Instrumental dynamic investigation methods in rehabilitation medicine
Jačisko, Jakub ; Kobesová, Alena (advisor) ; Hrazdíra, Luboš (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Introduction: The subject of this thesis were two dynamic diagnostic methods of the musculoskeletal system: dynamic ultrasound examination and instrumental objectification of postural functions (measurement of the pressure produced by abdominal). Methods and objectives: Based on literature review and consensus of international experts, the aim was to create comprehensive dynamic diagnostic protocols for joints that are currently not available in the literature. Another objective was to create research articles describing the most common interventions under ultrasound guidance and also original educational materials for beginners in musculoskeletal ultrasound. Another objective was to verify whether clinical tests of postural stability correlate with objectively measured pressure produced by abdominal wall in healthy subjects and then on subjects with low back pain. Another part of the study aimed to verify if there is a correlation between the pressure produced by abdominal wall and intrabdominal pressure measured by anorectal probe. The last part of the project compared the pressure produced by abdominal cavity in patients with low back pain before and after several weeks of physiotherapy. Results: Dynamic diagnostic protocols and educational materials in the form of video galleries were created....
Analysis of the occurrence of hallux valgus in 12-15 years old ice hockey players.
Helmich, Tomáš ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Reckziegelová, Petra (referee)
Title: Analysis of the occurrence of hallux valgus in ice hockey players aged 12-15 years Objectives: The main goal was to summarize the available facts about the occurrence of hallux valgus in hockey players and then quantitatively determine whether this diagnosis occurs more often in this group compared to the general population, already at the age of 12-15 years. Furthermore, the work tried to clarify the difference in occurrence between the individual posts of the group of hockey players. Methods: 102 probands between the ages of 12 and 15 participated in the research, who were divided into 2 groups. The first group consisted of 36 ice hockey players. The second group consisted of 66 elementary school students who do not actively play ice hockey. Only men were tested for gender differences in the incidence of hallux valgus in the population. Before the actual testing, specific anamnestic information was taken from the participants: age, dominance of the limb, in the case of hockey players, a game post was added for a more detailed investigation. Both groups were measured in a similar way, i.e. with a goniometer from the dorsal side. The angle in the metacarpophalangeal joint of the first finger was measured, on both lower limbs. The resulting data were recorded and processed using the software...

Müller, Michael ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Vláčilová, Ivana (referee)
Title: The influence of flossing band on range of motion of hip joint in grappling athletes Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to determine the effectiveness of the therapeutic method "tissue flossing" in increasing the range of motion of hip rotations among recreational level grappling athletes, and whether this effect persists after a 60-minute grappling training session or during daily activities. Methods: The experimental research involved 20 healthy participants engaged in recreational- level-grappling. All participants were men aged between 18-35 years. The research consisted of four sets of measurements conducted in two rounds, referred to as input and output measurements. In the first set, an input measurement was taken to establish the baseline range of motion for hip rotation in the right lower extremity, followed by an output measurement of the values for external and internal rotation in the hip joint after a 60-minute grappling session led by an expert coach. The second set included both input and output measurements taken before and after the 60-minute training session. However, specific exercises to enhance hip rotations were incorporated before the second input measurement. The third measurement followed the same procedure as the second set, with the addition of treating...

Brokešová, Justýna ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Title: Dynamic changes in central reactivity in the context of physiotherapeutic practice Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to obtain, elaborate and summarize current knowledge regarding the phenomenon of central sensitization from both Czech and for- eign literature. The main focus is on physiotherapeutic practice in the context of diagnos- tic and therapeutical methods and their application in clinical practice. Methods: This thesis is written in the form of literature review. All the studies were ob- tained from following scientific databases: PubMed, Web of Science and ScienceDirect. To accept a study into review, it had to be focused on either a diagnostic or therapeutic approach targeting central sensitization in chronic pain. From the databases mentioned above, 1032 different studies were obtained. After applying all the defined exclusion cri- teria, only 34 were left and included in the review. 21 of them were focused on evaluation methods, the topic of the rest 13 was therapeutic. Results: The most common diagnostic methods to evaluate central sensitization are CSI and QST. It was not possible to determine the optimal method due to differences between studies and heterogeneity in the central sensitivity syndrome as well. As for therapeutic approach, the most frequent was manual...

Title: Comparative study of high-power and low-power laser therapy in the treatment of tinnitus Objectives: To determine the efficacy of high-power and low-power laser therapy in reducing the loudness of chronic tinnitus and improving the quality of life in patients suffering from chronic tinnitus. Additionally, to compare the effects of both types of lasers. Methods: A total of 18 subjects were included in the experiment, who underwent an otorhinolaryngological, neurological, and kinesiological examination by a physiotherapist. The TSCHQ questionnaire was used to collect data, including the scaling of tinnitus loudness. Quality of life was assessed using the THI questionnaire. To determine the effect, data obtained from the questionnaires before and after intervention were compared. Descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests were used for statistical analysis. The homogeneity of groups was compared using the Mann-Whitney test, the Wilcoxon test was used to compare the effect of the laser within one group. The Chi-square test was used to evaluate qualitative data. The level of significance was set at 5 % (α = 0.05). Results: It was found that HILT had a statistically significant positive effect on reducing the intensity of chronic tinnitus, while LLLT did not. Therefore, high-power laser is...

Author: Bc. Jiří Klíma Title: Comparison of tinnitus treatment with selected therapeutic approaches Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effectiveness of selected therapeutic approaches in the treatment of subjective chronic tinnitus. These approaches are manual therapy, low-power laser therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. Another aim is to determine which of these approaches is the most effective. Last but not least aim is to summarize the current knowledge about tinnitus. Methods: The thesis is processed in the form of literature review. First, the current theoretical background is described, then the objectives of the thesis and research questions are set. Then the methodology is described and the results are presented and discussed. Last but not least, the limitations of this thesis and the studies are described. Results: In total, 13 studies were found that met the criteria. Based on these studies, it appears that both manual therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy lead to a significant reduction in tinnitus severity in some patients with subjective chronic tinnitus. The results of studies investigating the effect of low-power laser therapy have been inconsistent, but most have concluded that it is also effective in reducing the severity of tinnitus in patients with...
