Kazdová, Tereza ; Kratochvílová, Dana (advisor) ; Čermák, Petr (referee)
(English) Interactional Alignment and Structural Priming in Spanish This research paper investigates the two phenomena, interactional alignment and structural priming, in colloquial conversation in Spanish, applying the theoretical framework of cognitive linguistics. The first part serves as an introduction to cognitive linguistics, presenting some fundamental ideas of this theory and providing definitions of a few key terms, such as conceptualization, construal and intersubjectivity, which set the ground for the study of interactional alignment and structural priming. Next, some general human behavioural tendencies relative to imitation and interpersonal coordination are introduced to put verbal communication into a more holistic perspective. The theoretical part concludes with a detailed account of interactional alignment and structural priming. The practical part of this paper comprises an analysis of ten conversations extracted from Val.Es.Co, a corpus of colloquial Spanish. The analysis focuses on the repetition of lexical items and syntactic structures with the aim of demonstrating that interactional alignment and structural priming play a part in spontaneous conversation. Besides, the purpose of this study is to investigate how these phenomena add to the smoothness of a dialogue, promote...

Expressing Emotions in Spanish Internet-mediated Communication
Smetana, David ; Čičmanec, Róbert (advisor) ; Kratochvílová, Dana (referee)
This thesis explores the topic of emotional expression on social media in Spanish. Based on a corpus consisting of over 13.000 comments collected from El País journal's Facebook and Instagram profiles, it aims to analyze the principal tendencies utilized by users in order to express their emotions. There are two parts to this work, one theoretical and the other one practical. The theoretical part addresses emotional expression in face-to-face (F2F) communication as a whole and mentions the various options people have at their disposal. It then proceeds to describe internet language and characterize comments on social media as a form of communication. The following practical part consists of an analysis of the individual features of the language used in the corpus. The tendencies intend to compensate for the lack of many means of expressive communication in an F2F environment (prosody, kinesics, etc.). Amongst the principal features are non-standard orthography (capitalization, prolongation, etc.) and non-verbal signs (emoticons, emoji etc.), interjections and initialisms are also analyzed. The results show that there are no exact matches in F2F communication for the features used online, although some correspond to speech more than others. Internet language provides a new, alternative system of...

Kolář, Jan Tomáš ; Kratochvílová, Dana (advisor) ; Čermák, Petr (referee)
in English Forms of address in selected variations of Hispano-American Spanish Key words: voseo, tuteo, usted, address, verb subsystem, pronoun subsystem, dialectology, American Spanish The thesis deals with forms of address in Argentine, Chilean, and Colombian varieties of Spanish. It is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The first part characterizes Hispano-American Spanish in general terms, concentrating further on the dialectological situation of the chosen territorial areas. This dialectological part is related to theoretical knowledge in the field of pragmatics, where the focus is on issues of communication, address, and social deixis. The practical section that follows begins by characterizing the selected television programmes that became the corpus substrate for the linguistic analysis, while also considering the methodology based on which this analysis was approached. This is followed by a practical linguistic analysis consisting of partial verbal conclusions. These partial findings are then synthesized in the final conclusion of the thesis, where the author attempts to place them in the context provided by the theoretical section, considering the contrastive conception of sociolinguistics in the Czech environment.

Stiborová, Noemi Anna ; Smažíková, Adéla (advisor) ; Kratochvílová, Dana (referee)
This thesis deals with evaluative pragmatic markers in Spanish. It delimits them on the basis of literature from both Spanish and Czech ambient. Likewise, it defines the evaluative modal meaning. It concentrates primarily on the analysis of selected markers (afortunadamente, desafortunadamente, desgraciadamente, lamentablemente, por desgracia a por suerte) in the corpus InterCorp and it describes their translations to Czech. It characterizes the Czech respondents as emotional particles. Also, it summarizes clasifications of Spanish pragmatic markers and pays attention to evaluative adverbs of utterance in Spanish. Everything is based on the accessible relevant literature. Partly, the work focuses on the position of the markers in a sentence. It comes to a conclusion that the positive pragmatic markers por suerte and afortunadamente are mostly translated as naštěstí. The most frequent respondents of the other, semanticly negative markers, are bohužel and naneštěstí. Key words: Pragmatic markers, modal meaning evaluative, utterance, corpus, Spanish

Součková, Tereza ; Kratochvílová, Dana (advisor) ; Čermák, Petr (referee)
The present work deals with expressing concessivity in Spanish, both from the point of view of the meaning and from the point of view of the form. The aim of the research, by means of analysis of language corpora, is firstly to create a well-arranged list of the means of expressing concessivity in Spanish and compare them with respect to the frequency and the type of concessive meaning, and secondly to create a typology of Czech translations of investigated constructions. General conclusions are drawn from these observations.
Gerund in Spanish and its translation counterparts in Czech and Russian
Kavko, Marharyta ; Krinková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kratochvílová, Dana (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor's thesis was the analysis of the Spanish gerund and its translated analogues in Czech and Russian languages along with a comparative analysis of the translations. The main goal of the thesis is to discover which translation equivalents were chosen for the Czech and Russian languages, if they have any similarity and what kind of difference in the translation tradition appears. The main sources for the theoretical part were prominent Spanish, Czech and Russian grammatic and linguistic works. As the source of material for the contrastive analysis of the translation from Spanish to Czech was used the parallel Czech-Spanish corpus InterCorp. For the contrastive analysis of the translation from Spanish to Russian was used the method of manual excerpting from the officially published Russian translation. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
