The situation of Ukrainian women and children after Fleeing the war conflict and their adaptation in social and societal conditions in the Czech Republic
Snopová, Adéla ; Macková, Veronika (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
In 2022, an armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine began, known as the Russian invasion or the Russian-Ukrainian war. Russian aggression against Ukraine culminated in an attack on 24 February 2022, making the conflict the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II. Russia has sent its troops into Ukrainian territory under the pretext of protecting Russian citizens and Ukrainian pro-Russian separatists. This was the culmination of several weeks of high tension, when Russia carried out military exercises near the Ukrainian border and massed troops in the Crimea and Donbas regions. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky declared mobilisation immediately after Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian border. The European Union, the United States and other countries have condemned Russia's aggression and have provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Sanctions have been imposed on Russia. This conflict has caused global political tension and raised fears of a further deterioration in relations between Russia and the West. At the time of writing this thesis, it has been over a year since the Russian aggression on Ukraine. The war is still ongoing and, according to Ukrainian authorities, has already claimed tens of thousands of civilian casualties. The television documentary entitled:...

The subject of the qualitative analysis are semi- structured interviews with representatives of two Czech media houses. The research sample includes respondents from Seznam Zprávy and Seznam, and from E15 and Czech News Center. The interviewees included representatives of newsrooms as well as media and product management. The aim of the study was to find out to what extent they use personalised content recommendation tools, to outline the reasons why they have decided to take this step or are considering it. It turned out that within the studied online news media they are still using personalised content recommendation to a minimum, or they are testing or planning to introduce these tools to a greater extent. Personalised recommendation tools are more widely used on the homepage of Seznam. The subject of this thesis was also to identify ethical issues related to the introduction or use of personalised recommendation. The main areas, according to the respondents' statements, include issues of setting selection parameters, the ability to retain agenda setting by editors, automation and transparency.
Czechoslovak newsreels from the perspective of social transformation (1989-1990)
Černý, Ondřej ; Lokšík, Martin (advisor) ; Moravec, Václav (referee)
This thesis deals with the end of film news in Czechoslovakia, which was realized in the form of film weekly newsreels until 1990. In the first part I define film news from the theoretical and terminological point of view and try to describe its specifics. I then explain its birth and the production of newsreel films on our country's territory, from its beginnings before the First World War until the fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia and the establishment of democracy, which ended the continuous, state- subsidized and controlled production of regularly published weeklies. In the second, practical part, I use the method of qualitative content analysis to examine the form and thematic framework of the weekly newsreels produced in 1989, when a new concept of film reporting focused on the so-called magazines began to take effect, and in 1990, the year Czechoslovakia entered the democratic process. My aim is to find out what was the role of weekly newsreels as a means of socialist propaganda and a channel of social criticism in the first, revolutionary year and how they changed in the second, democratic year. Although they were no longer bound by ideology, the end of the state film monopoly brought an end to their financial support and power protection, which led to an early end of their...
