temporal occlusion technique. The tracked variable in the experiment was the relative accuracy of responses. Results: In the intervention group of expert tennis players, a significant difference was reported between test and retest performance (p < 0.01; d = 1.05). No statistical significance was observed in the intervention group of tennis novices or in any of the control groups. Since the intervention and control groups of expert tennis players did not differ in the test stage, the observed increase in performance was attributed to the effect of applied perceptual-cognitive training. The statistically significant increase in relative accuracy of responses between test and retest occurred...
The analysis of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the pre-match warm-up at the elite football teams.
Novotný, Petr ; Malý, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kaplan, Aleš (referee)
Title: Analysis of Qualitative and Quantitative Characteristics of Pre-match Warm- up in Elite Football Teams. Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis was to analyze pre-match warm-ups in elite football teams from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. Methods: The research sample consisted of top European football teams, namely Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Manchester City. Data was collected and retrospectively evaluated through video analysis. A total of four pre-match warm-ups were recorded during UEFA Champions League matches. The individual recordings were processed and categorized based on predetermined evaluation criteria. The selected categories were activation exercises, preparatory exercises, game-related exercises, small-sided games, and speed exercises. Evaluation criteria were established for each category, including total exercise time, number of exercises, and average number of repetitions per player. The criteria were compared among the different football teams. Results: The obtained results revealed both common qualitative and quantitative characteristics. Activation exercises emerged as the most numerous and complex category. Based on the recorded durations of the warm-ups, it was evident that the most time was devoted to this category compared to...
The level and differences of selected movement abilities in youth football players U11 age category
Mastný, Vojtěch ; Malý, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Level and difference of selected movement abilities in youth football players U11 age category Objectives: The aim of this work is to find out level and difference of specific movement abilities, movement skills and motoric docility of young football players category U11. Methods: Research group, which consisted 23 players category U11 of football FC Tempo Praha club, completed one-time testing. This testing contained in total 5 testing batteries including seven tests altogether. Those tests evaluated batteries of motor docility (IOWA-BRACE test), 3 tests of physical abilities (reaction time, 5m and 10m acceleration, vertical jump) and modified Illinois test evaluating agility speed and motoric skills level, which was added to this test. Results: Not only that results differences across individuals, but also across both groups of various performance levels. The most significant average result differences are in tests of acceleration, where 5m flying test difference is 0,16s and 10m test difference is 0,21s. Other differential is in reaction time test, where difference is 0,15s and in Illinois agility- skill test, where difference in performance with ball is 1,55s. Lower performance level group displayed smaller difference in other tests, whereas the group reached better results in motor...

Zone defence scenarios
Kohoutek, Rostislav ; Buzek, Mario (advisor) ; Malý, Tomáš (referee)
- 3 - Abstract: Title (Theme works): Zone defence scenarios Student: Kohoutek Rostislav Supervisor: PhDr. Mario Buzek, CSc. Aim: On the base of the analysis of scored goals in UEFA Champions league 2008/2009, specify certain defence scenarios. These defence scenarios will be detailed described and analysed. The reached knowledge will be applied into training process. Methods: Project research was executed by the indirect observation method: watching football videos. The qualitative and quantitative analyses were used. The study is composed by all scored goals in UEFA Champions league during the 2008/2009 season, when the European Football Federation UEFA DVDs materials were used. Results: As the result several certain defence scenarios, occurred in UEFA Champions league 2008/2009, were specified. On the base of the survey of all scored goals, the defence demanding situations were analysed. The established defence scenarios were detailed described and used in training process on adequate competitive level. Key words: Defence demanding scenarios, received goal, pressing, qualitative and quantitative analyses, UEFA Champions League,
Effect of climbing ability on energy expenditure of climbing
Kodejška, Jan ; Baláš, Jiří (advisor) ; Malý, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of the study was to evaluate the relation between climbing performance and energy demands while climbing through a specific submaximal test. The sample consisted of twenty-six climbers (age 26,8 ± 3,3 years, weight 70,6 ± 6,2 kg, height 177,6 ± 6,5 cm). Climbers were deliberately chosen so that their performance covers as much scale difficulty of UIAA (Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme) as possible. The performance was given by the climbers currently the highest ascent in the style of RP (Red Point). Performance of these climbers ranged between 4 to 10 degrees UIAA. Climbers were subjected to submaximal climbing test, which lasted three minutes in one slope. They moved at a constant speed of 25 movements. min-1 on climbing route, already known in advance, the slope after 3 minutes changed from 90 ř to 105 ř. VO2 (oxygen consumption), SF (heart rate) and VE (minute ventilation) significantly correlated with climbing performance of RP (90ř, VO2, r = - 0,82; SF, r = -0,66, VE, r = - 0,77; 105ř, VO2, r = - 0,84; SF, r = -0,78; VE, r = - 0,80 ). Respiratory rate during submaximal climb was about 25 breaths. min-1, which refers to a link with a climbing speed. VO2 during submaximal climbing can be used to evaluate the economy of movement. Keywords sport climbing, submaximal test,...
Strength of knee extensors and flexors as a determinant in performance of speed abilities in youth
Šípková, Petra ; Malý, Tomáš (advisor) ; Zahálka, František (referee)
Title: Strength of knee extensors and flexors as a determinant in performance of speed abilities in youth Objectives: To find out whetherthere is a correlation between the strength of the knee flexors and extensors and the performance in speed tests in a selected age group Methods: There was a laboratory and outdoor testing carried out with a group of 42 students. The results were processed in tables and graphs, the arithmetic mean and the standard deviation functions were used Results: The tests showed that the more powerful the knee flexors and extensors are the better the performance in speed tests is. The hypothesis proved right, there is a strong relation between the knee flexors and extensor strength and a speed performance. The flexors scored higher in the importance for a speed performance than the extensors Keywords: Speed, strength, testing, youth, performance
