Selected issues of criminal liability in health care Abstract The work deals with selected issues of criminal liability in health care. In the introductory chapter it names some specifics of the relationship between health care and law. The second chapter presents selected, fundamental sources of medical law, which in addition to national legislation include selected international conventions and attention is paid to the role of court decisions in the Czech legal system. The same chapter defines some basic concepts that are important for the whole work and for its subject. The third chapter of this work can be considered as a theoretical basis of the subject of this work. The work deals mainly with the theoretical foundations of criminal liability and its origin, in connection with the specifics of criminal liability in health care and finally the specifics of criminal liability of legal entities. Furthermore, this chapter discusses other legal responsibilities that come into play in connection with the provision of health services - civil, administrative, labor and disciplinary liability. This chapter ends with a separate subchapter, which deals with the importance and role of expert opinion in assessing the emergence of legal liability in health care. Controversial issues of self-defence in Czech case law

The focus of the thesis is set on the controversial issues connected with a legal institute of Czech criminal law called "self-defence", and how these controversial issues were dealt with within judicial practice. The first chapter serves as an introduction to the whole topic. The second chapter describes the concept of self-defence, as well as its prerequisites. The self- defence was classed into the system of criminal law. The goal of the third chapter is to define preconditions which are necessary in connection with application of the self-defence institute. The main parts of this chapter describe firstly attacking, first of all and secondly defence. Subsections of this chapter analyse the term of attacking itself, the attacker and his characteristics, the term of harmfulness of such attacks towards society. As for the second part of the third chapter it focuses on the defence itself, its proportionality etc. The fourth chapter is about the role of judicial practice within the context of Czech legal system. This chapter serves as a relevant contribution to the main part of the thesis, which is chapter five. Chapter five introduces specific cases, especially those which were at some point controversial. Athletes and Heroes - construction and evolution of Czech olympic medalist image

The diploma thesis "Athletes as heroes - construction and evolution of Czech olympic medalist image" deals with media construction of olympic Winter image and its following trasformation into national hero myth. It approaches the topic from the perspective of semiotic analysis. It informs about the key concepts of semiotics and media studies like visual communication, sign, code, myth, social construction of reality, representation and stereotype. These concepts are consequently used as tools for the analysis of photos (thein legends) and headlines in daily press. The text shows on the case of six olympic winners (between years 1998 - 2008) how Czech daily press dealt and built individual stories a basic archetypes. In its first part it offers basic theoretical frame serving to understand the hero image as the social construct. Athlete with his win attracts new - medial constructed - identity. In the second part text tries to analyse media contents that deal with athetes images immediate after their olympic victory. It arrives to following conclusions: media have a tendency to produce the stories od victory, that are gender unequal and stereotyped. And finally, text show us individual images, their basic signs and confrontation, that signifies very similar narrative pracices and zero progress in time.
