This paper is an attempt gto an alternative approach to the problem of touch connectig area of new media and feminist discourse. The theme and content of the work is firmly connected to show the situation of the touch in the context of current develepment of technology. The result is the body of the text showing the irony of touch.
Epistemic and root possibility meanings of can and may in written English

The study is concerned with the English modal auxiliaries CAN and MAY and their morphologically past tense forms COULD and MIGHT.1 It is essentially a small-scale corpus-based investigation into possibility meanings of these modal auxiliaries in contemporary written British English, taking account of stylistic variation. The investigation focuses on assigning appropriate readings to contextualized occurrences of modal auxiliaries and is thus primarily based on discussions of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic aspects. The study attempts to present a general account of possibility senses of CAN/COULD and MAY/MIGHT and reviews the issues relating to their use and distribution on the basis of a semantic and quantitative analysis. However, frequency of occurrence is meant to provide merely a supplementary view of the qualitative analysis, focusing on the role of context in interpreting modal meanings. Among the modal-specific questions that the treatise addresses are those concerning modal semantics, syntactic co-occurrence patterns, stylistic variation, and pragmatic inferencing. It is important to note that the study does not attempt to provide an exhaustive and systematic semantic description of CAN/COULD and MAY/MIGHT. Diplomová práce zpracovává problematiku digitální propasti z aspektu genderu. Definuje možnosti žen a mužů v přístupu a ve využívání informačních a komunikačních technologií v globalizovaném světě. Hlavní částí je podrobná analýza rozvojových a vyspělých zemí, jejich politická, ekonomická a sociální situace, prezentace ženského neziskového sektoru a další informace, které ovlivňují digitální propast. Práce je zaměřena na země, které vypovídají, ať už svou geografickou pozicí, historií nebo společenskou situací o regionu a jsou proto vhodnými představitelkami pro analýzu. Zastoupeny jsou světadíly: Afrika, Asie, Evropa, Severní, Střední a Jižní Ameriky. V závěrečných kapitolách jsou navrhnuty možnosti řešení digitální propasti a její další vývoj.

Business trip to the first meeting of the Dissemination and Exploitation via Libraries: for Success and Sustainability (Di-XL) project participants

Účast na tomto setkání byla nezbytná pro zahájení projektu Dissemination and Exploitation via Libraries: for Success and Sustainability of LLP Results. Jednalo se o tzv. kick off meeting. Setkání se konalo v sídle dalšího z účastníků projektu, firmy řecké Action Synergy v Athénách. Na setkání byly projednány smluvní podmínky, harmonogram projektu a položky rozpočtu projektu. Projekt Di-Xl je zaměřený na analýzu a výzkum potřeb celoživotního vzdělávání a vytvoření modelu spolupráce knihoven, jako partnerů v šíření a uplatnění výsledků LLP (lifelong learning programs) a organizací LLP. Tento model následně bude představen knihovnám a ostatním organizacím, které se podílí na vytváření politiky celoživotního vzdělávání. Česká republika je v tomto mezinárodním projektu zastoupena Národní technickou knihovnou a firmou SEDUKON.
