Střelec, Jakub ; Kučera, Rudolf (advisor) ; Gjuričová, Adéla (referee) ; Zimmermann, Volker (referee)
The thesis deals with forensic psychiatry and violent crime in post-war Europe. It focuses on the changing perception of violent behaviour in psychiatric knowledge and its use in the assessments of violent crime in Czechoslovakia, West Germany, and the United Kingdom between 1945 and 1970. The thesis deals with privatisations of housing stock in the new federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1990 to 2008. Aim of this thesis is to outline the development of privatisation processes and to assess their impact on the development of the housing stock. The end of Czech-German coexistence in Liberec region
Misařová, Adéla ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kučera, Rudolf (referee)
Liberec played an important role in czech-german relations since 1918, when the province Deutsch Böhmen was created. Its importance grew even further during World War II as it became the capital of the Liberec sudeten and it was also highly known as the birthplace of Konrad Henlein. In the city, there lived an estimated 80% of the German population at the end of the war, and this fact influenced the course of both liberation and the subsequent expatriatrion actions. Liberation was not expected with enthusiasm at all, as was the case in inland cities. It was rather characterized by confusion, uncertainty and fear of the Soviet Army, which was getting revenge for Germans of war injustice. The liberation meant the end of nearly seven years of German oppression, however, it was not celebrated. Many Germans were leaving the city during the war, including a large part of the Nazi leadership. Conversely, three main groups of people were coming back to the city: the returnees came here from the war, people who moved after the occupation to inland and also people who had nothing to do here and just wanted to start a new life. The situation at the time was very confusing and literature often presents population and its ethnic composition differently. Considering the large number of German population, the...
Against Masaryk's Republic - Monarchism as an Ideology of Part of Czech Catholic Intelectuals in Mid-War Period
Rychtar, Jakub ; Kučera, Jan (advisor) ; Kučera, Rudolf (referee)
The thesis deals with political aspects of the situation of the Polish minority in the contemporary Republic of Lithuania. Basis and practice of the Lithuanian ethnic and language policy, relevant sociodemographic features of the Polish minority, and their interaction within the political system, as manifested by the patterns of Polish minority mobilization and representation in the political structures, are successively analyzed in mutual cohesion. A study of the political dimension of the Lithuanian Poles' and the Polish kin-state's interrelationship together with a brief comparison of their situation with kin minorities in Belarus and Ukraine contextualize the analysis. In spite of both comparatively very good endogenous resources and the formally non-discriminatory political practice of the Lithuanian state, the thesis documents Polish minority's underrepresentation within the political system, as caused by the political opportunity structures. Aggregation and articulation of Polish minority interests in contemporary Lithuania fully comply with conventional patterns in institutionalized democracies. However, the findings of the thesis contradict the presumption of eventual weakening of the Lithuanian-Polish ethnic cleavage within the political system, and, more to the contrary, point to proofs of actual...
