Klimešová, Hana ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (advisor) ; Boukalová, Hedvika (referee) ; Kolman, Luděk (referee)
This doctoral thesis deals with the problem of post-conflict socialization of young Kosovo Albanians and Kosovo Serbs into the pre-conflict and conflict narratives and images about each other, which are reflected in expressed ethnic distance between the groups; in expressed relative importance of different aspects of identity; in their assumptions about their own and in their mutual projections about the other's markers of adulthood. Also, we look into personal values as expression of what does not differ between the groups. In the theoretical part we first examine the constructs of citizenship, nationalism, and socialization; we provide a historical overview of the development of citizen identity in Kosovo which allows for an understanding of the context of our study. We continue with an overview of important studies and theories describing developmental specifics - including identity development - of growing up in conflict and/or post-conflict areas; with our main focus on adolescents. We pay special attention to processes of reconciliation from a psychological point of view: the role of intergenerational and possibly transgenerational transmission of trauma, image theory, duplex theory of hatred, contact hypothesis. The study itself is a comparative study based on 499 respondents from the two...

Kodyšová, Eliška ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (advisor) ; Šulová, Lenka (referee) ; Sobotková, Daniela (referee)
Title: SOCIAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF CHILDBIRTH EXPERIENCE AND THEIR IMPACT ON EARLY PARENTAL SELF-EFFICACY OF FIRST-TIME MOTHERS Author: Eliška Kodyšová Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague Supervisor: PhDr. Simona Horáková Hoskovcová, PhD., Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague Abstract: Transition to parenthood is a significant transition period in a woman's psychological ontogenesis. An important predictor of parenting abilities and well-being is parental self-efficacy. Recent studies show that mothers' parental self-efficacy can be influenced by childbirth satisfaction, which, in turn, is predicted by social-psychological aspects of childbirth experience, especially support by caregivers. In a longitudinal 2-phase research, we have followed parental self-efficacy determinants working around 1st childbirth as well as childbirth experience determinants. Using multiple linear regression analysis we determined that although parental self-efficacy is mainly prenatally determined, caregivers' support and baby's soothability can impact it positively. We have also confirmed the decisive influence of caregivers' support on childbirth satisfaction in our sample, which is representative for Czech primiparas. ...
Comparative study of naturally bilingual children and children attending a bilingual educational institution
Gulášová, Ivana ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (advisor) ; Mertin, Václav (referee)
The topic of this work is bilingualism in children coming from bilingual families, and children visiting bilingual or foreign language preschools. The theoretical part puts emphasis mainly on the specifics of children's bilingualism and bilingualism in general as well as characteristics of bilingual families and language focused preschool institutions. Furthermore, describes the general language development in children and compares it with the language development at simultaneous bilingual children, ie raised bilingual in the family since birth. The practical part has a mapping study of bilingualism in children with preschool ages. The research method is an online questionnaire presented to parents. The research sample includes 45 children. The data are compared between child-brought up in a bilingual family and children attending bilingual preschools. At the same time indicates a general tendency for bilingual education. An interesting finding is that the parents of children who want to raise their children in this kind of bilingual education do not prepare in any way and that the weaker language of the child, which is learning in pre-school, is reflected in his egocentric speech.
