Dressing change - guidelines for teaching nursing care at the Department of Ortopaedics Military University Hospital Prague

This bachelor thesis aims to describe the dressing change procedure by the nurses at the Department of Orthopaedics, First Faculty of Medicine Charles University, and Military University Hospital Prague. It includes a description of the Redon's drain removal, an introduction of the forms of surgical instruments used during the dressing change, the wound assessment, and methods of wound documentation. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the basic wound definition and classification, description of the wound healing process and factors affecting wound healing. The sublayer contains a description of the dressing trolley and its stored material with a basic introduction on how to use them. Finally, there is a description of the clinical preparation procedure of the nurse and the patient for wound dressing. The practical part focuses on conducting a quantitative research survey at the Department of Orthopaedics, First Faculty of Medicine Charles University and Military University Hospital Prague. The research group consisted of twenty patients and seven nurses. For this investigation, I created a record sheet containing four questions for the nurse, a section with basic information about the patient, and a point system regarding the description of the wound and its dressing.
