The process of identification of segments of the pre-industrial landscape in the Czech Republic
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Kirchner, Karel ; Ondráček, Stanislav ; Zapletalová, Jana ; Batelková, Kateřina ; Krejčí, Tomáš ; Nováková, Eva
The identified segments of the pre-industrial landscape represent a valuable cultural heritage of the countryside. They represent the subject of landscape and landscape protection. They can become an attraction of tourism and a source of income for rural communities. The novelty of the methodology is based on the use of the latest• and at the same time the oldest reliable cartographic data to identify the landscape cultural heritage segments. The methodology presents the identification marks of the segments in the current landscape and of their verification based on historical maps. The results of the methodology should contribute to the evidence and to the maintenance of this less known cultural heritage.
Old cultural landscapes of Moravia
Kolejka, Jaromír
In the years 2016-2020, an inventory of landscape segments took place in the historical territory of Moravia, the appearance of which is currently similar to their image in the pre-industrial period on cadastral maps from the first half of the 19th century. When solving the project of the NAKI program of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, 1139 segments of the old pre-industrial landscape larger than 10 ha were included in the extensive database. About 10 other characteristics were found for each segment, which serve for geostatistical analysis and classification. The article outlines the concept, time classification and procedure of identification of the remains of the old pre-industrial cultural landscape using the current color orthophotomap and imperial prints of cadastral maps from the 1820s-1830s. The historical events that preceded the emergence of the pre-industrial landscape are described in detail. The causes that led to dramatic changes in the cultural landscape in the age of industrial society are also listed. The map documentation provides an overview of the nature of the available data on old landscapes and the location of their identified remains in the historical territory of Moravia.\n\n
Residual ancient landscape segments in Carpathians of Moravian-Slovak borderland
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Nováková, Eva ; Kirchner, Karel
The Moravian Carpathians border region is a large area located in the east of the Czech Republic. Historically, most of the time it was a peripheral border area between the Czech state and Hungary. The well-preserved segments of pre-industrial landscape were inventoried here. They have such arrangement of land use, which originated in the period before the main wave of the industrial revolution in the Czech lands (i.e. before 1850), and has been preserved until present. A total of 182 segments of pre-industrial landscape were identified. Spatial analysis of their location in the area shows that the highest concentration of segments is near the international border (50% up to 10 km from the border), in dissected highland relief (52%), but often in the foothills between 300-500 meters above sea level (51%). Due to their location and appearance, they can represent interesting geotourist objects in the border area.
Community area risk assessment for flash flood
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Rapant, P. ; Krejčí, Tomáš
The flash floods forecasting is struggling mainly with extraordinary irregularities in origin of causal precipitations. They only in conjunction with the territory water saturation caused by antecedent precipitations start effect of other local factors that can consequences of short-term extreme precipitation either worsen or mitigate vice versa. Other community area features represent a permanent potential for an adequate territory response after heavy rains. According to current knowledge, it is possible to assess the flash floods hazard of a particular territory in case of extreme precipitation in advance. If such precipitations are already on the ground, or if they are just coming up in the atmosphere, the local flood control headquarters has at least time enough to call alarm and issue a flood warning. In the ideal case, it is possible to incorporate such area assessment into the concept of decision-making of the disaster staff and to insert it into the master plan documentation. The aim of this text is to present above mentioned original method, which can be used in authomatic GIS environment by public administration as well as other users. Suggested procedure is based on automatic hydrologic modelling in ArcGIS platform in combination with advanced digital terrain model. Delimitation of partial catchment basins is also part of our proces, which enables to decide about the risk value of the area in more detail using weighted arithmetic mean. These methods result to detailed imagination about probably threatened localities - and it is essential tool for local authorities and their decision making process in case of early warning.
Pre-industrial landscapes of Moravian Slovakia
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Batelková, Kateřina
The areas in the landscape with the preserved secondary landscape structure originated before the mid-19th century can be seen as existing segments of the pre-industrial landscape (PreIL). Such area has retained a similar character of land use from the period before the main wave of the industrial revolution in the territory of the present Czech Republic. Comparative documents registering the secondary landscape structure of the old pre-industrial landscapes are represented by the maps of the II. military survey and in cadastral maps both from the first half of the 19th century. Current source of information on the pre-industrial landscape is represented by a recent colour orthophotomap. The region of the Moravian Slovakia, which was defined for research purposes, has only a relatively small number of pre-industrial landscape segments respecting PreIL´s identification criteria.

Pre-industrial and post-industrial landscape in Moravia: concept and reality
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Batelková, Kateřina
The paper deals with the scientific concept of the terms the post-industrial and the pre-industrial landscape and presents available data sources needed for their identification in the Czech Republic. The overview shows the current state of knowledge and the research progress in the study of such historical landscapes. In brief, the methodology of their identification, mapping and classification is given. The post-industrial landscape Rosice-Oslavany and the pre-industrial landscape Bělečsko are presented as examples from the historical territory of Moravia. Their significance for cognitive, educational and conservation practices is emphasized.
The pre-industrial landscape as a cultural heritage: Malá Haná
Kolejka, Jaromír
The parts of the territory with a preserved secondary (economic) landscape structure, originated around the middle of the 19th century, may be considered as existing segments of the pre-industrial landscape. Such territory has retained a similar character of plot distribution and land use of that time. These segments have been pre-identified in the contemporary cultural landscape according to the recent colour orthophotomap. The existence of that cultural heritage has been confirmed or excluded by comparison with the maps of the 2nd military survey and indicating sketches of the cadastral survey from the 1st half of the 19th century. The records were systematically carried out according to the cadastral units of the so-called working regions of Moravia. The segments of the pre-industrial landscape identified in laboratory research then underwent a field research, followed by the determination of their properties and the assessment of the state and the threats.
Standardized identification procedure of segments of pre-industrial landscape for the Moravia Regions
Kolejka, Jaromír ; Kirchner, Karel
The Czech pre-industrial landscape is dated to the period before the main wave of the industrial revolution, now before the year 1850. It bears the sings of relatively uninterrupted socio-economic and cultural development of the mid-17th century with regard to local natural conditions. Its surviving relics are not recorded in the Czech Republic except declared and planned landscape conservation zones. Especially numerous smaller areas with a characteristic spatial structure of arable land, roads, buildings, lakes and forested areas were not covered and mapped. The present paper deals with the original identification procedure of segments of pre-industrial landscape. Our approach is based on a comparison of the various cartographic data (historical maps from the 2nd Military Survey, indicator sketches of cadastral maps, current maps and images) and identification process contains five basic steps.
