Usage of Open Source Software in Medium Sized Business
Jedličková, Marta ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with problems of open source software and its usage in middle sized organizations. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first of them describes the definition, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of usage of open source software. Second part presents actual offer on the market and description of individual products. The third part uses gained findings from the previous chapters to design application architecture consisting of programs with open source codes for particular conditions of specific company with, for purposes of this thesis, hidden corporate name under World Assistance. First of the main goals of this thesis is to analyze possibilities of implementation of open source software instead of commercial solutions. Next one is to chart the offers on the market with open source software appropriate for implementation in middle-size businesses in areas such are ERP, CRM or ECM. The third goal is detailed analysis of application architecture of the World Assistance Company and inspection of its strategic business processes. Last objective is to design application architecture with usage of open source software for particular conditions of chosen firm. These goals were achieved by studying many information resources, discussions with specialist about the given topic and further analysis of current conditions of particular company. The benefits of this thesis are especially the compact view on open source software and its possibilities of usage in a mid-sized company. Last but not the least contribution is the design of the application architecture for particular, quite complex, environment of World Assistance Company.
Small and medium-sized teams project management and supporting tools analysis
Demuth, Jan ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This thesis is concerned with an issue of small and medium-sized teams project management and supporting tools analysis. The primary objective is to explore and describe currently available tools intended for project management support. In line with today's trend of Web applications and their provisioning in SaaS (Software as a Service) model, main focus is given to opensource or freely available products operating through a Web interface. Analysis of these instruments provided an overview of functionality present in individual products, which is then used as a guideline for choosing appropriate project management supporting tools under defined conditions of small and medium-sized teams in commercial and academic environment, abilities of chosen products are then proved by simulating an exemplary project.
Comparison of online office applications
Chaloupecký, Martin ; Kučera, Jan (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
This thesis deals with the online office applications. Its objective is to provide an overview of available information about online office applications, define the criteria and approach to comparison of the online office applications, compare the selected online office applications, analyze the current state of the market for online office applications and make a research dealing with the use of office applications by end users. The first part of the thesis provides a theoretical basis, bringing the categories of office suites. This part is focused on the category of online office applications and the technology used to deliver them. Second part contains the necessary definition of evaluation criteria. Using these criteria word processor, spreadsheet, presentation creation tool, file manager and cooperation possibilities are compared. The thesis also includes research in the field of office applications. Overview of the market of desktop and online office applications is also part of this thesis. This thesis may be useful for individuals or organizations in choosing suitable office applications.

Determination of 129I in environmental samples by neutron activation analysis
Krausová, Ivana ; Kučera, Jan ; Světlík, Ivo
A new RNAA method with pre-activation separation has been developed for determination of 129I and the ratio 129I/127I in environmental samples. Iodine is separated from samples prior to irradiation by combustion in oxygen stream and trapping in LIOH/(NH4)SO3 solution. Post-irradiation radiochemical separation of iodine consists in CHCl3 extraction of elemental iodine and PdI2 precipitation. The procedure has been verified by analysis of a reference seaweed sample Fucus serratus, and its basic metrological parameters were determined. The methods has been applied to analysis of aerosol filter, moss, lichen, sediment and bovine thyroide samples collected in the vicinity of the Temelín nuclear power plant.
Recoveries of elements following fast decomposition of biological and other materials by alkaline-oxidative fusion
Kučera, Jan ; Krausová, Ivana
Recoveries of selected elements were studied for fast decomposition of biological and other materials using alkaline-oxidative fusion in a mixture of NaOH and Na2O2 at 850 to 900°C. The procedure yields total mineralization of samples within 2 to 3 minutes. It is therefore especially suitable in radiochemical activation analysis (RAA) for determination of elements forming short-lived radionuclides. Recoveries of the elements F, Si, S, Cl, Ti, V, Mn, Ge, As, Br, Mo, Ru, In, Sb, I, Re, Os, and U determined using radiotracers were in the range 95-100 %, while those for Se and Hg were significantly lower and highly variable.
Determination of lanthanides in agricultural crops by instrumental and radiochemical neutron activation analysis
Mizera, Jiří ; Kučera, Jan ; Řanda, Zdeněk ; Vávrová, M.
The lanthanide elements were measured in soils and agricultural crops collected in an area polluted by emissions from a phosphate fertilizer plant. Concentrations of lanthanides in the soil and crop samples were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). Selected crop samples were also analyzed using radiochemical neutron activation analysis (RNAA) based on alkaline-oxidative fusion of the irradiated samples followed by precipitation of REE oxalates. Elevated levels of lanthanides were found in some samples, especially in wheat chaff and parsley.
