Changes in the lifestyle 1945-1948 : (an analysis of articals for women in Lidová demokracie)

The diploma thesis describes the way of life in postwar Czechoslowakia on the grounds of analysis of newspaper articles in the journal of Čs. strana lidová (political party). In concentrates on eight areas - women and politics, women and work, nutrittion, fashion, household, family, children and education. It creates a detailed view on living conditions and the most burning issues to common people. Society on the whole went through a sea change. After the second world war there were more women then men. Political parties fought form their votes. There was an huge lack of labour force. It was necessary to make women work not just at home. The aim of the Communist Party was to involve all women in labour. The republic struggles with a crucial absence of food and textiles. In spite of that, Lidová demokracie offered articles about latest fashion trends. The high number of infant mortality was alarming. 1945 saw the failure of many marriages. The author sets her analysis into the context of political and economic events of the period 1945-1948, she descrbes changes in the media control system as well as the press of Čs. strana lidová. This diploma thesis also details the conditions of women's journalism, what subject matter was highlighted, and what space it was allowed to develop.
Image of Czech family in weekly Reflex and Respekt in volume 1993 and 2008

The diploma thesis "Image of Czech family in Weekly Reflex and Respekt in Volume 1993 and 2008" concentrates on family in the Czech Republic and how it is reflected by two weekly, Reflex and Respekt, in two observed years, 1993 and 2008. In the first ,theoretical part, there is a historical overview of Czech family and launch and developement of both magazines. The second, practical part, is the research itself. The method used for the research was the qualitative interpretative analysis. Each article was coded by a name of each theme group that is connected with problems of Czech family. The developement of magazines was defined by analysing changes and movements of each group between the years 1993 and 2008. These differences are caused by both socioeconomic changes and developement of political landscape within the Czech society as well as individual experience of particular journalists and editorial offices.
The cooperation of national press and agencies for research of public opinion in Czech republic

Diploma thesis "The cooporation of national daily press and agencies for research of public opinion in the Czech republic" attempts to describe from the practical point of view how mutual cooperation of agencies for public opinion research and the media, especially the press, looks. The chapters of theoretical part of diploma thesis deal with the historical development of public opinion researches in our country where the year 1989 is stressed as the separation turning-point and the foreign studies about the relation of public opinion polls and media. In the practical part of diploma thesis is detailed analysis of media presentation of public opinion polls in the press. At first it compares the different approach of the journalists and sociologists to the work with the informations about public opinion polls and then the way of media processing of public opinion polls in the newspaper in two different historical periods, namely in 1991 and 2009. The analysed materil contained the press releases by IVVM and by CVVM of the first five months 1991 and 2009 and the press articles where the journalists used the informations from this press releases. Comparison of media image of churches in 1991,1999 and 2008 in selected Czech newspapers

This bachelor's thesis, with the title of "Comparing the media image of churches in 1991, 1999 and 2008 in selected Czech dailies", aims to capture the potential change in the content of the Mladá fronta DNES and the Právo dailies. Following the events of November 1989, the Czech society experienced an increased interest in religion and churches, which then gradually declined over time. The research focus of this thesis is on determining whether and how the content of the selected dailies reflected these shifts within the society. The research method applied included examining selected articles using a quantitative content analysis. The research did not examine only the scope of media space dedicated to Christian spiritual topics but also the degree of negativity and topic selection. The research also compared the results between the dailies, with Mladá fronta DNES maintaining the profile of rather an independent daily and Právo representing a daily with a left-wing inclination. The bachelor's thesis also examines the phenomenon of religion from both the general viewpoint and the viewpoint of the specific situation in the Czech Republic.
The media image of left political in post-comunist Czech republic

This thesis focuses on the media representation of leftist political parties in post-communist country specifically in the Czech Republic. The first part will discuss the historical development of the Czech Republic, where special emphasis will be placed on the transformation of media and their influence on public opinion. The reality of the Czech Republic will be put into a context with selected countries of the former eastern bloc. It will confirmed or refuted a presumption of influence of the communist era on the political leanings of people. The second and third part will deal with the practical aspect of this thesis and content analysis of four newspapers and two weeklies in three years. This analysis should be an answer to the question of how our media are objective and how they reflect left-wing parties. The practical part of the work is divided into methodological and analytical part. There are defined hypotheses and research questions in the methodological section, based on the theoretical part. The chosen method of analysis is the content analysis, the results are presented in the analytical part and interpreted after that.
The role of media in the formation of the life values

The main subject discussed in this bachelor thesis is the impact of media on the formation of life values of teenagers. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on theoretical conceptions and the most famous researches in the area of life values and value orientations. The second part contains a brief list of the most important media-influence theories. The last part of the paper covers a practical research, which aims at finding the role of media in the formation of the life values of 90 selected respondents. For this purpose I prepared a special questionnaire, which contains the questions about value system, life models and subjective opinions of the media influence.
Domestication of Television News: Everyday Social Use of Television News in the Contemporary Family Environment

The diploma thesis called "Domestication of Television News: Everyday Social Use of Television News in the Contemporary Family Environment" deals with the question of how and why are the evening news used in the family environment. It approaches this topic from the perspective of auditorial approach of cultural studies, takes for granted the existence of autonomous active audience. It informs about the key studies of social use of media, e.g. the typology of social use or role of gender in the attitude to media, and it deals with the question of relation of children and media. Further part of work is devoted to the news, its characteristics and the possible social use of this format by specific members of the family.These concepts are consequently used as tools for the research itself. The research of social use of the evenenig news is carried out with the help of qualitative grounded theory. In the empirical part the author arrives to the following conclusions: the main motivation for watching news is informative use, though at the same time it is used as a coulisse to other activities, most often bathing children and preparing or eating dinner. The most widespreaded type of watching news might be described as "monitoring", when television news viewing is secondary to some other primary activity....
