The experience of school psychologists with the phenomenon of self-harm

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of self-harm. The theoretical part is divided into several thematic areas. The first of them concerns self-harm and all its requisites from the definition, defining the concept of self-harm within the thesis, classification, methods, etiology, risk factors related to self-harm, the purpose of self-harm, defining coping strategies to the connection between self-harm and addiction and the origins of self-harm itself. It also defines the developmental period of adolescence and the occurrence of risk behaviors associated with this period. This is followed by a chapter on the school and school climate, defining the school counseling center and all staff within the school counseling center and the various relationships of the school psychologist with the internal relational network of the school. There is also a chapter on prevention, where the types of prevention are characterized, the minimum prevention program is mentioned, and prevention itself is discussed in relation to self-harm and the SOSI program. The last chapter in the theoretical work is intervention, where an overview of psychotherapeutic approaches, the scope of the school psychologist and intervention, alternative self-harm techniques and mental health support are mentioned. Coping with demanding study responsibilities for conservatory students

This master's thesis deals with the demanding responsibilities of studying at a conservatoire and coping with them. The aim of the thesis is to research how students experience their studies, the stress and also how they cope with the stress itself. Conservatoire students are a very specific group of pupils. From an early age they publicly perform, they are being judged, compared and they develop a very unique individual relationship with their teachers. All these circumstances can lead to difficult situations in their life. The theoretical part of the thesis is therefore divided into 4 main chapters. In the first chapter there is a brief description of studying at a conservatoire with a focus on its technicalities. The second chapter examines stress amongst musicians, what causes it, how it emerges, and I also mention stress among young musicians and how it differs from stress experienced by professional musicians in this chapter. The next part brings the reader closer to specific challenging situations in the lives of conservatoire students and the last chapter describes coping strategies that can be used in the lives of musicians. The experience of kindergarten teachers with the integration of Ukrainian children

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá začleňováním dětí s odlišným mateřským jazykem, konkrétně ukrajinských dětí příchozích po vypuknutí válečného konfliktu na Ukrajině. V teoretické části, která má čtyři hlavní kapitoly nejprve vymezuji, koho považujeme za dítě s odlišným mateřským jazykem, proč je nazýváme právě tímto termínem a jak funguje jejich vzdělávání v českých mateřských školách. Dále v ní píši o socializaci dětí a o aktuálních zprávách o Ukrajincích v českých školách. Na to navazuji druhou a třetí kapitolou, ve které se zabývám státními institucemi a neziskovými organizacemi nabízející podporu v tématu začleňování dětí s odlišným jazykem. Poslední kapitola popisuje různé metody výuky a typy organizací výuky. V praktické části je prezentován výzkum, který byl proveden metodou dotazníkového šetření. Hlavním cílem mého výzkumu bylo zjistit, jaké jsou zkušenosti učitelek se začleňováním ukrajinských dětí. Z odpovědí víme, že i přes různé potíže jsou zkušenosti učitelů vesměs pozitivní a učitelky to berou především jako novou zkušenost v jejich praxi. Aspects of cooperation between school psychologists and the Authority for Social and Legal Protection of Children

The thesis deals with the aspects of cooperation between school psychologists and the Authority for Social and Legal Protection of Children (OSPOD). The theoretical part of the thesis describes the work content of both school psychologists and OSPOD workers and defines their mutual cooperation, including the legislative framework. At the same time, the theoretical part includes information on the common target group of both institutions, the child at risk. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on qualitative research. The research tool is a semi- structured interview. The informants were school psychologists (seven in total) and OSPOD staff (three in total). The main aim of the thesis is to explore the way in which the cooperation between school psychologists and OSPOD is conducted and to identify the critical points of contact between the two institutions. The research shows that there are several key factors which influence the frequency and level of satisfaction with the cooperation. One of these factors is the mutual trust between the institutions, and establishing this trust can be enhanced by personal communication between the representatives of the institutions, for example, through informal or formal meetings where competences and roles in the cooperation process are mutually defined, or...

Reading comprehension among pupils at third grafe of elementary schools

The present thesis deals with the issue of reading comprehension of pupils in the 3rd grade of elementary school taught by the Sfumato reading method. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part introduces the concepts of reading, some sub-skills for the development of reading comprehension. We also describe some reading methods used in Czech education, focusing more on the Sfumato reading method. The last chapter is devoted to a reflection on the influence of distance learning on the acquisition of reading by beginning readers. The practical section presents research whose primary aim was to describe the typical developmental level of reading 3rd grade students taught using the Sfumato reading method. The secondary aim was to compare the average performance of pupils of this method with the analytic-synthetic and genetic methods. The research sample consisted of 45 pupils of the 3rd grade of the Sfumato method from a total of 3 primary schools in the Czech Republic. The pupils were administered the PorTex diagnostic battery. The management of the adaptation course in high schools by the class teacher Palicová Petra 2022 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis deals with the issue of conducting adaptation courses at High schools. The main topic is the management of the courses by the class teachers themselves so that the course is beneficial for the collective, communication and the overall atmosphere of teaching. The adaptation course is seen here as one of the means by which school discipline can be aided and its appropriate form of management has a positive effect on teaching. In the practical part, the research is described, the aim of which was to analyse the process of designing and implementing an adaptation programme at High schools, with reference to the role of the class teacher. Quantitative research was chosen, the method of data collection was a questionnaire of own construction. Three hypotheses were formulated and chi-square was chosen to test them. The research population consisted of High school class teachers. The paper includes recommendations for the optimal approach of classroom teachers to the adaptation program at High scool.

Work self-efficacy among teacher students and teachers with a specific learning disability

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of self-esteem and self-efficacy among adults who suffer from a specific learning disability. The aim of the research was to find out how a specific learning disability affects the practice of teaching and work self-efficacy of teachers. Based on a research of studies that have been published, a semi-structured interview was prepared and conducted with university students of education and teachers with a specific learning disability. The Ohio Teacher Efficacy Scale (OSTES) questionnaire was also used as an additional method for measuring teachers' work self- efficacy. The results of the research revealed specific difficulties that the respondents faced during their studies at the university. In addition to the ways in which a specific learning disability can limit practice of teaching, the research findings also suggested the positive benefits of the disability. It was found that the respondents have a relatively high work self-efficacy. The research also described the various negative experiences related to the specific learning disability that the respondents encountered during their lifetime. Despite these experiences, the respondents expressed a positive general self-concept.
