Check calculation of parts of the pressure vessel
Bukal, Oldřich ; Lošák, Pavel (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
Pressure vessels play irreplaceable role in different branches of industry. From the perspective of pressure vessel construction high reliability and safety are required. This bachelor thesis is focused on control calculation of the basic parts of a vessel according to the standard ČSN EN 13445-3 including FEM analysis followed by stress categorization.
Influence of thermal shocks on fatigue of pressure equipment components
Umlauf, Martin ; Vincour, Dušan (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis examines influence of thermal shock on fatigue of pressure equipment components. The paper relates to project of IMI CCI Brno, which is a leading manufacturer of valves for the energy and process industries. Analysis concerns the impact of thermal shock concentrating on high pressure part of the steam valve. And proposal for a new valve geometry that reduces machining operations and reduce financial costs of production. First part of the thesis presents a basic review of fatigue damage components concerning mechanical loading and thermal – mechanical loading. Second part of the study creates FEM model of the valve. FEM model simulate temperature field and stress during thermal shock. Influence of thermal shock to fatigue damage was computed on basis of stress tensor obtained from FEM simulation under Chapter 18 of the standard EN 13445-3. Existing valve geometry was verified and the new geometry was proposed that simplified and reduce financial costs of production.
Strength calculation of pipe junction
Dohnal, Milan ; Buzík, Jiří (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
The master thesis focuses on the strength calculation of piping with extra consideration given to the local effects of thermal loads. To be recognized as properly functioning, the piping is required to withstand the expected operating conditions in order to enable the continuous transport of the working fluid within the interconnected devices. It is imperative to take into consideration the variable thermal load in the area where the individual pipe branches connect into the main transmission piping. A major part of the thesis is concerned with the assessment of the expected workload influence on the most stressed parts of the system. The data are gathered by employing temperature and stress-strain analyses carried out in the ANSYS Mechanical program using the finite element method. The values based on the analyses are cross-checked with both the permitted values according to the ASME standard B31.3 Process piping and the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code stress categorization method. Since all the evaluated stresses are below their respective permissible values, the piping strength is concluded as satisfactory according to the standards.

Plucar, Tomáš ; Létal, Tomáš (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
is Diploma’s thesis is addressing the issues of technical drying, principles and types of technical drying, solar drying possible usefulness of sewage sludge in the Czech Republic, its availability during the season, the legislation related to the processing of sewage sludge and design of pilot scale solar dryer.
Stress calculation of heat exchanger
Chrást, Ondřej ; Létal, Tomáš (referee) ; Nekvasil, Richard (advisor)
The main content of the diploma thesis is the strength calculation of the heat exchanger according to ASME Code. The introduction is a summary of issues within the design of this equipments. In the practical part there are a strength calculation of the main parts of heat exchanger and the FEM analys with their evaluation. In the last part there is the calculation of cumulative damage.
Design of plastic pressure vessel
Rackovský, Daniel Milan ; Létal, Tomáš (referee) ; Pernica, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design of a pressure vessel made of plastic. The introductory part of the thesis contains the theoretical knowledge related to plastic materials. The next part consists of the selection of materials suitable for the design of the pressure vessel and a deeper analysis of their mechanical and other properties. The last part of the thesis deals with the calculation of the wall thickness of the plastic pressure vessel based on the theory of momentless diaphragm shells and the verification of the results using the finite element method, in Ansys Workbench 2022 R1. The analytical calculation is also compared with the calculation using the relationships given in ČSN EN 13445.
Comparison of approaches and capabilities for strength calculations of pressure vessels in Ansys Workbench software and SolidWorks Simulation by using FEM
Burian, Josef ; Létal, Tomáš (referee) ; Lošák, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with comparison of approaches for strength calculation of pressure vessels in ANSYS Workbench and SolidWorks Simulation. First chapter introduces methods for design of pressure vessels and its legislation. The following chapter gives basic information about both compared software witch were used for following analysis of pressure vessel. Results were compared according to ČSN EN 13 445 in the last chapter.

Design of a two-phase separator
Brančan, Peter ; Pernica, Marek (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
Design of a two-phase separator according to the model assignment for separation of natural gas and crude oil. Material selection and checkup for functionality on this process equipment. Emphasis is on selection of dimensions according to mathematical model of mixture sepation. Design is also considering safety of the vessel. Dimensions of separator are optimalized to the lowest possible price of a vessel, while maintaining functionality and required safety of a pressure vessel. Separator is designed according to the standart ČSN EN 13445. Iteretion programs in computational software MATLAB were created to make calculations easier. Programs were created for calculations of separator’s dimensions, nozzles and their reinforcing pads, checking calculations of the vessel and its nozzles and calculations of flanges.
Deformation and damage of tube bundle bends due to temperature
Michálková, Anežka ; Pernica, Marek (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with the problem of determining the thermal load of cross-flow tube bundle bends in steam superheater. Firstly, the theoretical basis of computational fluid dynamics and finite element method is introduced, and the possible methods of creep damage evaluation are presented as it was assumed that creep damage would be the most significant damage mechanism. The next part of this thesis describes simulations in ANSYS Fluent to determine values of heat transfer coefficients and ANSYS Mechanical to obtain temperature field and stresses. Based on the determined temperature field and stresses, a creep lifetime calculation according to ČSN EN 12952-4 is performed. Then creep design check for operating time 200 000 hours was carried out according to ČSN EN 13445-3. It was determined that in this case the tube bends are not the critical spot in comparison with the straight sections of tubes.
