Between Nostalgia and Desaster. The Change of 1989 in Literature Written in German

Anottation The topic of this dissertation is the motif of social revolution of the year 1989, in selected articles of German written literature. Through the specific analysis of individual novels and the search for common characteristics, the aim of this work is to answer the question whether there is some unifying topic or poetics of the 1989 revolution. The characteristics of the literary ? historical contexts of this period preceed the analytical part. Following chapters deal with concrete novels, with the help of citations from the text, to the depiction of social conditions and events around the revolution. The focus is mainly on the authors of the "second wave?, who were specifically dealing with the issue of the year 1989, because they personally witnessed the revolution so they were able to derive from their own experiences. The conclusion is a summary of the findings from the analysis of individual writings regarding the literalization of the era of the revolution.
